Loads of Veggies and Massive Salad

I find people saying they had “loads of veggies” or “massive salad” with their meal irrationally irritating. Not the fact they had vegetables or a salad, just the phrases.
I am being unreasonable, aren’t I?
0palescent · 08/12/2021 22:30
YANBU.
Warmduscher · 08/12/2021 22:30
Do people even say those things?
Though I have to say I find adults using the word “veggies” very irritating.
DeepaBeesKit · 08/12/2021 22:31
Yanbu.
"Massive salad" like it's a hearty, indulgent, filling meal. It just never is.
RobertaFirmino · 08/12/2021 22:31
No you aren't being unreasonable. It also grates when people say that for their monthly treat, they have a square or two of 'good' chocolate. All chocolate is good.
AnotherMansCause · 08/12/2021 22:31
Many people like vegetables. I do. The fact that thiese phrases irritates you says something about your feelings towards vegetables, I suspect?
BellaTheDarkOverlord · 08/12/2021 22:34
Yabu. I filled up tonight on a massive salad and for dessert a lick of a rivita. I'm stuffed
AnotherMansCause · 08/12/2021 22:34
@RobertaFirmino no it's not. Cadburys for example. It tastes like someone mixed a bar of chocolate with some old candle ends. I'd sooner go without TBH.
HangingDitch · 08/12/2021 22:34
@AnotherMansCause
Not at all. I love most vegetables. I’m more lukewarm about salad, but a good one is nice.
Rose789 · 08/12/2021 22:35
Yanbu
Mrsjayy · 08/12/2021 22:37
My massive salads usually have cheese and pork pie in them so not exactly healthy
Heruka · 08/12/2021 22:38
Yanbu!
AnotherMansCause · 08/12/2021 22:41
I will agree with you though, about the use of the word "veggies". The word is vegetables.
Warmduscher · 08/12/2021 22:43
@Mrsjayy

Pork pie is a salad ingredient now?
Who knew?
Bloodypunkrockers · 08/12/2021 22:43
Huge salads
Massive pots of chilli
Never normal sized. Very irritating
I would add
Hot choc
Toms
Tinned toms
Pots
Jkt pots
Spag bol
Mac n cheese
And the use of "good" and "proper" when talking about bread, butter, etc
When you add in all the Yums
and yummies it's little wonder I avoid food threads usually.
OhGiveUp · 08/12/2021 22:44
Any adult who refers to vegetables as veggies deserves to be pelted with frozen sprouts until they see the error of their ways.
YANBU op.
ISpyCobraKai · 08/12/2021 22:45
On the Christmas breakfast thread the other day there was a mention of, "massive fruit salad".
Ffs.
OhGiveUp · 08/12/2021 22:45
@Bloodypunkrockers Don't forget the Nom Nom 🤬
Bluntness100 · 08/12/2021 22:45
It’s like an obsession on here, not a month goes by without someone starting yet another thread about massive salads.
BurntO · 08/12/2021 22:46
I’d love to see pictures from British families of their massive salads.
cantgetmyheadroundit · 08/12/2021 22:47
You are so right. Also, 'picky bits'.
MeredithGreyishblue · 08/12/2021 22:48
Who wants a massive salad anyway? All that chewing for so little gain. Inefficient.
GiveYourHeadAWobble · 08/12/2021 22:49
YABU. I love massive salads. I also love vegetables.
SpookyScarySkeletons · 08/12/2021 22:49
"Massive salad" always makes me a bit too.
Mentally I picture a huge huge salad like man vs food style and then have a giggle about it 😂
Lizzy1980 · 08/12/2021 22:50
@Bloodypunkrockers Don't forget the Nom Nom 🤬
Please don’t, I can’t bear nom nom 😂
MONSTERSALAD · 08/12/2021 22:50
@MeredithGreyishblue
Wow. Hurtful.

Seriously, though - the only thing that makes a massive salad appetising is adding things to it that negate the point of the salad. By the time you've got the pasta and the bacon and stuff, it's probably better to leave the salad aspect out, to save calories.
