Christmas

Am I being unreasonable to think that it is really no one elses business who Boris Johnson and his family spent Christmas with.

So maybe he did break the rules, but he had been working so hard and the rules kept changing, it is hardly unreasonable that he had some time with friends to relax is it?

I have belatedly checked out your posting history @jgw1 Quite the cheer leader for our esteemed prime minister, aren't you?

This is what we have come to.

Roselilly36 · 19/10/2021 12:24

@PurpleDaisies

He is the prime minister. He is the one who imposed the rules on everyone. Of course it matters.

I'm also agog that you think the Brexit transition is at an end @jgw1. It's only just beginning!

SarahBellam · 19/10/2021 12:27

Are you Boris Johnson’s wife? I think if doctors and nurses sacrificed family christmases then why should Johnson think he deserves a free pass. Was his eyesight dodgy too?

jerometheturnipking · 19/10/2021 12:27

And that is precisely why we have such a clown supposedly leading our country post Brexit and through a global pandemic. Hmm Give me strength!

Well that's a stretch. Arsehole does something on Christmas Day last year, people are talking about that now and not the soaring fuel costs. Yet being more concerned about the latter is the problem. Ok then. Seems to me that that is more of an explanation for such a clown supposedly leading our country post Brexit and through a global pandemic. Distract the people with, what is ultimately, an irrelevance from the past to avoid a current problem.

NCKM · 19/10/2021 12:28

It's nobody's business that I had a family party with at least four other households over, at a time when Christmas socialising was supposed to be cancelled....

oh, wait. Spent it alone. As did many, many others.

You can't have it both ways. His behaviour is none of our business then ours is none of his.

Tee20x · 19/10/2021 12:29

LOL this can't be real

BonnesVacances · 19/10/2021 12:31

@Brefugee

Boris will have been hard at work for much of the time, remember we were in the middle of a pandemic

give over. He is a lazy arse. An incompetent lazy arse. You should never have married him

ConstanceGracy · 19/10/2021 12:31

Is this a fucking joke?!
Of course it’s our bloody business! He’s the prime minister ffs!! It was ok for them to break the rules but the rest of us had to follow them which meant many spent Christmas alone?
Piss right off with that bullshit.

TheOnlyMrsM · 19/10/2021 12:36

A few people who HAVE been working so hard : staff in hospitals and mortuaries, ambulance crew, vaccine developers/producers/administrators, care home, school and supermarket staff and many more in essential services kept going through this pandemic often by blood, sweat and tears; not forgetting unpaid family carers largely left to fend for themselves and their loved one 24/7 for the last 18 months.

So maybe he did break the rules
really no one elses business...
some time with friends to relax
Meanwhile, many people could not see their dear family or friends, could not attend the bedsides of their beloved gravely ill or dying or the funerals of those who had died who they loved; women laboured and lost babies alone; people died alone save for hopefully highly caring strangers.

I don't know if the OP is a goady troll, being paid or genuinely believes this - I'll leave that to MNHQ - but either way I feel sorry for them.

Clutterbugsmum · 19/10/2021 12:37

@toocold54

Is that you Boris?
Definitely not Borris.

He would be spouting a load of crap, talking around the houses and still say nothing.

I'm more surprised that some people are shocked that he didn't follow his own rules.

SuperstoreFan · 19/10/2021 12:39

I saw this post on Twitter yesterday and I agree:

"Why did they need childcare? My parents missed their first Christmas with their first grandchild yet Boris and Carrie had a mate round?!"

Boris should be leading by example.

backformoreagain · 19/10/2021 12:39

I would prefer not to be governed by a hypocrite and a liar.

Secretive corruption undermines democracy.

Plus Saint Carrie is exposed for what she really is.

jgw1 · 19/10/2021 12:41

I am sure that if there is any evidence of rule breaking, then the Prime Minister will deal quickly and decisively with it as he did in making Dominic Cummings humilate himself in the garden and in sacking Matt Hancock so promptly when his indiscretions came to light.

Nat6999 · 19/10/2021 12:41

If he can't keep the rules, why should any of us?

Mulhollandmagoo · 19/10/2021 12:42

you are so unreasonable its beyond belief! MPs we not immune to the rules, they decided them, they set them and crucially they expected us to abide by them....and then didn't themselves! that was unfair!

If I were the PM and I had put huge restrictions on the whole countries freedom I would be hammering home to them that they stick to each and every rule to the letter so we led by example, surely that's the decent thing to do!

People had to say their final goodbyes to loved ones on an iPad for fuck sake, have a word with yourself!!

He didn't sack Matt Hancock....he defended him! Matt Hancock resigned because he knew he would never have the publics trust oir respect ever again!
vixeyann · 19/10/2021 12:43

Your job as Prime Minister is to lead by example...of course YABU. If he can't manage a simple task when the country is balls deep in a pandemic, what hope is there that people have confidence in him to do the right thing.

Sparklesocks · 19/10/2021 12:43

Nah it’s bellend behaviour.
I don’t know why some people work so hard to defend him. He doesn’t know who you are and doesn’t give a single shit about you.

DILevil · 19/10/2021 12:43
@jgw1 - we're still in the middle of a pandemic. And Brexit is still a shit show.
This. Still pandemic. Still being slighted at by other coir tire for getting rid of masks for “freedom”.

I take it you weren’t alone on Christmas last year FaceTiming relatives on their own too?

DILevil · 19/10/2021 12:44

Was meant to OP, not the poster I quoted, who I agree with!

etopp · 19/10/2021 12:46

What Boris Johnson did at Christmas is of no interest to me. What's of more interest to me is the number of people who were prepared to follow the rules so blindly and not make their own informed decisions about whom to see and when to see them. I said all along (on here, with boring regularity) that if the people making the rules were breaking them, there was no good reason for them to be in place at all. It's a fascinating exercise in how easily the public can be manipulated by fear

TravelLost · 19/10/2021 12:47

Everyone was working hard and everyone had to deal with rules changing.
HE was the one who decided of changing the rules anyway!!

Oh do fuck off. He put much of the country into an imposed lockdown during Christmas. He should be able to live by the rules which he is imposing on others.

I didn't have a big family Christmas, despite also working hard. He literally had to OK any change of rules and he went ahead and broke them. We didn't have the same privilege

TravelLost · 19/10/2021 12:48

You think he is going to sack himself for breaking the rules HE created? Grin

I think you are very naive….
