Adult Clothes are so BORING! Where is the fun stuff?

AIBU for wanting non boring clothes? Mumsnet is insisting on advertising loads of wonderful Boden kids outfits at me, including a pink stripy cardigan with applique hamsters wearing flower hats! I want to wear things like this! It's the same everywhere, fabulous colourful kids outfits, nothing for middle aged women. Someone please start making adult clothes that are fun!

YABU - adult clothes should be sensible, navy blue or black, or perhaps a nice floral
YANBU - yep, I too would wear a reversible sequin dinosaur t shirt

I get a few bits made, colour your world makes tie dye but in all manner of patterns and colours of your choosing. And I like 'pop2toe' leggings and she also makes bespoke. A lot of adult clothes are very dull yep op.

Dolly and dotty currently have a range of dinosaur clothing, also have unicorns, cherries and strawberries

Thank you to those who mentioned Joanie. I've just purchased a 70s print shirt dress and a polker dot romper suit - I'm 44 and have never dressed to blend in 😆. Helps that I'm 6ft and use a walking stick so I get looked at anyway, might as well give people something colourful to stare at!
If anyone ever needs a funky walking stick, can I suggest neo_walk on insta? Fabulous sticks- my favourite I own is a neon yellow one which lights up happy sigh

@TheStarMachine Victory Parade comes up small. I’m a 10 in Collectif etc but my Sloth dress is a 12 and quite snug on the chest. I think if you were hourglass but a C the Rosa dress would fit fine. I’m an hourglass and a DD/E and the size I’d usually be is ok on the waist but tight on the chest. They do loads of shapes though; I can only comment on the Rosa.

@ShinyMe not liking 50s styles might be the issue; I find 50s clothes often embrace the novelty side. Someone mentioned Lazy oaf earlier; that would be up your street.

happychristmasbum · 17/12/2021 18:25

I have found my people!

I actually clicked on one of those Boden jumpers, and was very sad to see it was for children only Sad

ParishSpinster · 17/12/2021 18:25

If you have a sewing machine, you can make your own. I have a range of jolly clothes that I enjoy wearing.

LadyEloise1 · 17/12/2021 18:28

[email protected] if bright colourful clothes are your thing.
Someone might do a link please.

muddyford · 17/12/2021 18:30

I was a little boy wearing a seagreen anorak covered in dinosaurs. Would love one. Also a little girl in lovely striped leggings.

Lucy and Yak looks amazing!

How do people find all these companies? I don't shop much online and then it's only really H&M. I wouldn't know what to look for to find 'different stuff? Do you build up knowledge of where to look through word of mouth/threads like this?

I've lost all style since DS was born so this thread has really lit a spark with me to make a lot of changes to what I buy and make.

CatNamedEaster · 17/12/2021 18:38

I think also because I spend all day using a screen I'm never able to spend time blindly 'browsing for more than 10 minutes before I give up. I need to try harder if I want to break out of jeans and neutrals.Grin

OneOfTheGrundys · 17/12/2021 18:40

Lucy and Yak are fab.

VienneseWhirligig · 17/12/2021 18:46

Carolina Dress Room do some really jazzy leggings and dresses. I also love Buttontinretro and RainbowRules on Etsy.

Snag Tights do really fun patterns, stripes, skulls, glitter, Care Bears even.

KevinTheKoala · 17/12/2021 18:48

Run and fly do amazing designs, I also love popsy and joanie clothing and harkel, emp.com have some fun bits but you have to search a little it is mainly alternative clothing. I do find that it is mostly 50s style clothes that are in the fun prints which is a little annoying at times (although I love 50s style clothes myself). I also saw a rainbow cardigan in sainsburys today that Ive fallen in love with and I need to go back and get it.

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 17/12/2021 18:49

YANBU At 4ft 11 I get away with wearing kids clothes. My best winter coat is aged 11-12. Being short has some advantages Grin

I think this is the problem. I want fun, but I don't suit fitted and I don't want to iron. I want comfy and fun. I'm also not keen on captions/slogans. I'm sorry, I know I'm fussy! I also have a crap attention span for online shopping, so far not seen anything that appeals on that Lazy Oaf site

Every summer Peacock’s bring out the most gorgeous colour in jeans for kids why can’t I buy them for me.

Left · 17/12/2021 18:51

Rip n dip (stocked in skate stores and online)
Monki (same parent company as H&M, online and stores in larger cities)
Lucy and Yak (they have an outlet store on Depop)

More well known but Zara have some very bright bits at the moment, solid colour brights l, greens and red… great for clashing or having a bright outfit all in one colour x

UthredofBattenberg · 17/12/2021 18:59

I heartily recommend

Jenny juice
Popsy clothing
And joanie

They have the fun stuff 😁

2TurtleDovesInARow · 17/12/2021 19:11

Have you seen Frugi adult stuff? Personally I think it's hideous but could be just what you're after!

NameChange30 · 17/12/2021 19:16

I've been breastfeeding on and off for several years and it seems that a lot of breastfeeding clothes are very colourful and fun, including lots of rainbows.

You should search for "twinning" clothes as this is most definitely a Thing and lots of places sell matching designs for mum and baby/child, lots of these tend to be more colourful and fun.

PPs have already mentioned Lucy & Yak and Frugi which you'll probably like.

This website has some stuff you might like

And this website has loads of rainbow stuff (mostly for breastfeeding) including pants Grin
