My life rules

54321nought · 12/08/2021 09:14

Things life has taught me

  1. Never never never eat white bread, or feed it to children, it just changes to sugar in your body, it is poison!
  1. Never never never support slave based industry, eg cannabis, clothing made with child labour, UNNESSESARY TECH UPGRADES, like replacing perfectly good working phones for no reason
  1. I'm sure I will think of more. Not much point in going into the environmental ones, like limit meat and diary, and never eat fish, don't drink bottled water etc, much debated elsewhere on Mumsnet

What are yours?

I love white bread with a big slathering of butter. Would be my death row meal.

sixthtimelucky · 13/08/2021 06:35

I see I am 10 millionth in a line of 'love white bread slathered in butter'. Must RTFT.

My rules are live and let live; be VERY sure of a strong, oft-repeated opinion/assertion or you will make a tit of yourself; don't make post-pub cheese toasties in the dark while topless unless you are partial to a burnt nip

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 13/08/2021 07:04

your husband is a blind fool, putting himself and his family in critical danger

The clue is in @BritWifeInUSA's user name. Cannabis is now legally farmed in several US states. That said, her comment was a daft one, as she is surely aware that this is not the case here. Maybe she is smoking too much oh her DH's output? 😉

BlueLobelia · 13/08/2021 07:17

@StrangeLookingParasite

White bread is a very significant part of the diet that causes obesity/diabetes/heart disease etc

Maybe.

Did you go to the University of Gross Generalisations, though?

BlueLobelia · 13/08/2021 07:20

anyway, I now have another life rule to add to my ironing one (and I am SO stealing the 'never invade Russia in winter' one).

Context to my life rule- yesterday i took the DCs to an amusement park. A little boy of about 7 was jumping up and down with excitement. His grandmother (I assume) leaned down and said to him 'Don't be too excited. You will only end up disappointed the next time we come'.

New life rule. 'Never piss on anyone's chips'.

MoonlightWanderer · 13/08/2021 07:20

Ok, so we need to legalize cannabis and ban white bread and all will be well?

FlipFlops4Me · 13/08/2021 07:22

You do know that all carbohydrates turn to sugar in the body? Everything with any bread, pastry, pasta, potato - all carbs. I know this because as a type 1 diabetic I have to inject insulin to compensate for the carbs I eat because of the simple fact they all turn to sugar, and a diabetic's body can't process sugar.....

I don't think you're interested in reading anyone else's life rules OP. I think you just want to preach your own life rules at everyone.

I think you are right. Some sort of anti white bread crusade. Confused

Which brand of bread did Jesus actually use then? Jackson's White is heavenly TBF. Or did he like a tiger bloomer?

no, legalising cannabis would make the UK slavery situation a lot worse

I look after a diabetic dc and she receives the same insulin for a slice of white bread as she does for brown (12g carbs usually but varies slightly due to the size of the slice - not the colour of the bread)

Chunkymenrock · 13/08/2021 08:02
  1. You don't know until you give it a go.
  2. Most things are over rated.
  3. It could always be worse.
  4. Life's shit and then you die, so you might as well enjoy your food.

Things I have learnt from this thread:

1.) OP doesn’t know what lighthearted means.

2.) OP is no dietician.

3.) OP seems to believe 50,000 death certificates read as such each year: Cause of death: 1A Mighty White.

SoupDragon · 13/08/2021 08:19

30 to 50 thousand diet related deaths in England per year........

How many specifically white bread related deaths are there?

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 13/08/2021 08:35
  1. Don’t drink the bath water
  2. Seriously, don’t drink the bath water
  3. For the love of god, stop drinking the bloody bath water!
BeckyWithTheGoodHair5629456 · 13/08/2021 08:38

Well I suppose it is a potential choke hazard. More delicious so try to eat faster than brown!
chalamet · 13/08/2021 08:43

Of course child slavery is used in growing weed in the U.K. it’s also grown in the attic of very small time dealers or by people who grow for personal use - both are true. It’s basically denial or ignorance to think that it’s all grown by dealers who just sit there and watch it grow.

However, I’ve never seen anyone care so much about white bread. I’m coeliac so all the bread I can eat is disgusting anyway.
