I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

I didn’t say they weren’t scum @WrongKindOfFace but that was the word that’s been so controversial. Nobody can argue with the rest.

SickAndTiredAgain · 26/09/2021 18:18

I wouldn’t want her as leader of the Labour Party, but she’s not wrong.

AlexaShutUp · 26/09/2021 18:18

Well, I do agree with her but I don't think she should have said what she said. It reflects badly on her, whatever we might think of Boris.

mbosnz · 26/09/2021 18:18

@SensiMuck

She seems unhinged. Scary woman, power hungry, I know the type, if I'd meet her in a professional or personal context, I'd run, run, run.

As a passionate remainer and supporter of social democratic values, I am gobsmacked to see what utterly weird leaders the Labour attracts, Keir Starmer aside but he just seems to meek.

But that Angela Raynor, I must say, my stomach churns when I imagine her running the country, absolutely scary thought.

That's exactly how I feel every morning when I wake up to this bunch of incompetent pillocks, pretending to run the country. Oh, no, they are running the country. Into the ground. . .
LakieLady · 26/09/2021 18:20

@WindBlowAutumnDays

I like neither Boris not Angela, both greedy, liars, selfish, bad parents and spouces.
In what way is she a bad parent?
Hoppinggreen · 26/09/2021 18:21

I don’t think she said anything that’s incorrect but I don’t think it’s really encouraging people to vote Labour, which is surely the end goal.
I also think “scum” was a bit strong, even though I’m no fan of Johnson.

NauticalDisaster · 26/09/2021 18:21

She makes Labour as unelectable as ever.

x2boys · 26/09/2021 18:22

Whatever your personal feelings, as the deputy leader of the opposition, you just cant say stuff like that, when yu have to resortto personal insults, you lose all credibility, not that she had much anyway

FleetwoodRaincoat · 26/09/2021 18:22

I agree with her, but it's not a very professional response. Can't imagine Jeremy Corbyn ever saying anything like that. I miss him.

SensiMuck · 26/09/2021 18:22

They are trying to make Labour attractive to young voters, who'll fall for anything shouting abuse at the Tories, who, let's face it, are responsible for the lack of opportunities our young generation faces. She seems like such as loose canon, power crazy personality, unhinged. Boris is a disgrace of the highest order too, as was Cameron the game playing slime ball. Theresa May was the only grown up among recent party leaders. Just odd, odd people. I do like the Lib Dem deputy leader.

WormYourHonour · 26/09/2021 18:23

I agree with Angela, disagree with Kier about his cervix comments.

As bad as Tories are, and they really really are, labour aren't giving a viable alternative at the moment.

Newnewnew1179 · 26/09/2021 18:24

I have not and would never vote for Boris but I’m not a fan of calling anyone scum, it feels like student politics to me - I would have used those words in my twenties about the tories - but I don’t think it’s good at all. It’s juvenile, aggressive, tribal and it alienates people. I prefer the Michelle Obama - we go high- approach.

Pixxie7 · 26/09/2021 18:25

She has said she will apologise when Boris does about all his past comments.

OP posts:
Willowowisp · 26/09/2021 18:27

I vote labour but this really put me off. I hate the dehumanisation of people with different views. Given she's believes TWAW then I would say it's the pot calling the kettle black on misogyny. I would also be careful on the Eton point. Lots of the labour party are also privately educated. I remember the Crewe and Nateich embarrassment when Harriet Harman ( who has aristocratic relatives and went to st Paul's) was asked about the whole toffs thing. No I think Angela has gone too far.

Willowowisp · 26/09/2021 18:27

Nantwich

SensiMuck · 26/09/2021 18:27

Out of the frying pan into the fire comes to mind wrt Angela Rayner.

donquixotedelamancha · 26/09/2021 18:30

If that happens they will quickly become a fringe party.

Oh yeah, that would be terrible. Thank god their a ruthlessly efficient government in waiting under Starmer.

donquixotedelamancha · 26/09/2021 18:30

*they're

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 26/09/2021 18:30

I agree with her. But I don’t admire the way she expressed herself (nothing at all to do with her being a woman).

There Is a certain way that people at the top of their professional game, people who want to lead, should speak. This wasn’t it. She doesn’t have anything to apologise for. But neither did she do herself or, more importantly, the Labour Party, any credit.

thatsnotmyzoo · 26/09/2021 18:32

She’s not wrong but I wouldn’t vote for her or labour again.

SpindleWorld · 26/09/2021 18:34

@Kleptaklunky

I think she's absolutely vile, an uncouth loudmouth
To be fair, that's how I feel about Boris Johnson.
Kleptaklunky · 26/09/2021 18:34

The fact that she's a woman is irrelevant. She IS uncouth.

LittlePearl · 26/09/2021 18:35

@Newnewnew1179

Absolutely this.

It might be ok to speak like that at the pub but it's no good if she wants to be regarded as a serious politician with the potential to be on the world stage. Can you imagine Angela Merkel speaking like that?

Evesgarden · 26/09/2021 18:35

I'm in favour of free speech so she can't say what she likes - but I dont want some one like her running the Labour party. Throwing insults and name calling is showing her lack of intelligence, language skills and class. She is now excusing what she said by saying this is how working class people speak.. And the 'she will only apologise when Boris does' reminds me of when one of my kids do something to the other and then drags up shit from the past the other kid did to try and even it out. I would rather she just owned what she said. And she seems like that person you avoid when they have a drink because you dont know what temperament they are going to be in.

I am working class but she doesn't represent me. I'm sick of labour not having their shit enough together to form any kind of opposition. They are all a joke. The tories are the tories - they have never changed but labour have really let us down. I wish they would all just be sacked and start a fresh

beigebrownblue · 26/09/2021 18:37

out of all the posters on this thread, who voted for Boris?

It's your fault we ended up in this mess, I'm guessing it is seventy five per cent of the so called 'caring' parents on here.

Be ashamed.
