My son have shaved his head. His beautiful beautiful curls are no more. 😭

He's 21.
Hair grows back.
It's his hair.
Yes I am being ridiculous.
I'm also blatantly abusing AIBU so you can have a pop at me for that too. 🤣

Oh my. At least he will spend less time in the shower and use less shampoo now!

zebrarobot · 12/10/2021 12:03

Does he like it OP?

It's a brave move as you don't really know if you have an unfortunate head shape until you shave your head. Anyway it'll grow back.

TertiusLydgate · 12/10/2021 12:04

I live in fear of my sons chopping off their glorious curls. Shaving in particular. I often tell them they have weird shaped heads to put them off 😆

So YANBU.

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/10/2021 12:19

Aww bless you. I bet he looks awesome with and without his curls.

Mumdiva99 · 12/10/2021 12:21

But what is your AIBU? You can't post here without a dilemma you know....Smile

PineappleWilson · 12/10/2021 12:22

does your son know he has pride of place on here? YABVU but I'd be equally bereft if my kids were old enough for ear stretching piercings or mad hair colour.

His new style looks beautiful though. I'd spend all day on the sofa stroking his head.

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 12/10/2021 12:22

He's got a really nice shaped head. Suits him.

1forAll74 · 12/10/2021 12:23

Shockingly awful. What is the reason for this. Winter is coming, he needs to have a warm head. The hair looked lovely before.

IamMaz · 12/10/2021 12:23

This is mine - aged 29 and not had a hair cut since Covid.
I took this photo of him after he'd driven to see me, soaking wet, from jumping into a local river with his mates!!! Didn't have a comb or hairbrush on him!!!

1forAll74 · 12/10/2021 12:24

Or maybe it was for some charity event.

Jesus I pay very good money to have my hair look like this and it never bloody does
SylvanasWindrunner · 12/10/2021 12:25

@IamMaz God, I'd kill for hair like that! It's gorgeous

Sparkletastic · 12/10/2021 12:27

Much cooler tbh

IamMaz · 12/10/2021 12:28

I know !!!! Tell me about it..... Confused

I don't have one. I'm just that wrong. 😁 Ooh your lad's curls are glorious, Max.

I think there's a bit of 'my baby is a man, waaa!' going on tbh.
His hair, if unbrushed, goes into gorgeous ringlets and he looks like he did when he was 5.
He's my youngest and he's a big bloke now. Where did my babies go.

🙄 God I just got even more unreasonable, didn't I

You are 100% not being unreasonable. Those glorious curls!

I have a minor heart attack everytime my boy has a trim. I hover round the poor barber occasionally squeaking 'not too much!!!' like a mad woman.

He does. He thinks I'm stupid. 🤣

One of my Uni flatmates (decades ago) shaved his head, he had beautiful black curly hair. When I first saw it, the first thing out of my mouth was "What did your mum think?"

His reply: "She cried"

I think it must be a rite of passage for curly haired boys and their mums Flowers

Are you from the House of Stark?
RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 12/10/2021 12:48

If you cry onto his head your tears may encourage regrowth.

You know YABU but also YANBU Smile

It's a good point though, I don't even like shaving my legs in winter. Brrr

3scape · 12/10/2021 12:50

My daughter has done something similar. Mid back length red curls to shaved back/ sides and no. 8 top blended in.
It's very cool etc, it's her hair, it's so much easier to maintain. But I miss her beautiful hair.

3scape · 12/10/2021 12:52

I am trying to stay positive about the money to be saved on special brushes and conditioner.

It will grow back very quickly. My husband's hair is like this and the locks return with great speed. I like any style except fully shaven but that's because I find it unattractive, but that won't apply to you, so don't worry it will not be long before it comes back.

I also have a controlling view of my child's hair. So do most mothers to be honest. One friend of mine said if she had her hair cut short her mother would be very upset. She was 25 years old.
