It matters because other people may believe this. Names are a public thing - it is about how everyone else sees you.

I wouldn't bat an eye at a Lucifer. lord knows it's better than some names in my kids class.

It’s not a name I’d choose, but equally I don’t think it’s any more shocking or worse than some of the others on the latest list!

It's marginally better than Adolf I suppose.

Maybe you could go as Luc or Louis instead

I don't know it is preferable to the silly trend of naming boys Teddy at the moment.

YANBU. Some parents forget they are naming an actual person who has to live with the name for their whole life. I’m on my phone and can’t view the data properly now but there were a number of boys named Baby as well 🤦‍♀️
And as I pointed out on another thread, 3 boys named Seedy.

I can see 15 boys going by Luc by the time they’re 15 🤣

There's definitely worse options out there. I couldn't get worked up about it. Unless the parents are sacrificing goats in public and have carved a pentagram into his forehead etc.

Exactly! I think it’s really really bad parenting to give your child a wacky name. A child is not a toy, not a plaything, not even an extension of you. It’s a living person, who will spend the majority of its life independent of its parents. If you want a wacky name, get a pet.

Quiet cool for the parents, who evidently do “like that kind of thing”. But what about the child? What if they don’t want to stand out in that way?

I really like it but I suppose it would be challenging to live with.
