I've spent about £50 quid on some posh fabric pumpkins and other assorted stuff.

Make. Me. Feel. Better. What have you spent?

A couple of pumpkins but we will eat the flesh. Making the decorations from craft stuff we already have. No need to go overboard. I’m UK though not America.

4 pumpkins and that's it. I'm trying not to buy plastic tat that will just go in the bin.

PearandHoney · 26/10/2021 20:47

It’s your money and you can do what you want with it.

Personally I would never spend money on Halloween decorations because I think (in most cases) it’s wasteful and environmentally harmful. Plus there is other stuff I would want and need to spend the money on.

You do you though!

toolazytothinkofausername · 26/10/2021 20:47

Depends if they can be reused. If you love Halloween, best to buy good quality for more money but last you for many years.

britespark1 · 26/10/2021 20:49

I’ve gone a little crazy and crocheted lots of my own little ghosts and pumpkins 🎃

£0

Have never bought decorations apart from a pumpkin. Because it's mostly plastic tat which will end up in landfill.

Perhaps a couple of pounds on some fresh pumpkins. I have a knitted spider and bar which come out every year.

I've spent about £50 quid on some posh fabric pumpkins and other assorted stuff.

They’re not posh, they’re tat and will probably be in landfill in a few years, with all the other plastic crap that people buy.

It’s sad that you need to buy things to feel better. What do you think is at the root of managing your feelings through consumption?

Kite22 · 26/10/2021 20:50

Nothing, but, if you have the money, and aren't going to just put them in the bin afterwards, then what you do is up to you.

santabetterwashhishands · 26/10/2021 20:50

Got two lovely pumpkins for 50p each and my child has enjoyed making decorations from her craft bits 👍🏻
I'd never spend 50 quid on decorations but each to their own 🤷‍♀️

PurpleFlower1983 · 26/10/2021 20:50

We have a set of Halloween/Autumn lights that we put in the window but I bought them a couple of years ago. Aside from that we have 2 pumpkins.

Sinthie · 26/10/2021 20:50

We have a bag of decorations that we add to each year, which is probably worth less than £30 in total. We spent about £5 in B&M and will buy a couple of pumpkins. The stuff from previous years is all usable too.

BasiliskStare · 26/10/2021 20:51

I would not spend that much but if you can store them for next year .....

Wynston · 26/10/2021 20:51

@britespark1 they are fab well done!!

MrsJBaptiste · 26/10/2021 20:51

A fiver on a pumpkin and that will be it.

I can't be doing with Halloween but the kids wanted a pumpkin... 🍊

Daughterpanic · 26/10/2021 20:51

Probably about 80 but spread over the years.
I buy in the sales and we RE Use our beautiful decor each year.

RightOnTheEdge · 26/10/2021 20:52

britespark1 I love those! They are so cute!

Stompythedinosaur · 26/10/2021 20:54

I've only bought pumpkins this year, but I've got the three boxes of Halloween decorations bought (definitely more than £50 worth) in previous years.

I enjoy decorating for halloween and it isn't hurting anyone.

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 26/10/2021 20:56

About £15 this year and the DC have made scary pictures, stuck faces on the windows etc. Making fake spiders out of cardboard and pretending to get scared when DD slides it under the door 😁

I spent about £40 last year with the intention of keeping them for DC to re use every year as they enjoy decorating the house, they got ruined when our pipes burst and only had a sad little plastic pumpkin left.

CheshireChat · 26/10/2021 20:56

I bought a couple of sets of orange lights, have a table cloth that's getting reused, I have window stickers which I usually reuse 2-3 years in a row. Also have a couple of decorations that I use all year round, but I expect most people would put away Wink.

NichyNoo · 26/10/2021 20:57

I’ve spent nothing. I’ve probably never even spent £50 on Christmas decorations!

hamstersarse · 26/10/2021 20:58

I honestly don’t get Halloween

What even is it?

GorgonzolaSouffle · 26/10/2021 20:58

£0

I loathe Halloween.

FourTeaFallOut · 26/10/2021 21:00

3 pumpkins and some fairy lights, about £15.

It's your money to do as you like with, enjoy. Do you have a link?

cooker321monster · 26/10/2021 21:00

Posh fabric pumpkins don't sound very scary to me!

ComtesseDeSpair · 26/10/2021 21:01

About £15 on pumpkins to carve and another £15 on an “autumnal wreath” for the front door because I couldn’t resist it at the wanky farmers’ market.

I must have spent about 100 hours I could have spent better making my mask though!
