My son have shaved his head. His beautiful beautiful curls are no more. 😭

He's 21.
Hair grows back.
It's his hair.
Yes I am being ridiculous.
I'm also blatantly abusing AIBU so you can have a pop at me for that too. 🤣

I bet his head feels fantastic Grin I work with children who have severe autism and a few of the boys have really short clippered hair due to the fact they have to be more or less pinned down to cut it, so it gets buzzed off a few times a year... I love their velcro-ed little heads !

My sons have both had long hair, buzzed hair and everything in between..it's just hair ! Now at 24 and 28 they are both losing their hair like their dad... now THAT'S a lot sadder!!!!

My first thought is that he looks older with a shaved head (which is weird considering I've only seen the back of his head). I'm guessing he's quite muscular, and that head and neck could easily belong to a 40 year old. I'm wondering if that was his aim - to be seen as older and taken seriously.

Yes, his old hair was lovely. I can understand how you loved it. I bet he'll go through quite a few other looks while he's young and not sure of his style yet.

I don't think YABU at all to be sad. It would B a bit U to give him a hard time over it or try to guilt trip him into growing it back, but you haven't said you're doing that.

This is a fairly recent picture of my DS, who is a couple of years older than yours. His hair is even a bit longer now, down to his shoulders. I like it aesthetically, but I don't like the reasoning behind it - he has basically had it long for so long now that, even though he is bored with it, he's nervous about getting it cut. So I would actually like him to get it cut, because it would mean he was going out of his comfort zone and not just being stuck in a rut. In some ways I admire your DS for having the confidence to go for something so different!

My eldest son went through a phase of shaving off this thick, wavy hair. He looked like a criminal with a bald head. He's 40 now, his hair is lovely again.

YANBU. I cried when DS's curls got the chop.

It looks so much better after the cut.
