Adult Clothes are so BORING! Where is the fun stuff?

AIBU for wanting non boring clothes? Mumsnet is insisting on advertising loads of wonderful Boden kids outfits at me, including a pink stripy cardigan with applique hamsters wearing flower hats! I want to wear things like this! It's the same everywhere, fabulous colourful kids outfits, nothing for middle aged women. Someone please start making adult clothes that are fun!

YABU - adult clothes should be sensible, navy blue or black, or perhaps a nice floral
YANBU - yep, I too would wear a reversible sequin dinosaur t shirt

Just ordered a couple of cute tops from Sugarhill (plus one for a gift)

ofwarren · 19/12/2021 19:37

Bumping to see if anyone else has some suggestions.

I bought a couple of nice dresses from Kath Kidson last year. Definitely fun and not just 'not grown up' though.

Scandinavian brands have some great patterns for adults (and kids) - funkylittlepeople.co.uk/collections/adults-1 . I'm also hoping to get a set of PJs from Hanna Anndersson for Christmas - www.hannaandersson.com/pajamas-adult-women/ - colourful and fun.

I have some lovely Lucy & Yak clothes, they always make me feel happy when I wear them! Fun clothes do exist, just sadly not on the high street.

astorsback · 20/12/2021 11:42

Isn't it strange? Everywhere I go, I see colourful, frilly, sparkly, star-emblazoned, puff-sleeved, over-sized, flared stuff, when I like staid neutrals in normal cuts. I'd kill for some 'boring' shops where I live. Instead, it's all hoodies with ears and rainbow-emblazoned coats.

ShinyMe · 20/12/2021 16:01

I really like a lot of the Duns Sweden stuff (not the ridiculous puffed trousers though, wtf is that about?) but omg their sizing is hard to work out! I've ordered a dress, no idea at all if it'll fit, but we'll see!

There’s a millions of colours in the world, why are black and grey clothes so popular?

pepperaunt · 20/12/2021 16:50

I have some Hannah Andersson pyjamas on order (baby Yoda!). My DSis in the US used to send DD pyjamas from there most years for Christmas.

PeterGriffinsPenisBeaker · 20/12/2021 16:50

Another one for Sugarhill Brighton. I love a good dinosaur jumper!

Octopus37 · 20/12/2021 16:54

Lucy Locket loves for leggings.
Snag for lovely colourful tights.

I'm going to have a look at some of the other websites now.

Baggies are comfy as hell. Certain prints become like gold dust in the biggest kids sizes as a small slim adult can fit into them for half the price of the adult ones
Mummylovesmonkeys · 20/12/2021 18:20

Carolina Dress Room - fabulous!

bambi1132 · 15/01/2022 20:44

Has no one mentioned truffleshuffle yet? They have lots of retro tops/T-shirts

JoAnnewithanE · 15/01/2022 20:45

I miss babycham shoes and my vans 😁

Siennabear · 15/01/2022 20:46

Hiccups and Juice
Lucy and Yak
I always wear bright clothes, you just have to shop about.

ThreeLittleDots · 15/01/2022 20:58

I'm often complimented for my Frugi leggings with rainbows on them :)

GTAlogic · 15/01/2022 21:00

I sew occasionally and made my own blouse with funky, colourful fabric. Quite a few people said they liked it.

Jabbawasarollingstone · 15/01/2022 21:10

Beyond Retro (all branches) are worth a root through.

aibutohavethisusername · 15/01/2022 21:21

I am a full on Popsy convert. I love their stuff.

hivemindneeded · 15/01/2022 21:34

Look at Popsy

Their dresses have multicoloured elephants on, or Russian dolls or puppies. Cardigan of foxes. Lots of bright colours and they look like stretchy flattering designs.

TremendouslyJolly · 15/01/2022 21:49

Love this thread! Always on the lookout for bright and colourful things, I agree OP most adult stuff is so so dull.

Oldraver · 15/01/2022 22:10

I buy lots from Lady V, mostly prints yes cats...I'll go and take a few photos

Oldraver · 15/01/2022 22:33

Cats, Alpacas, flowers and more cats, just a selection of my prints

They've already been mentioned, but I've also recently started buying Joe Browns and Frugi. Frugi do some lovely children's clothes too.
