AIBU to ask if you had menstrual issues after the covid vaccine?

Wish I could start a poll. Feeling utterly spent right now. Admittedly I've put off vaccination due to the reported menstrual issues but now I've had a bit if change of heart that we are starting fertility treatments. I want to be able to enjoy this pregnancy instead of worrying about covid, it will already be tough enough after a year and 2 miscarriages.

It would really help to hear from women and what they actually experienced as far as menstrual disruption. Please reply even if everything was fine. I'm trying to get as much info as I can. Would you mind sharing which vaccine you got and if you had cycle disruption, what happened and how long did it last?

I've missed periods since being vaccinated, which I never did before, but I am in the age range for perimenopause so could be that.

Beachbabe1 · 18/10/2021 19:51

Pfizer jab...disrupted cycle..I was late every cycle for 4 months and normally I'm like clockwork.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/10/2021 19:51

No idea where in my cycle I was tbh.

PurpleDaisies · 18/10/2021 19:51

No issues at all

alostsock · 18/10/2021 19:52

Pfizer, 2 really light ones (on time) then back to normal unfortunately!

YerAWizardHarry · 18/10/2021 19:52

Moderna and no issues at all

Willow231 · 18/10/2021 19:52

The first jab I had no issues. The second one I got in July, I had changes. My period in August was over 2 weeks early. Not long had my last one and the next one arrived. In September it was 11 days late (thought I was pregnant with a much wanted baby. Even had several evap lines. That was fun). And this month it was 3 days early. Not normally like me to be up and down so much, especially several months in a row.

Dancingalong · 18/10/2021 19:52

I had Pfizer and my cycles are getting shorter every month. I was always 28-30 day cycle and since the jab it’s getting shorter, 24 days last month so we’ll see what happens this month. Periods have been fairly light, one of them lasted 2 days and was done.

Magnalux · 18/10/2021 19:52

Moderna… my usual 28 day cycle was reduced to 19 days after the second dose.. it went back to normal after one cycle though

Driposaurus · 18/10/2021 19:53

Pfizer, despite being a 28-30 day cycle usually, most of the months since have been 22-24 days.

Sweetpeasaremadeofcheese · 18/10/2021 19:53

After my 1st Pfizer my period started early and just kept going and going...for over two weeks. Nothing after second dose.

IVflytrap · 18/10/2021 19:53

AZ, and they actually seem to have sorted themselves out since I got my second jab. I have PCOS and they used to be all over the place.

DeepaBeesKit · 18/10/2021 19:54

AZ. Period about 4 days early after first dose (normally clockwork). Didnt notice anything after second dose. I'm only 36 but had AZ as got it before they decided only pfizer under 40.

SickAndTiredAgain · 18/10/2021 19:55

Had Pfizer, no issues.
The first one I had three days in to my period, the next period came like normal.
The second one I had a few days before my period was due I think, and it came as normal.
We were ttc so I was tracking ovulation etc and there weren’t any changes at all. And I’m now 7 weeks pregnant.

Athinginitself · 18/10/2021 19:55

My next period was a few days early (v unusual for me) but everything since then has been fine and no change at all after the 2nd dose.

Chanel05 · 18/10/2021 19:56

I'm ttc so have been tracking my cycles for a while. My cycles were 29 days and the cycle after my first Pfizer, I had a 25 day cycle. I had my second dose two weeks ago and I'm on cd6 so I'm wondering whether there will be another shorter cycle.

I'm ttc#2 and this is only my second cycle trying but it takes me ages to get pregnant anyway so I don't think I'd see the difference.

starpatch · 18/10/2021 19:57

No I didn't.

IVflytrap · 18/10/2021 19:58

OP, just to point out, a lot of people who had no changes to their cycle won't bother to click on this thread, so you probably will get more answers skewed more towards people who experienced changes.

Chanel05 · 18/10/2021 19:58

A friend of mine had AZ and she had been through menopause for over 7 years. The day after her jab, she bled heavily for a week.

Clarice99 · 18/10/2021 19:58

I'm post menopausal, no periods for around 5 years.

After my 2nd AZ jab, I had a heavy, painful period, lasted for 8 days, which was the usual duration for my cycle.

A couple of weeks prior to the 2nd jab, I'd undergone a hysteroscopy and had the all clear, so there was no other reason for the period other than the vaccine. Weird!

thehairyhog · 18/10/2021 19:58

Had moderna jab 1 around time of AF. AF came no problem and immediately got pregnant that cycle! Had been trying around 6 months, though I credit success to realising we needed to DTD earlier on in my cycle as I was ovulating quite early in the cycle. Had jab 2 once in 2nd trimester. No problems at all this far, scan all ok.

thehairyhog · 18/10/2021 20:00

Oh, my sister had AZ, experienced menstruation disruption. None for some time (thought peri-menopause) then eventually awful heavy painful period.

FuckingFabulous · 18/10/2021 20:00

Az. Period before every 31 days, bled for 7, several days of flooding and dizziness.

Now, Short cycles, long bleeding. Cycles are 23 days, bleeding is for 8-11 days, heavier and several days with flooding and huge clots accompanied by pain, lightheadedness and a flu like feeling

ThinWomansBrain · 18/10/2021 20:00

I'm post menopausal - no idea if linked or not, this thread had made me think about it.
Since AZ (& Covid just before), I've experienced repeated thrush & bladder weakness plus vaginal atrophy- now resolved by using Ovestin (Oestrogen HRT).

I think I had been post menopausal for several years - it hadn't occurred to me that COVID or AZ might have set this chain of events off.

milcal · 18/10/2021 20:00

I've had 3 Pfizer's and nothing noticeable. I am peri menopausal though and periods are still kind of normal.
