Christmas

Am I being unreasonable to think that it is really no one elses business who Boris Johnson and his family spent Christmas with.
So maybe he did break the rules, but he had been working so hard and the rules kept changing, it is hardly unreasonable that he had some time with friends to relax is it?

Boris will have been hard at work for much of the time, remember we were in the middle of a pandemic
@ilovesooty that isn’t correct. There was a support bubble for those with children under the age on one. It was completely different to the childcare bubble and you could socialise within it.
Even if that's so she had her mother in her support bubble. I doubt if she needed external childcare over Christmas.

Even if they did, it was drop the child off and pick them up after. Not socialise together.

I've just realised this is the same poster who posted that goady thread about the wonderful UK under the wise and entertaining Boris Johnson.

@jgw1 - we're still in the middle of a pandemic. And Brexit is still a shit show.

I just don't understand, he was leading the country in a time of crisis, he maybe wont even have been able to spend the whole day with his young family due to the amount of work he has to do, and apparently it is headline news that he had a few friends round 10months ago.
Seriously is this what we have come to?

If you 'don't understand' OP then may I suggest you are a little bit....unintelligent if not downright thick, mate.?

I can't see any reason why they needed a childcare support bubble over Christmas.

Boris will have been hard at work for much of the time, remember we were in the middle of a pandemic, the NHS was falling apart because people kept getting ill, the Brexit transition period was nearly at and end and due to the Europeans not agreeing until the last moment the new rules there was a very real possibility of empty shelves and petrol stations. Boris moved heaven and earth to make sure that did not happen.
It is hardly unreasonable that his long suffering wife have a friend around for a few hours.

I don't think you can describe Carrie as 'long suffering'. They haven't been married long. She has her youth and health.

His previous wife was 'long suffering' though, quite literally. Especially when she had to endure months of chemotherapy while Boris was off shagging other women. That's what I'd describe as 'long suffering'. What a lovely man he is eh?

When he imposed rules in everyone else then of course it matters. Why should he break the rules? Everyone in the country was told we could spend Christmas with family then it changed last minute for most people!!

But was he? He went off to sort out his divorce rather than going to a cobra meeting. Was it the first 4 or 5 cobra meetings he missed?

Exactly what isn't clear?

Boris said no mixing over Christmas, for everyone. He did the opposite of that. He's meant to be the one leading by example.

Unless, Op, you did the same? Then it's ok right?

No.

I am no royalist but even the Queen respected the pandemic restrictions, choosing only 30 people to attend her husband's funeral and sitting alone during the service with everyone practicing social distancing

The death of a long time spouse is a lot more important than Christmas but the Queen still kept the restrictions. Boris has no excuse.

"moved heaven and earth"? Delusional.

He's a bloviating senescent fratboy - I can't imagine how limited your intelligence must be if you genuinely find him admirable.

This whole thread could be condensed into four words: Boris is a cunt.

Why don't we all just type those 4 words in and save ourselves the hassle. Or post a link to the brilliant 'Boris Johnson is a fucking cunt' by The Kunts.

I can't tell if this post is a joke or not..?

Lots of people were working very hard during the pandemic and they were not allowed to see friends and family. Boris Johnson et al set the rules, so they should abide by them, just like everyone else.

If you are genuinely living in a country where the head of the government (not the head of state) is simply not required to follow the rules set by, yes, the government he heads up then you might think it is nobody's business what he does.

As it happens, I disagree, I think he should be setting a good example and penalising ministers who break the rules.

There again, I think the PM should not lie to parliament so what do it know.

You’ve got to be taking the piss.

‘Long suffering wife’?.....her husband is a politician, some people have partners fighting wars away from home for months at a time, or partners who run into burning buildings for a living!

If these people have to follow the rules, then so should Boris, he isn’t above the law!
