And fitted sheets?

I recently lost my grandmother and I have decided that I need to bloody well up my standards a bit - she had very high standards, and she's right!

I'm quite good at ironing generally, even work shirts but I just can't work out how to iron a massive duvet cover without it taking hours/being bloody difficult

I don’t! They go in the tumble dryer then folded or straight on the bed and look perfect. Life is way too short to iron fitted sheets and duvet covers.

berlinbabylon · 25/10/2021 14:26

I don't. They either get washed and put back on the bed with creases, or we take them to the dry cleaners to be washed and pressed. But we've not done that since covid started.

berlinbabylon · 25/10/2021 14:26

(because they were closed for a long time, not because we think we'll get covid from the sheets, in case you were wondering)

AICM · 25/10/2021 14:26

Why the fuck do you iron duvet covers?

Whatwouldnanado · 25/10/2021 14:27

Life is too short. Tumble dry, fold, done. Our local laundry would stick it through a roller press for a fiver.

Pottytraining37473 · 25/10/2021 14:27

I don’t! They just iron themselves out when I sleep on themGrin

SpangoDweller · 25/10/2021 14:27

Flowers with all the love and gentleness due to the loss of your grandmother…

just don’t, though. Honestly. Your time and effort is worth more than wrestling with duvet covers and irons.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 25/10/2021 14:28

Never ironed a duvet cover. Line dry, fold. Either back on bed, or in cupboard.

Warmduscher · 25/10/2021 14:28

Bless you - you don’t iron bedding!

I recently got rid of the tumble dryer, and didn't find sheets came out flat when I did used to dry them!

What's your secret?

100% cotton?

I don't iron bedding.

RachelHasThoseInBurgundy · 25/10/2021 14:28

Fold them in half and iron one side then flip and do the other.

With fitted sheets you fold in half matching the corner seems and hook the corner over the end of the board, iron that section, flip over and hook the other corner, iron that section, then hook a corner so you have the top edge section on the board, iron, then pull the sheet towards you and iron a section at a time.

I iron for a living and this is how I get perfect results.

Noorandapples · 25/10/2021 14:29

I think some people iron it on the bed, I don't iron though, nobody sees my bed!

blink18two · 25/10/2021 14:29

@AICM

Why the fuck do you iron duvet covers?
Because it looks so much better!

Echinops · 25/10/2021 14:29

I do at work, I fold it in half and half again, length ways, and iron down one side, then the other, then turn the fold the other way and iron those 2 sides, so I've done it in 4 panels, if that makes any sense.

blink18two · 25/10/2021 14:30

I dry them hanging up, either on the line or over the top bannisters, and they don't have creases.

PuppyMonkey · 25/10/2021 14:30

Honestly, OP, the secret is to not give a shit about something so unimportant.

Super king, I have two single duvets as putting the covers on is impossible. And I don't iron them

amusedbush · 25/10/2021 14:31

I don't own an iron.

I tumble dry everything and, in terms of clothes, I don't own anything formal or tailored that needs ironing. I'm happy with my life choices Grin

kanteeeeee · 25/10/2021 14:31

Buy some Crease Release spray, it's not perfect but it takes two seconds and is better than creased sheets.

silverbubbles · 25/10/2021 14:31

I have also started recently ironing sheets and have been watching youtube tutorials!!!

Its not easy but @RachelHasThoseInBurgundy has said how it is done.
