I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

@mbosnz

I hope that those saying that she has zero tact, diplomacy or eloquence will never vote again for the utter fucking twonk that is our current PM and governing party.

But of course, she's a 'person with a cervix/vagina, so she should 'be kind'. . .

Oh they will. The perpetual whine of "but Corbyn..." will change to "but Rayner..." and they'll use that to justify voting for this government again.
donquixotedelamancha · 26/09/2021 20:05

The perpetual whine of "but Corbyn..." will change to "but Rayner..." and they'll use that to justify voting for this government again.

That's Labour's problem in a nutshell:

People don't need an excuse to vote they way they want. It's not voters job to overlook Rayner it the Labour party's job to pick a credible shadow cabinet.

donquixotedelamancha · 26/09/2021 20:07

But of course, she's a 'person with a cervix/vagina, so she should 'be kind'.

Rayner doesn't think having a cervix is anything to do with being a woman- she's been merciless with Rosie Duffield for saying it does.

SensiMuck · 26/09/2021 20:08

I’m still totally baffled about how she ever came to hold the position of shadow education secretary
Yes, she doesn't come across as particularly ahem... educated. I don't want an unhinged, foul mouthed, aggressive loose cannon to decide on policies concerning my children.

Her kind of attitude is not what we need, we need a cool, level headed, ultra smart and likeable leader who is au fait with where we are at this point in time and where will are headed, who's able to deal with the horrible local and global challenges we are facing.

I have very little respect for anyone who is so full of themselves, so self righteous but doesn't get it. Oh yes, this type climbs to the top via a mix of bullying and grandstanding and being so charming to the right people at the right time. But they are a one trick pony, climb high, and then what? They don't get the job done. It so much worse being this type of personality leading a party that is supposed to be 'good'.

MyPatronusIsACat · 26/09/2021 20:10

YABVU. If a TORY MP had said the same, the people saying she was right in what she said, would have been up in arms, and demanding her resignation.

She's an idiot, and Keir Starmer is NOT happy with her (Just saw him on the news talking about her.)

She won't be in her job for much longer now.

100% this. ^
TheHouseILiveIn · 26/09/2021 20:13

I liked her article in the Times
I didn't realise she was thrown out of home at 16. I think she's amazing

The bar in the Labour Party is so low, it makes you wonder how they manage to attract such dimwits. Tories have had two female leaders, both from working class backgrounds, Thatcher more so than May. Whatever you think about them both, they had balls of steel. Articulate, rational, women that people cared to listen to, even if they vehemently disagreed.
Labour gives us someone who thinks she is on Jeremy Kyle everytime she opens her mouth. It’s embarrassing. Even more embarrassing when you think about how she lowers the bar for all women in high profile positions.

I didn’t vote for him in the first place

Its very tiresome the constant comments (from tory and labour) along the lines of ‘if you criticise boris you must be a Corbynite’ or ‘if you criticise raynor you must have voted tory’

The problem is that far left imbeciles won’t allow him to get rid of her. They are like kamikazes. So she will continue to make Labour more and unelectable. If it was her Tory equivalent, the party would have got rid of her, yesterday. But the leftie extremists in labour are destroying their party through the cult of personality. A gift to Tory HQ.
TheHouseILiveIn · 26/09/2021 20:18

Where was this outrage when Bozo called Labour 'supine protoplasmic invertebrate jellies'? Or is he allowed to throw insults because he's posh and uses long sentences? Did the people turning their nose up at Angela's 'scum' comment clutch their pearls at this? Of course you didn't.

MyPatronusIsACat · 26/09/2021 20:19

@Badbadbunny

And that's why the Labour party continue to be unelectable. They come across as a party of hate & envy which are very unattractive traits to the majority of the electorate.
They come across as a party of hate & envy.

Yep this. ^ (a bit like some of their current/newer supporters... )

Also, no matter WHAT the Conservatives do, or DON'T do, it's wrong (in the eyes of Labour supporters,) and the Labour party slag it off. It's pathetic. As if LABOUR could have managed this past 3 or 4 years any better. Wink

MyPatronusIsACat · 26/09/2021 20:20

@sst1234 LOL, you're so right! Sadly!

Viviennemary · 26/09/2021 20:20

She is a nasty piece of work with a massive chip on her shoulder and hatred.

CityMumma78 · 26/09/2021 20:22

She is vile! I mean can you imagine her representing the UK in a global stage!?!? Of course not, she is an uneducated, uncouth, loudmouth.

Nice. Jeremy Kyle because she was a single mum at 16? You sound lovely
Nat3kids · 26/09/2021 20:26

I think she is absolutely right but, and I say this as a lifelong labour voter, I wish we were hearing more from labour about how they plan to tackle social injustice, climate change, etc. I feel like they are not sending a clear message and it shows in their election results.

sst1234 · 26/09/2021 20:28

@TheHouseILiveIn

Thought you might try that. Apologists usually do. But since you ask, Jeremy Kyle, because she needs retraining from being a ranting, aggressive, nasty person. And also, since you bring up the teenage mother thing, let’s tackle it. It’s not really a badge of honour, like she wears it. It’s insulting to working class northerners that this is held up as a quality and that all northerners all are considered to have affinity to teenage motherhood and a loud mouth.

Jellykat · 26/09/2021 20:28

I too think shes right, and its refreshing to see a passionate mp who tells it like it is, instead of all the wishy washy bullshit that gets delivered these days.

OppsUpsSide · 26/09/2021 20:31

Jeremy Kyle because she was a single mum at 16?

That’s a bit of a jump from what PP actually wrote.

AlfonsoTheMango · 26/09/2021 20:32

@Pixxie7

I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.
What point is that? That she doesn't have any self-control and is an arrogant windbag? If that's her point then, yes, I agree that she made her point very well.
knittingaddict · 26/09/2021 20:32

@x2boys

Mumsnet can be so out of touch sometimes at times its laughable Shes ridiculous and she is one of the reasons why Labour cant get into power.
This.
AlfonsoTheMango · 26/09/2021 20:32

Indeed.

@ginandbearit

I want to see anger and fury and passion from Labour and I want to see the tories shamed and challenged at all times..there's been too much 'professionlism' and corporate speak from Starmer and his team ..Rayner may not be everyones cup of tea ..who is ? ..but she has the potential to be a Barbara Castle of the future and really shake things up ...I laughed when I heard her say she wore the trousers in her marriage, now moved on .. Im not a natural Labour voter but if she got the job I'd back her .
I don’t want anger and fury. I want clear communication of what labour stand for, what they value in this country and what they’re going to do to make it better. I want hope.

When Jo Cox died and I watched her more in common speech and I read about how good she was at working cross party to get things done I thought that’s what I want from the people I elect.
