I find people saying they had “loads of veggies” or “massive salad” with their meal irrationally irritating. Not the fact they had vegetables or a salad, just the phrases.
I am being unreasonable, aren’t I?

Being diabetic it’s just standard for me.

@OhGiveUp
YANBU op.

Why do people come on a thread and announce that it’s trivial, first-world problems etc?
Do they travel round MN, invading chicken keepers/legal matters/creative writing/what we are reading et. etc etc and tell everyone off and to “get a grip”?

Yes... why are they so concerned with policing other peoples chat? Perhaps they need to .... er...

@winnieanddaisy

To be fair that is a Tomato salad in a lot of Mediterranean countries.I think the idea is that the Toms (sorry) are so delicious they only need a bit of oil and garlic.
I actually prefer it as I hate tomatoes touching the lettuce
@Bloodypunkrockers Don't forget the Nom Nom 🤬
Aaagh! What is that stupid phrase all about? I really hate that and anyone who says it.
hazelnutpraline · 13/12/2021 08:41
YANBU it’s just smug
piesinmyeyes · 13/12/2021 12:19
whats a Nom Nom?
Bloodypunkrockers · 13/12/2021 12:43
@piesinmyeyes
Some people write about food then add a pointless sentence (which makes them look about 4 years old)
Steak pie and mash tonight. Nom nom
Or the even worse
Cheese on toast with mustard. Yum
I got angry even typing those

Marvellousmadness · 13/12/2021 12:56
I take it you're a "bigger woman" ...
Why else would you get irritated by it..?!
sueelleker · 13/12/2021 15:19
*Pork pie is a salad ingredient now?
Who knew?
A friend my Mum had. She swore it was healthy if she had salad with it.
PeachyPeachTrees · 13/12/2021 21:26
There's good chocolate and then there's Hersheys.
I love a massive salad, loads of ingredients. Nom! I'll get my coat.
Yebbie · 13/12/2021 21:30
I had a massive salad tonight and I'm completely stuffed! Kale, carrots, broccoli, baby leaf salad, quinoa, pomegranate seeds, falafels and harissa mixed in with aioli drizzled on top. It was beautiful.
Yebbie · 13/12/2021 21:31
Oh and avocado too
ALightThatNeverGoesOut · 13/12/2021 21:35
U r a massive salad
whateveritwilltake · 14/12/2021 06:33
I'm guilty of using num nums - but only to my cat. As in "oh you want num nums don't you" or "good girl you ate all your nummies"
Never to humans tho!
JustRambling · 14/12/2021 10:55
@Imy06
Personally I would rather someone said loads of veggies rather than list every vegetable they had, and massive salad just sounds unappealing to me 🤷🏻♀️
Aussies are fond of abbreviated words.
Foodie ones -
Brekkie Breakfast
Avo. Avocado. Not to be confused with Arvo Afternoon
Maccas McDonalds
Barbie Barbecue
Also
Chrissie Christmas
Ambo Ambulance
Tradie. Tradesman
Miso. Musician
Prezzies. Presents
And lots more
Nasty people, probably Poms (English people), say they open their mouths as little as possible in case the flies get in. 😀
