AIBU to ask if you had menstrual issues after the covid vaccine?

Wish I could start a poll. Feeling utterly spent right now. Admittedly I've put off vaccination due to the reported menstrual issues but now I've had a bit if change of heart that we are starting fertility treatments. I want to be able to enjoy this pregnancy instead of worrying about covid, it will already be tough enough after a year and 2 miscarriages.

It would really help to hear from women and what they actually experienced as far as menstrual disruption. Please reply even if everything was fine. I'm trying to get as much info as I can. Would you mind sharing which vaccine you got and if you had cycle disruption, what happened and how long did it last?

I had Pfizer and my periods are heavier. Don’t know if that helps.

LeavesOffTheCactus · 18/10/2021 19:39

I had Pfizer and no menstrual disruption. No change in dates or heaviness of period.

SirensofTitan · 18/10/2021 19:40

No need to start a poll, this has been the subject of proper research for some time now

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will enable to tell you how to find out about the studies

Way more useful than random anecdata imo

I had AZ and had no period for 6 months but I am peri-menopausal. These were the first periods I've ever missed, well apart from PG and BFing. When they came back after 6 months they e been fairly regular again.

Idontbelieveit14 · 18/10/2021 19:41

I had AstraZeneca, no disruption

Tal45 · 18/10/2021 19:41

I had AZ and no different periods.

Suzi888 · 18/10/2021 19:42

Astra Zeneca, no change to periods.

dementedpixie · 18/10/2021 19:42

Have had 2 AZ - period a few days late after the 1st and no issues after the 2nd

SBAM · 18/10/2021 19:42

I had Pfizer (had both doses 12 weeks apart as recommended) and didn’t notice anything unusual. Mine are heavy anyway but wasn’t late/early/missing.

Pamparam · 18/10/2021 19:44

I had Pfizer and got pregnant the next month after the second dose

Workinghardeveryday · 18/10/2021 19:44

I had az, since having it periods straight away have been much shorter. I usually have a cycle of 30/35 days. Changed to 21 there after.

Also had much heavier periods, period pains and backache which I get probably annually.

Aderyn21 · 18/10/2021 19:44

Pfizer. Have missed a couple of periods since. Am also menopausal but had not missed periods prior to vaccination.

CoffeeWithCheese · 18/10/2021 19:45

Yep - AZ - was in the first "healthcare worker" wave and I've had short as fuck cycles ever since - heavy as hell and when I'm not on I'm in PMT country. No sign of it resolving.

Also sent my allergies absolutely bonkers - I'm a perma itchy allergic mess to stuff now.

I give it a page before the "I'd rather have funny periods than be on a ventilator" empathy bypass person arrives.

OverTheRubicon · 18/10/2021 19:45

No change at all.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 18/10/2021 19:45

I had the AZ due to having a chronic illness (under 40). My periods have been bizarre ever since. Nothing like I've had before: heavier; more painful; cycle has changed length slightly. Hopefully it'll chill out a bit!

Maverickess · 18/10/2021 19:46

I had AZ no change after the first one, 6 weeks late after the second one and irregular since, I am 42 though, may be natural changes.

Itsnotalwaysme · 18/10/2021 19:46

I had Pfizer. After second vaccination I had one cycle of bleeding through my pill which had never happened before

Blackbootswithredribbons · 18/10/2021 19:46

Pfizer, absolutely fine! Or at least no worse than normal Grin

peoplearepeople · 18/10/2021 19:47

AstraZeneca. -1st dose I had the heaviest most painful period of my life just afterwards. It was about a week too early as well and I'm normally like clockwork. 2nd dose - Heavier and more painful again, but then back to normal following that.

4kinell · 18/10/2021 19:48

I had Pfizer missed a period after 1st jab and next one was very heavy. I had just started my period when I had 2nd jab and had no disruption after that

PinkiOcelot · 18/10/2021 19:48

One of my friends had the AZ and bled for months with no break. She hasn’t mentioned it for a while, so I’m presuming she’s ok now.

marmaduke888 · 18/10/2021 19:48

AstraZeneca, early period (around 10 days early which is unusual as I’m usually regular as clockwork) after first jab, back to normal the following cycle

EmmaOvary · 18/10/2021 19:49

AZ, no difference.

HoHoHoHoHoHoHo · 18/10/2021 19:50

Double dosed Pfizer - I normally have very very irregular periods. Both times after each vaccine I had a period (7 days and 8 days after each vaccine) completely out of whack with my usual irregular cycles. My most recent jab, I had four days after coming off my period then 8 days later had another super heavy full period. So a 12 day cycle. It was horrendous! Currently on cycle 27 of TTC and it's really hard to see such an obvious effect of the vaccine on my cycles.

secondorange · 18/10/2021 19:50

Also when did you have the vaccine in the cycle? Do you all feel like that made a difference or no?
