Christmas

Am I being unreasonable to think that it is really no one elses business who Boris Johnson and his family spent Christmas with.
So maybe he did break the rules, but he had been working so hard and the rules kept changing, it is hardly unreasonable that he had some time with friends to relax is it?

You really haven't missed anything.
Some people have got terribly exercised that the Prime Minister spent last Christmas with one or more friends.

The rules were set by the government which he was the leader of. He claims it was a childcare bubble or new parent bubble or something like that which was obviously invented to help him, it particularly annoys me as my autistic 19 year old was banned from seeing both her parents because we don't live together for months on end!

Oh wait, he's rich. The rules don't apply.

Let's forget that it was the Covid rules, imposed but ignored by ministers that allowed Couzens to 'arrest' Sarah, shall we?
We had two other young women out on a walk surrounded by Police. There was a thread on her by a mother who had police behaving aggressively in front of her children when she was doing nothing wrong.
It isn't ok that's there's one rule for them and one for everyone else. Especially considering they have the ability to zoom and lots of space were they live. Unlike many.

it is not like you can smuggle a friend into the Prime Minister's residence with no-one noticing
It is entirely possible and dare I say probable.

Working hard is totally irrelevant. We all work hard.

If you want an illustration of how hard he works, he didn't even know who had paid for the wallpaper in his flat

This sentence alone illustrates just how deluded and gullible you are. Either that, or you’re a very subtle comedian.

We are once again a sovereign nation free to decide our own destiny away from the shackles of the EU.

And yet, and yet, as our fishing industry and M&S to name but two have belatedly discovered, if you want to sell into the EU, you do have to, yes, follow whatever rules they set.

Who would have thought it.

And now we have by lost all influence on those rules. Sigh

I am sure that if there is any evidence of rule breaking, then the Prime Minister will deal quickly and decisively with it as he did in making Dominic Cummings humilate himself in the garden and in sacking Matt Hancock so promptly when his indiscretions came to light.

OK, this is definitely a joke.

Yeah, there's no way this is a genuine thread. Unless someone is going slowly batshit crazy. Sorry op, but this is ridiculous. Your replies become more ridiculous as you go on and have become so mixed up it's no longer particularly clear what it is that you actually do think. You're all over the place. Think you might need to step back and read a CBeebies magazine or have a flick through a few copies of The Economist or Viz, if you can find any. But do have a lovely evening in your non-wasteland and remember you need to start ordering your Christmas presents because most of them are stuck in ports for the next 3 months due to your idol's fabulous Brexit success. But don't worry that they won't be able to get their child(ren?) the presents in time; he arranged all that last Christmas with his friends and family, whilst working very, very, vewwy hard, because he knew shit was gonna hit the fan in a million ways by this Xmas. And I do realise you'd be feeling so bad for him had he not already sorted all the presents for all his people that he'll be inviting over for Xmas, (whilst working vewwy hard, remember), so try not to lose any sleep over that.
Bless you, get your head down for a bit...

Thank you for your kind words.

I am quite disappointed, but equally pleased that there has hardly been a poster actually trying to defend Boris this time around.
Perhaps the tide is turning.

The only bit of this thread defending Boris that has a glimmer of truth is that folks were daft to follow the rules and miss out on seeing loved ones at Christmas, especially for the last time. When it was plainly obvious that somewhere down the line it would transpire that only the "mugs" did that and everyone else was following our glorious leader's example and doing whatever the hell they wanted.

He's made people who want to do the right thing, because they feel it's important, feel stupid for doing so. He has no control over the country he's leading. That's why he's a shit prime minister. He has no confidence from the public, no authority and everyone expects him to be full of shit. A dangerous combination when we needed the public to come together and act as a functioning society to protect the vulnerable.

That's why it matters.

I hope history records him and his self-serving piss-taking cabinet as they deserve to be. I certainly won't ever forget.

Once we'd seen the nonsense from Cummings, and the way the Tories all leapt to his defence, then a lot of us must have thought that we would use our own discretion as to how to behave as long as the Covid police didn't get us. Covid police could be actual police or tale telling neighbours.
