To ask why a man may have a single long fingernail?

Is there a thing to do with having a single long fingernail as a man?

I just caught a glimpse and didn't want to stare but looked like all nails cut down except from nail on little finger.

It was disproportionately long compared to the cut ones too so not like it had just grown quicker than the others.

Grossed me out what is this?

It is a gay thing in the States to indicated you prefer to be passive if it’s the right pinky.

Surely not. Why would somebody 'respected' and quite well to do in various circles advertise this so openly.

He is hardly advertising himself as a coke user though. You don't know why he has the nail and every post on this thread is a guess as well, and several variations. If he was advertising himself as a coke user you would know he was a coke user.

My grandad and my brother keep one longer nail as they are joiners/carpenters I think some places in England call it and they use it to mark wood and stuff..

I came across quite a few men when I was travelling in Cambodia, who had one long pinky nail. I reckon it was for no good purposes - probably their designated nose picking finger!

Guitar player (classical) would be all long nails on the left hand, not just one surely?! Coke nail is my bet too. Or sub-standard personal grooming, neither of which is ideal really is it?

When I lived in China lots of men would have one long nail. It indicated that he didn't have to do manual work.

Though, those I've known have it here had a huge coke problem.

A friend of a friend had a really long thumbnail as he made candles.

My Italian FIL, and both his brothers, all have one long nail (little finger). They use it to pick their noses and ears 🤢 Fucking revolting.

I like having a long nail on the little finger for nose picking. Otherwise I need to use a hairpin to get right up there.

What’s made me a bit about this is all the blokes I used to hang out with when younger and well into their coke (and with quite disturbing habits too) none of them had this coke finger as we’d have definitely have noticed it!
