To ask why a man may have a single long fingernail?

Is there a thing to do with having a single long fingernail as a man?

I just caught a glimpse and didn't want to stare but looked like all nails cut down except from nail on little finger.

It was disproportionately long compared to the cut ones too so not like it had just grown quicker than the others.

Grossed me out what is this?

@Ihaventgottimeforthis

Is he a lemur?

Aye-ayes have one long thin finger for poking grubs out of rotten timber.

Can you ask him please![/quote]
I won't see him for a while now but it will be the first thing I check out when I do.

It's his left hand.

Maybe I'll ask if he plays any instruments without specifically mentioning the nail.

@LarryTheLurker

Fingerstyle guitar players will usually have longish fingernails on all the fingers of their 'picking' hand, not just one.

Sounds far more likely to be scoop 'n' snort to me.

My guitar playing son and husband both have 1 long nail. No coke involved.
