To wonder why DD was refused food?

TheLasrStraw · 06/11/2021 17:44

Y8 DD came back from a residential trip and said she and her friend asked for a the Yorkshire Pudding without the meat sprinkles - the server was sprinkling the meat on it in front of them so could have just given one before he sprinkled it.

They were both refused.

We were told that this venue caters for all diets so why would they have been refused this?

Meat sprinkles? 🧐

ToastandJamandTea · 06/11/2021 17:46

Surely you are only going to get the answer to this be contacting the venue?

Ohshittt · 06/11/2021 17:46

I'm really confused as to how you expect anyone else to know? Also who 'sprinkles' meat? 🤔

WheelieBinPrincess · 06/11/2021 17:47

How will anyone on an anonymous forum be able to give you an an answer Confused

Wtf is meat sprinkles?!

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 06/11/2021 17:47

Maybe ask them?

Just10moreminutesplease · 06/11/2021 17:47

Maybe it wasn’t suitable for vegetarians even without the added meat and server assumed they didn’t eat meat? It does sound odd though!

Did they get something different to eat?

ClemDanFango · 06/11/2021 17:47

Also intrigued by meat sprinkles. Sounds rather epic.

WhatAHexIGotInto · 06/11/2021 17:48

Oh honestly, surely your response to that would be 'Oh right. That's a shame'. And not to give it another thought. Make her a Yorkshire pudding without the 'meat sprinkles' whatever the hell they are, and get on with life.

Simonjt · 06/11/2021 17:48

Meat sprinkles?

I’m a vegetarian, when out and about yorkshire puddings often aren’t vegetarian, on top of that if the server meets the whims of one child they have to meet the whims of all.

GreyhoundG1rl · 06/11/2021 17:48

Are they vegetarian?

ImUninsultable · 06/11/2021 17:48

What age is year 8?
Is she not old enough to say, "I'm vegetarian. Why cant you serve it without meat?"

If she isnt old enough to speak to for herself then why didnt she go to the teacher?

All you can do is feed back to the school and make the venue aware so it can be corrected for the future.

TrashyPanda · 06/11/2021 17:49

Another one bemused about meat sprinkles

TheLasrStraw · 06/11/2021 17:49

The sprinkles were pork, I haven't heard of this topping either.

@Simonjt

Being vegetarian isnt a whim. It isnt difficult to serve a yorkshire pudding before sticking meat on top of it. That's literally all he had to do. Pick it up and serve it without meat.
This isnt "meeting a whim of one child."

BalloonSlayer · 06/11/2021 17:52

Maybe the puddings were cooked in lard so server assumed that they wouldn't want them if they didn't want the meat sprinkles.

The next child will then want no peas, the next no gravy, the next three balls of stuffing. This is a hot dinner on a trip, not a personally ordered meal, having to meet the whims of every child on trip (because that what would happen) isn’t practical.

KatherineJaneway · 06/11/2021 17:53

What on earth are meat sprinkles?

I'd assume they were refused as the Yorkshires were not vegetarian and if they refused 'meat sprinkles', the server assumed they were vegetarian.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 06/11/2021 17:54

Lol

3peassuit · 06/11/2021 17:55

Maybe the Yorkshires had been roasted in lard and weren’t appropriate for a vegetarian.

arethereanyleftatall · 06/11/2021 17:57

Are you hoping that someone from the venue who was serving is online right now?

Needs more context.

My guess is that they have 50 Yorkshire's, to go with 50 bits of pork for the 50 kids who want the roast option. They have 50 portions of roasted vegetables to go with the 50 jacket potatoes for the veggie option. Kids, at a guess, can't just go along the line choosing which bits they do and don't want.

TheSmallAssassin · 06/11/2021 17:59

@Simonjt if someone is serving up as people go along it is hardly an inconvenience to serve one without gravy or no peas. Have you bever been to a carvery or a works canteen? Why so keen that everyone should like it or lump it? Is it because they are children?

LethargicActress · 06/11/2021 18:00

Maybe they were refused it because it wasn’t vegetarian because of how it had been cooked, and they claim to cater for all diets because there were vegetarian options available too.

Scabetty · 06/11/2021 18:01

I think as previous poster stated that this was the meat eaters option and the veggie option was something else. Therefore their numbers would have been messed up with picking meat option less meat. Anyway life is full of small disappointments so draw a line and move on 😁

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 06/11/2021 18:02

Has the op said it was a carvery then?
