I hate tattoos on partners

I was intimate with a partner this weekend and he has arm and back tattoos…. Tribal type. I’m really turned of him….

I’m similar although I do think some tattoos look amazing. Depends on the tattoo. Also, it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker.

I would have said the Sam but my partner has tattoos and they’re just part of him and I find them really sexy

I’m not a fan of tattoos at all. When I was young & dating, they were definitely an obvious signifier of background & level of education, and not in a good way.

But times have changed and I’m aware that people from all backgrounds now get inked, so I would no longer automatically assume that I would be incompatible with anyone who would get a tattoo. I still don’t like them, though.

You are not being unreasonable. Id never date anyone with a tattoo but that's just my preference, not me being judgemental like the first person who posted, insinuating that you are judgemental. Clearly easily offended.

You like what you like and you don't like what you don't like.

I love tattoos and have many (not tribal, I'm not keen on the style).

You like what you like! You can't choose what you find a turn off / on really.

Personally, I like tattoos in general. Not shit ones or anything offensive, silly or obnoxious, but otherwise, I'm a fan. I have a small one myself which my dh likes although he doesn't like them as a rule.

Tattoos were for special groups of people who largely operated outside of normal society eg - military, bikers, prisoners. - Theydenoted belonging to that group. When ''celebrities'' like Beckham and Cheryl Cole got them, the public just copied.

Am also a bit Hmm about calling someone a 'partner' when you've only just seen his arm for the first time.

I have no strong feelings about tattoos or not –unless it was something really tasteless, in which case it wouldn't be the tattoo that put me off, it would be what it indicated about the person who chose that design.

Those who really don't like them, what is it specifically that you don't like? Is it a physical 'ick' response like if you found a massive boil on someone's back you didn't know about (sporners aside), or is it more that you think it says something about the person themselves?

It's entirely up to you. I'm not a fan of tattoos, but if it's hidden enough that you didn't see it until you were being intimate, that's very different from someone with neck tattoos of full sleeves. I'd want to know he wasn't headed that direction, but if I liked someone enough, a pre-existing, hidden tattoo wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. It might be for someone else, however, and that's just the way it is!

I'm sure there are lots of people who've always been into tattoos and identified with the whole sub-culture element, who probably do dislike the fact that it's become so mainstream and normie.
