I was intimate with a partner this weekend and he has arm and back tattoos…. Tribal type. I’m really turned of him….

Aibu?

YANBU. I'm turned off by people who are judgmental about body art. Different strokes for different folks...

LawnFever · 12/12/2021 18:44

You can find whatever you like attractive or unattractive in a partner, I like tattoos but you don’t have to.

Iamanicepersonreally · 12/12/2021 18:44

It's up to you. It's not a case of being reasonable or unreasonable

icedcoffees · 12/12/2021 18:46

I mean, you can't control what you find attractive, but why would you let it go all the way to sex before realising?

FindingMeno · 12/12/2021 18:46

Personal preference.
It's fine.
I love a bit of ink but you either like it or don't.
Would I be put off a prospective partner suitable in every way but looks though? No.

Newpandrawer · 12/12/2021 18:47

This thread is nonsense! There is no reasonable or unreasonable in sexual attraction.

Comedycook · 12/12/2021 18:47

I find tattoos vile on anyone.

Dishwashersaurous · 12/12/2021 18:47

Why would you have sex with someone you don't find attractive?

santasmuma · 12/12/2021 18:47

This isn't really an AIBU, it's up to you.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 12/12/2021 18:47

I don’t like that either. Is he nice in other ways?

CallMeNutribullet · 12/12/2021 18:48

I mean obviously you find attractive what you find attractive but I can't imagine being completely turned off by tattoos that aren't even normally visible

SivvyPlath · 12/12/2021 18:49

Did you not realise that he had tattoos until he took his clothes off??

Campfirewood · 12/12/2021 18:49

It’s up to you what you find attractive!
I’m not a huge fan of tattoos, but if I really liked the guy I could probably overlook it. And I wouldn’t use it as a reason not to carry on.
If he’s wonderful in all other aspects maybe see how it goes?

Thegreencup · 12/12/2021 18:50

I'm also wondering the same. If someone has that many, it would usually come up in conversation with them beforehand.

Also, if its that much of a turn off for you, it's sensible to ask about them before you get into their pants.

Treecreature · 12/12/2021 18:51

It's OK. We find plainskins boring Wink

Darkpheonix · 12/12/2021 18:51

You don't have to date or have sex with anyone you don't want to. Whatever the reason is.

ThePlantsitter · 12/12/2021 18:53

You were turned off but you shagged him anyway? For that yabu.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 12/12/2021 18:54

@Darkpheonix

This.

So, YANBU.

Bagelsandbrie · 12/12/2021 18:55

Fair enough you don’t have to find anything sexually attractive, it’s subjective, but didn’t he mention he had tattoos beforehand? Seems odd to get to that point with someone and you’ve not chatted about likes / dislikes and if they’re that large / noticeable it seems odd he hadn’t mentioned it.

I find tattoos very attractive. Dh is covered in them, literally only his hands and neck bare! (Well, and you know… )!

steff13 · 12/12/2021 18:55

You don't have to find tattoos attractive. But, if they're a deal-breaker, why didn't you ask if he had tattoos? It's perfectly standard to ask that.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 12/12/2021 18:56

I'd find that a turn-off as well - particularly 'tribal' tattoos, unless they were genuinely part of the wearer's heritage.

But, each to their own. The world would be boring if we all liked the same things.

Onehotmess · 12/12/2021 18:58

Nope, you like what you like.

Panacotta · 12/12/2021 18:59

Dod you not see the tattoos before you dtd op?

DerbyshireMama · 12/12/2021 18:59

I don't like them either. Well, I probably wouldn't mind if they were well thought out and skilfully done, rather than someone who went out and got sleeves of pocket watches and bible scripture just because that's the current trend.

I can't imagine there are many men without tattoos nowadays.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 12/12/2021 18:59

You're into what you're into and your turn offs are your turn offs.
