I was intimate with a partner this weekend and he has arm and back tattoos…. Tribal type. I’m really turned of him….

Aibu?

I find them unattractive.

Chunkymenrock · 13/12/2021 04:46

They all go navy blue and smudged in the end. I really dislike them and would get fed up of looking at it every day. A real turn ofF, yes.

garlictwist · 13/12/2021 05:34

I think tattoos look shit and I'd never get one. But my DP has one and while I don't like it to be honest I don't really care and don't even particularly notice it. If you like the person enough it shouldn't matter.

Hodl · 13/12/2021 06:03

I can't stand tattoos, regardless of whether they're 'artistic' or mean something special etc.
When we were on holiday a few years ago a woman had lots of tattoos, one across her back read 'You c*nt'
Vile.

RobertsYourFathersBrother · 13/12/2021 06:21

Haha. Noice!

WaltzingBetty · 13/12/2021 06:42

I'm not sure I'd want to have a relationship with someone so unobservant and judgemental.

You didn't see his arms or back before sex? Confused

gofg · 13/12/2021 07:02

I don't particularly like tattoos and wouldn't want one myself, but I certainly wouldn't dismiss someone as a potential partner just because they had tattoos. Surely their personality is what is important, not their body art? Anyway, how do you find someone without tattoos these days?

DrManhattan · 13/12/2021 07:04

Yanbu. Tribal ones are so dated now. Wouldn't be for me.

DrManhattan · 13/12/2021 07:05

Body art? Lol that's a bit of a stretch

Only poorly done tattoos bleed, they only go navy if you choose to neglect them by not wearing suncream.

Oh for crying out loud - they aren't haircuts that you can just change on a whim because they are dated!

Well, isn't it body art?

I'm getting the feeling that people in the UK are a bit judgemental and old fashioned when it comes to tattoos.

DrManhattan · 13/12/2021 08:31

@gofg
Yeah I get that they are not hair cuts but isn't it a bit short sighted to get the equivalent of fast fashion permanently added?

You sound very ignorant
DrManhattan · 13/12/2021 08:36

@Letsallscreamatthesistene
Lol you know not everyone agrees with your opinion right?

Im not sure why you're confused. You seem to have said that body isnt a thing, where its widely accepted that it is. It actually has a history spanning 1000's years. Regardless of if you think tribal tattoos are bad, its still an art form. So yes, I think you're ignorant.

RachelTheRedNosedReindeer · 13/12/2021 09:35

I agree with you @Letsallscreamatthesistene.

DrManhattan · 13/12/2021 09:43

@Letsallscreamatthesistene
I don't agree with the definition of 'art', but I'm not going to call you ignorant just because you don't agree with me.

RachelTheRedNosedReindeer · 13/12/2021 09:47

Well it is an art form. It's like saying "I don't believe sculpture is art cos I don't like it very much". You can say it, but you're just wrong. And the fact you can't see that does mean you are ignorant 🤷‍♀️

🤣🤣🤣

Jesus, are you 12?

MrsTimRiggins · 13/12/2021 09:53

Well, you’re not unreasonable. You like what you like, and your turn offs are your turn offs. You can either overlook your dislike of his tattoos on the basis you like him as a person, or you can cut this one loose, your choice.
Threads like this do always bring out the two classic judgemental (and incorrect!) lines ‘they’re chavvy’ and ‘they indicate criminals!’… mumsnet pearlclutching at its finest.

Alwaysfullofquestions · 13/12/2021 09:56

I’m covered in tattoos but my partner has none and I still find him attractive, even though usually my ‘type’ is tattooed. However I would also find tribal tattoos a turnoff; I’ve never liked them. But then again it’s each to their own and there is no wrong/right answer but I wouldn’t see it as a deal breaker.
