My life rules

Things life has taught me

  1. Never never never eat white bread, or feed it to children, it just changes to sugar in your body, it is poison!
  1. Never never never support slave based industry, eg cannabis, clothing made with child labour, UNNESSESARY TECH UPGRADES, like replacing perfectly good working phones for no reason
  1. I'm sure I will think of more. Not much point in going into the environmental ones, like limit meat and diary, and never eat fish, don't drink bottled water etc, much debated elsewhere on Mumsnet

What are yours?

Some people (like me) have medical conditions which make brown bread much less healthy than white bread. A high-fibre diet is good for most people, but not everyone.

In any case, a good rule might be to be less judgemental about what other people eat!

Proudboomer · 12/08/2021 11:03

Little known fact but the mafia control the Italian tomato industry using slave Labour and make billons and also cleans their dirty money.

Look in your cupboards and those Italian tinned tomatoes, Passata and purée came to you via mafia.

All carbohydrates change to sugar in your body. Your body can’t actually magically divine the difference between bread / sugar / pasta / sweet potatoes etc. All are fine in moderation.

UnsuitableHat · 12/08/2021 11:05
  1. If you’re going to write out a list of something for people to read, think it through first to avoid drying up at point 3.
Tuscancat · 12/08/2021 11:05

Avoid processed food if you can afford to, not good for you or the ecosystem

Tuscancat · 12/08/2021 11:06

@QueenPeary discusting!

vampirethriller · 12/08/2021 11:07

Do not eat the yellow snow (for that is where the doggies go)

Never yet let me down.

Being anti plastic is causing chaos for the environment. Metal production is far more damaging to the environment than lovely versatile oil based resistant materials ever were. There's no consistency. People are happy to upgrade household objects, buy cars, use petrol, have resin drives. Theres more plastic in one resin drive than in millions of straws. Having your render done is also a plastic. Oil based resistant materials are a byproduct of the petrol industry but is poor old plastic that gets the blame while everyone still happy to drive.

1- Never start a thread with controversial views if you can't be arsed to come back and defend yourself!

tiredofthisshit21 · 12/08/2021 11:15

It doesn't matter what the question is, wine is always the answer Grin

Topia · 12/08/2021 11:15

Don't get overly emotionally invested in other people's business. It's their business, not yours, they won't thank you for it.

On the same note - don't get overly invested with work colleagues, or for that matter, work politics. It's a slippery slope.

Some men throw temper tantrums when denied sex. It's very annoying, but do your best to ignore it and the behaviour is theirs to own.

Do things that make you happy, not things that are uncomfortable, treacherous or downright unpleasant.

Some promotions are poisoned chalices. They won't make you happier (see statement above.)

Od130990 · 12/08/2021 11:15

#1 life is for living.

#2 no one is getting out alive so do whatever makes you happy.

#3 blowing out someone else's candle won't make yours shine any brighter.

#4 the only person you're in competition with is yourself... so be better then you were yesterday.

#5 keep looking forwards not backwards you're not going that way.

Homebird8 · 12/08/2021 11:18

Bread to share is better than bread to spare.

Sitting reading this eating Warburtons toastie bread with jam. Delicious.
Oh my god, do you want to die of bread poisoning?
iwannabelikeyouhoohoo · 12/08/2021 11:26
  1. Don’t eat actual poison
  2. MAKE SURE TO POST IN CAPITALS TO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS
  3. Try to think of as many rules as you have numbers
Happymum12345 · 12/08/2021 11:27

I think being kind does cover everything.
Eat what you want as long as you really enjoy it.
