I was intimate with a partner this weekend and he has arm and back tattoos…. Tribal type. I’m really turned of him….

Aibu?

@Treecreature

It's OK. We find plainskins boring Wink

I think they’re awful too.

TartanDMs · 12/12/2021 21:33

I was a bit upset when my ex got one (doesn't help that it wasn't a very nice one) but I got over it eventually so I guess I'm not turned off as such. I got used to it. DH hated them full stop and used to joke that he would divorce me if I ever got one (he wouldn't have really, but he loathed them).

steff13 · 12/12/2021 22:13

Swanfairydust are you going to come back and tell us who did this guy's tattoos?

TrishM80 · 12/12/2021 22:20

Yanbu. Tattoos are really chavvy, and these days utterly unoriginal too - 9 out of 10 people seem to have some nondescript rose or love heart or Chinese symbol tat on them. You're more of an individual if you DON'T have a tattoo!

SivvyPlath · 12/12/2021 22:21

Tattoos are really chavvy

Bingo!

SivvyPlath · 12/12/2021 22:24

Some of the most intelligent and successful people I know (including some of my professors at university) have tattoos.

What chavs they are!

This entire post smacks of someone who hasnt emerged from living in the 1990's
cherish123 · 12/12/2021 22:47

YANBU
I don't like tattoos.
I don't think it would turn me off someone but you can't help it if you are turned off by it.

AnotherOneWithNoGoodName · 13/12/2021 00:01

YANBU to find body art attractive or not attractive.
But surely you noticed them beforehand?

How could I notice them when they are on his back?

Yanbu as it’s just a case of personal preference.

I’m the opposite - DH is covered in tattoos and I find them really attractive.

AnotherOneWithNoGoodName · 13/12/2021 00:03

You said arms as well, so I assumed full sleeves. (never assume, as they say!)

Swanfairydust · 13/12/2021 00:05

They are also on his upper arms

Tribal tattoos picked from a book?

@steff13

I like tattoos if they are done by artists.

Who did this guy's tattoos?

Street artist.

No, they’re unique designs and nothing tribal.

Well, money and intelligence doesn't always equate to taste or class!

And you sound like an insufferable judgemental snob.

Just my opinion from a plainskinGrin

alienbaby · 13/12/2021 01:29

I like tattoos but tribal is a bit 90s

RobertaFirmino · 13/12/2021 01:31

I'm not keen on them myself - many of them do look unoriginal or otherwise rubbish. They don't really have any bearing on what a person is actually like though, they don't mean a person is chavvy, cool, edgy, original, uneducated, clever, silly or whatever.

Horses for courses and all that.

Corbally · 13/12/2021 01:34

Only date people wearing a vest, preferably one of those mesh ones, so you can check arms and torso. And ask about buttocks.

Strokethefurrywall · 13/12/2021 01:37

I can’t believe you’re so thick that you can’t work out your own preferences without turning to Mumsnet opinion, but here we are 🤷🏽‍♀️

SivvyPlath · 13/12/2021 03:32

Well, money and intelligence doesn't always equate to taste or class!

Yeah, just like tattoos don't always equal 'chav'. Idiot.

BluebellCockleshell123 · 13/12/2021 03:42

I don’t like tattoos, but I don’t think they would put me off someone I really liked otherwise.
