To want to buy a few fireworks?

I can’t find any anywhere! What’s happened? Has Bonfire Night been cancelled? I loved it as a child. I just want to get a few sparklers and Roman candles, some traffic lights and fizz pops. I’m not looking for a significant amount of gunpowder - not trying to frighten people’s pets. I don’t want to attend a public display. They’re too crowded and loud. I just want a little party in my garden with parkin and toffee apples.

Where are all the fireworks??

Good. They shouldn't be sold to the general public anyway.

I agree

Prepare for finger-wagging lectures!

not trying to frighten people’s pets

But they will...

Rainywindoww · 05/11/2021 11:13

Fireworks are awful and should be completely banned for sale to everyone apart from big displays.

Well done Sainsburys for stopping selling them!

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/11/2021 11:14

Good.

Ohmych · 05/11/2021 11:15

I bought some in Aldi and Asda last night. It's bonfire night so of course people are going to have fireworks.

GreenTeaBlackCoffeeAndRedWine · 05/11/2021 11:16

Goodness, it's one day of the year. Come on people. By that logic they should stop selling anything that could frighten people. Clown costumes, balloons, etc.

Aldi had some last year. I'm sure they did

girlmom21 · 05/11/2021 11:16

Asda and Aldi are selling them but it's cheaper and safer to go to an organised display.

Disneyvillain · 05/11/2021 11:16

They are available at some supermarkets but you have to ask I think. Try Lidl and Asda.

SalsaLove · 05/11/2021 11:16

I hate fireworks. Someone set off a long and loud display last night. It seemed professionally done but still obnoxious.

XiCi · 05/11/2021 11:16

Aldi sell them

There are a number of pop up shops round here selling them as well

PintOfBovril · 05/11/2021 11:18

Thing is it's not one night of the year.... It's been going on locally here for weeks!

LakieLady · 05/11/2021 11:18

Most fireworks that can be bought by the general public aren't worth the money or the effort.

Go to a proper display, and see something spectacular.

JewelleryBox · 05/11/2021 11:18

I can get on board with one day of the year (two if you include New Years Eve) but it’s when they go off sporadically for days and weeks that it becomes a problem.

Also with public displays at least you can prepare yourself/pets for the day and time and know when it’s going to end.

TheSpiral · 05/11/2021 11:19

I used to get them from Sainsbury’s but they don’t sell them anymore. I am just about to head up to The Range, which I think has them, or failing that Asda.
We don’t have bang bang bang ones, just some Roman candles and traffic lights like when I was a child. The crapness of the fireworks is part of the fun.

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/11/2021 11:20

This ^.
They’ve been going off since Halloween here and will continue through this weekend.

GreenTeaBlackCoffeeAndRedWine · 05/11/2021 11:20

Let's stop selling balloons too then

LyricalBlowToTheJaw · 05/11/2021 11:21

Aldi and Asda both stock them.

It was Diwali yesterday. Arguably a more justified reason for fireworks than a group of people failing to blow up Parliament hundreds of years ago.
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 05/11/2021 11:23

They probably ran out of them after last night’s racket.

bigbluebus · 05/11/2021 11:23

Our Tesco sells them so I assume all their stores do.

Mychitchatdays · 05/11/2021 11:25

It will depend where you are. Scotland have new rules and regulations this year for fireworks.

idontlikealdi · 05/11/2021 11:25

Good and it's not one day a year as pp said. Some knob jockey around here was letting them off randomly from midday yesterday.

nameyouwhat · 05/11/2021 11:26

Yes balloons are just floating litter
