How much would you spend on Halloween decorations

I've spent about £50 quid on some posh fabric pumpkins and other assorted stuff.

Make. Me. Feel. Better. What have you spent?

A few quid on some dressing up bits this year. Oh and some real pumpkins. Wish I could've spent more though. We do have boxes of stuff collected over the years though. Most years I spent £20-£30 so it does accumulate. It's nearly as big as Christmas in my family though. I don't have any Easter decorations at all but might start getting some of those too. We also make loads of stuff as well. I love special occasions. I wish I was on a big enough income to justify having lights and inflatables and stuff for the front garden, for Halloween and Christmas. Not even for my kids, for me. Love it 🎃 🧛🏻‍♀️ 👻 🦇 🍬 🎃

MalfunctioningRobot · 26/10/2021 21:17

A pumpkin each for my niece and nephew, £3 total.

However it’s also my brothers birthday on Halloween so I’ve bought him one of the glass pumpkin bowls from Home Bargains and filled it with sweets for him so about another £15ish on that.

thegreenlight · 26/10/2021 21:18

Oh, and we have our own fog machine because, y’know, spooky.

RuggerHug · 26/10/2021 21:20

britespark1 They're gorgeous!! Over the years, I dread to think but I usually get something new every year and they're all reused every year so no landfill tat.

RuggerHug · 26/10/2021 21:21

@hamstersarse

I honestly don’t get Halloween

What even is it?

CurryLover55 · 26/10/2021 21:23

Nothing but each to their own. I decorate for Christmas & have never bothered for Halloween. We haven’t even had a pumpkin for the last couple of years.

MiniPumpkin · 26/10/2021 21:23

About £30 including decorations from last year which will go up loft again for next year. It’s the sweets that are costing me! Trying to keeep costs to a minimum by going to Aldi/Lidl but it still adds up

TattySlippers · 26/10/2021 21:24

£0 not even a pumpkin here.

My GC don’t bother calling here for treat or treat 😂

When my children were young I dressed them up and escorted them treat or tricking. I’m done with that crap now tbh

KurtWildeWitchOfTheWoods · 26/10/2021 21:26

Ah completely forgot we spent £20 at the pick your own pumpkin. And I must've spent about a tenner on sweets because someone keeps emptying the trick or treat cauldron .. ahem..

I'm having a party on Saturday so I'll need to buy in food but it'll mostly be pizza, Doritos and some homemade cupcakes so shouldn't cost much. Depends if I go shopping on my own or take the DC 😂

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 26/10/2021 21:26

I like to decorate the fireplace. We get/make a little something each year, last year I bought spray paint and painted a load of wine & gin bottles black, they look great and will be rolled out each year with red candles burning in some of them. This year I got some orange fairy lights and we made little lanterns with orange tissue paper and left over jars from the recycling, which were good fun to make and we will keep for next year. Every year my DH draws a massive Halloween picture we pop in the frame above our fireplace.
So occasionally buy bits and do little crafty things we can keep year to year.
Oh and carve pumpkins obvs!

Barksmum12 · 26/10/2021 21:28

£50ish plus using last years decorations. I’d like some autumn lights.

Plus extra ribbon, sweet bags, party food. I love Halloween. 🎃

KurtWildeWitchOfTheWoods · 26/10/2021 21:30

Halloween is by far my favourite time of year. I started decorating for autumn in early September, and the decor gradually got spookier towards the end of September and as we went into October I went full morticia Grin

MajorCarolDanvers · 26/10/2021 21:31

@thegreenlight

Awesome. That sounds brilliant. Where did you get it?
RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 26/10/2021 21:34

@Stompythedinosaur

I've only bought pumpkins this year, but I've got the three boxes of Halloween decorations bought (definitely more than £50 worth) in previous years.

I enjoy decorating for halloween and it isn't hurting anyone.

This

Apart from the fact that i bought two gargoyle candle sticks

The family like them so they will probably stay out, we have a few boxes of things that come out every year

ParkheadParadise · 26/10/2021 21:34

Oh, I forgot to mention balloons that I've ordered for dd for Halloween 👻 🎃 that's another £20

NewMum0305 · 26/10/2021 21:36

@MaskingForIt I’m not one for Halloween but bloody hell, that comment was a bit much?!

user1493494961 · 26/10/2021 21:39

Nothing, I've never bought a Halloween decoration, it wouldn't cross my mind.

PicaK · 26/10/2021 21:39

Bought 4 pumpkins but not spent anything on THIS year's Hallowe'en.
But as soon as stuff goes in the sale I'll buy a few little bits for next year!

foxgoosefinch · 26/10/2021 21:45

I hate Hallowe’en but DD loves it. I have some pumpkin fairy lights (£4) and a couple of plastic skeletons MIL foisted on me - every year I string them up in the window and sit DD’s owl and bat cuddlies in front of the window with a paper witches’ hat on - job done!

What’s wrong with paper decorations? DD and I have been making a garland out of orange and black card - bats and pumpkins cut out and strung on cotton thread. More 50p than £50!

Exactly the same here Smile

I don't get all the hate for Halloween here.

KurtWildeWitchOfTheWoods · 26/10/2021 21:50

@ParadiseLaundry have a pumpkin 🎃 for loving Halloween

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 26/10/2021 21:52

I have a Halloween tree

(Repurposed christmas tree )

Chocolatewheatos · 26/10/2021 21:54

£2.50 on a pumpkin 🤨

IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 26/10/2021 21:56

@britespark1

I’ve gone a little crazy and crocheted lots of my own little ghosts and pumpkins 🎃
I love everything about your tableaux! Your ghosts are just lovely.
Hairyfriend · 26/10/2021 21:56

Same as I spend every year- £0
