I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

I would also be careful on the Eton point. Lots of the labour party are also privately educated.

Eton really should be sitting up and paying attention. Two of their past pupils recklessly gambled away the wellbeing of this country. Eton should be taking a long hard look at the values they teach.Hmm

“If gay marriage was OK – and I was uncertain on the issue – then I saw no reason in principle why a union should not be consecrated between three men, as well as two men, or indeed three men and a dog."

Limejuiceandrum · 26/09/2021 18:55

Working class men are ‘criminal’ and ‘hopeless’

Limejuiceandrum · 26/09/2021 18:55

Lower income families produce ‘unloved’ children

Limejuiceandrum · 26/09/2021 18:56

children of working mothers are “ill-raised, ignorant, aggressive and illegitimate children who in theory will be paying for our pensions”.

Badbadbunny · 26/09/2021 18:56

And that's why the Labour party continue to be unelectable. They come across as a party of hate & envy which are very unattractive traits to the majority of the electorate.

That’s an excellent point.
CallMeNutribullet · 26/09/2021 18:58

I don't disagree with her comments but they're not really applicable in a profession setting.

What I totally disagree with is her saying that in Northern, working class communities, the word scum isn't a big deal and is used casually. That's just patronising and offensive

Limejuiceandrum · 26/09/2021 18:58

young people “have an almost Nigerian interest in money and gadgets of all kinds”

Limejuiceandrum · 26/09/2021 19:01

Liverpool had made scapegoats of the police in the Hillsborough disaster, while refusing to acknowledge the part played by “drunken” fans “mindlessly” trying to fight their way in.

Zzzexhaustedzzz · 26/09/2021 19:07

She is merely saying what so many feel now. This government are all those things and more. An embarrassment at home and internationally. A disgusting cover for the fat cats to get fatter. The UK has gone to the dogs.

emuloc · 26/09/2021 19:09

@EnjoyingTheSilence

I don’t understand why more people aren’t saying it
This.
Limejuiceandrum · 26/09/2021 19:10

The difference between Boris’s comments and Angela’s is that, most people deep down agree with what Boris says.
That’s why he’s popular

ilovesooty · 26/09/2021 19:11

@Pixxie7

She has said she will apologise when Boris does about all his past comments.
Apparently Johnson's past comments shouldn't be interpreted negatively. If you do interpret them negatively English can't be your mother tongue - according to a post I read today.
AnyFucker · 26/09/2021 19:14

Comments like Ms Rayner made have no place in politics

She has shown how simply name calling is no substitute for intelligent commenting.

Stooping so low says nothing about her targets and everything about her

I do agree with elements of what she said but she has not helped either her party, their attempts to become a viable opposition, nor her own personal ambition

Limejuiceandrum · 26/09/2021 19:16

@AnyFucker
So letter box is ok is it!
Politics is an open field, bullshit is there no place for anything, you can say what you want, you just have to hope it’s popular with the voters.

Pixxie7 · 26/09/2021 19:18

Do you really think that people agree with comments like bodies pile up, water melon smiles and letter box?
I also think that the latest solution re temporary visas is arrogant and insulting why would people who have essentially been used and then discarded want to come back and sort out the mess caused by the government?

OP posts:
Lightswitch123 · 26/09/2021 19:20

She has zero tact, diplomacy or eloquence and I would never in a million vote Labour again while she's around.

Her comments today made her appear even more like a dranged fishwife and ever further from being a credible politician.

She's simply unhinged and embarrassing.

isadoradancing123 · 26/09/2021 19:20

She is a liability and labour will never make progress with the likes of her at the helm, she is unprofessional, uncouth, and a loudmouth

Bancha · 26/09/2021 19:21

The thing is, the left (and I am left wing - and politically homeless at the moment) are the first to criticise when right wing politicians ‘tell it like it is’ - so I don’t see how it’s any different when left wing politicians do the same. It’s not acceptable for an MP to speak that way.

One female Labour MP says that women have a cervix (the wrong kind of ‘hate’) and she is abused to the extent that she cannot attend the Labour Party conference. Another female Labour MP calls the prime minister scum and that’s fine (the right kind of hate). It’s terrifying and embarrassing.

HermioneWeasley · 26/09/2021 19:24

She wasnts

Moonwatcher1234 · 26/09/2021 19:24

Look, I, like all sane people, despair of our current crop but I cringed when I read Angela rayner say something on Twitter to raab like “hurts being corrected by a girl who left school at 16 doesn’t it?” It should actually hurt being corrected by anyone with half a brain cell (which is not difficult where Dominic raab is concerned.

I just felt it was a bit annoying and would turn people off albeit she has a very inspiring back story. I guess it came across as ungracious when she had already shown him up so roundly and deservedly.

AliceAbsolum · 26/09/2021 19:24

She's a joke. That kind of language has no place in civil society. This kind of behavior is why Labour lost so badly and will do so in the future. She's so blinded by "the evil ones" that she sounds like a proper madwoman.

AnyFucker · 26/09/2021 19:24

So letter box is ok is it!

Did I say that ? Dragging discourse down to the lowest common denominator is not the answer.

jeanne16 · 26/09/2021 19:24

Seriously if all she can manage is to spout juvenile insults, then it does not reflect well on her. We need a slightly more sophisticated debate.
