How much would you spend on Halloween decorations

I've spent about £50 quid on some posh fabric pumpkins and other assorted stuff.

Make. Me. Feel. Better. What have you spent?

Catholics don't celebrate evil

YoungGiftedPlump · 26/10/2021 22:42

@KurtWildeWitchOfTheWoods

I don't get the catholic comment. Halloween isn't a religious festival.
It is all Hallows Eve. A religious festival
RoseMartha · 26/10/2021 22:43

£0
I do not celebrate Halloween

WhiskyXray · 26/10/2021 22:44

I celebrate evil but I don't put up Hallowe'en decs.

ParkheadParadise · 26/10/2021 22:45

@XpressoMartini

£0. I bought a pumpkin last week but it was to make a soup. We're catholic so we don't celebrate Halloween.
I'm Catholic I celebrate Halloween 👻

My mum was Holy Mary she dressed us up every year for Halloween. Maybe she was glad to get rid of the 6 of us for a couple of hours.😂😂

KurtWildeWitchOfTheWoods · 26/10/2021 22:51

I'm pagan. I love Halloween. My neighbours are Muslim. They love Halloween. I have catholic family who love Halloween. I guess it depends how you view it.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 26/10/2021 22:55

My mum was Catholic (as were we children)

We did games like apple bobbing, eating a donut off a string and peanut races that sort of thing

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 26/10/2021 22:56

We still do those games now

But we’ve added other silly games

jendifer · 26/10/2021 23:03

£0 here too. Can’t imagine however wanting to celebrate Halloween.

caketiger · 26/10/2021 23:14

£0. But I am contemplating a new Christmas tree!

MistyGreenAndBlue · 26/10/2021 23:49

Over the years - a sodding fortune 😂
In our defence we have a big Halloween party every year (we've had some stonking costumes)
We also like to make our own stuff too.
This year we made these for the front lawn and I have a video of our life size flying ghost but cant figure out how to link to it
We love it.

Screenshot of the ghost. We made a rig so she floats up and down and her arms move.

£2 on a pumpkin from Asda.
I think it’s what you were brought up with yourself a lot of the time. We didn’t ‘do’ Halloween as kids, so I don’t really know what to do with my own now. There’s not many kids in the nearby houses so I don’t want to take DS trick or treating. We’ll have a go at carving the pumpkin, but I don’t know how to ‘do’ Halloween.

Pinkfluffyunicornsandrainbows · 26/10/2021 23:58

This year about £40 but a couple of years ago i had a huge Halloween spending spree of over £200 (just after Halloween so everything was half price or less). Me and my children absolutely love Halloween (nearly as much as Christmas!) and i like the house and gardens to be decorated. Some people may think it's ott but we love it and that's all that matters, each to their own. I think if you can afford to spend it then that's all that matters, just don't live beyond your means.

Pinkfluffyunicornsandrainbows · 27/10/2021 00:00

@britespark1 I love them all 🎃👻🎃👻

ParkheadParadise · 27/10/2021 00:00

Can I come to your party? 🧙‍♀️🥂😈

@MistyGreenAndBlue those are bloody brilliant!!

MistyGreenAndBlue · 27/10/2021 00:07

Thank you Smile you should have seen Disco Drac Grin
He was epic

NoDecentHandlesLeft · 27/10/2021 00:14

If I had the energy/artistic talent I'd go nuts!
Unfortunately I don't and can't be arsed... so just a pumpkin to let people know to come and knock.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 27/10/2021 00:17

@britespark1 that’s the cutest little display ever! Halloween Smile I’m envious of your talent with a hook (supposed to be learning this year but I’m putting it off...).

Sadly OP I can’t help to make you feel better - I don’t do Halloween. When my girls were little I did spend maybe £20 on some decorations over a couple of years which I then kept and reused until they were older, mainly to decorate the front of the house so the neighbourhood children knew to come trick or treating. But that stopped years ago now.

I’ve bought some squashes for eating...and a bay essential oil for the living room, and I’ve put out the ceramic candle holders, but that’s really to mark the change of season into autumn/winter and to bring hygge to the darker evenings.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 27/10/2021 00:19

@MistyGreenAndBlue Very impressive!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 27/10/2021 00:42

nothing
we don't do Halloween

TheChosenTwo · 27/10/2021 00:44

Probably got £100 worth of shit in the loft, only things ever bought on sale in the Range on the day of Halloween!
We used to hold quite epic Halloween parties at the dcs request, I always hated it (and still
Do), it’s just another ‘thing’ and then our youngest came along with a birthday shortly after Halloween so I used that as an excuse to quietly ditch the Halloween parties, I think maybe we’ve done 2 since he’s been born (he’s about to turn 10), the decorations are going to a friend this week as she’s holding a party and I said I had some stuff she could use. It’s literally one day.
We bought some pumpkins from our local farm this week, dc are going to carve them this weekend (yet more work!) and I will try and get the dds to take the little out trick or treating while I throw sweets at anyone who knocks.
I don’t see it as anything to get excited about! It’s definitely just a chore to me.

Woeismethischristmas · 27/10/2021 00:54

Some pumpkins and battery operated tea lights.
