To say that you are not a true Christian

If you do not want to help someone who you claim is important to you? When you know they are struggling emotionally and with health issues?
I know someone like this and it surely goes against all their values?

Lots of people think they are real Christians who do things or think things lots of other Christians don’t agree with. I assume you’re posting this because someone isn’t helping you and they say they’re Christian. I think it might be easier to tell us the problem you’re facing rather than making it look like you’re judging people, OP.

Much more context needed. St James says faith shall be proved by good deeds but doesn't specify which good deeds. Plus if you don't always get Christianity right you can still repent.

You could also say its not Christian to be judgemental. So all told I think YABU. Best concern yourself with your own faith (or lack of) and let God deal with the person irking you!

Fortunately (for me anyway) you don’t have to be perfect to be a Christian. In fact Jesus always preferred to hang out with the less desirable or less valued people in society. He always said the sick were the most in need of a doctor.
Christians, like atheists, are made up of all sorts of people. Some are amazing and giving, others are not so far along the path towards God.
I am a Christian. I try my best but I am most definitely a flawed human being. Thankfully Jesus loves me anyway.

Your post clearly has a back story and is your perspective. Obviously none of us have no idea what is going on.

'Helping' isn't always 'doing what the person who wants help, is wanting'. I can't vote unless you want to tell us what we are actually voting about.

You can’t judge someone by whether they are doing what you want them to.

What help do you need and do they have the resources (time/energy/whatever) to help you?

If you were skint and they were loaded whether they help you or not doesn’t mean anything about “how good a Christian” they are.

They might have done it in the name of Christianity but they were probably taking the name in vain. Most likely it was human greed and the desire for power.

Hands up I am no theologian, but surely if you ‘follow’ the guy who hung out with ‘the less desirable or less valued people in society’ you wouldn’t be a shit? Otherwise it’s like being a football fan and just name checking a team but never actually knowing who plays/when/where etc?

If you just mean someone who goes to church to show they are better than people who don’t then yes they are often shits but i wouldn’t call them Christians, I would call them self-serving social try-hards.

The thing is, OP, you could be asking us to pile on a relative who has done nothing but help you and you’ve, say, stolen from them repeatedly and has finally stepped back. Or it’s a friend with an empty house who won’t let you stay there when you’re trying to leave a husband who beats you black and blue.

Exactly. It's impossible for even the most caring person to help everybody who wants or needs their help.

Depends on so many things. If you're looking for a gotcha for someone you supposedly care about and you are setting out to attack their faith...then maybe you don't have a very good relationship with them?

As a pp said, even good people, Christian or otherwise, don't have infinite time and resources to help everyone.

Thing about us Christians (and all of us) are that we are all sinners and that is exactly why we need Jesus in our lives! I know I muck up a huge amount of things on a daily basis but I try hard not to and I try and repent for what I've done. I am lucky though that Jesus has already died for my sins. And this person will be the same! Life is far from easy being a Christian and judgement of other people of how we should or shouldn't live our lives doesn't always help!
