Dog in Hairdressers

glowyjuice · 05/08/2021 21:42

At the hairdressers I go to the owner's dog is always there, when I go normally it's asleep but on one or two occasions my hairdresser has had to step around the dog and get it to move as it was lying right next to us. I know I don't have to go there to get my hair done but apart from the dog I have no problems with the place and the service. For context the dog belongs to the owner of the salon who lives upstairs. Would you be happy with this?

I stopped going to a hairdressers for my kids because the owners dog would come and sniff my crotch. Hated it, totally unnecessary IMO but you will get shot down by the dog loons and it won't be long before someone is telling you YOU'RE the one entering the dog's home/workplace 😂

NameChangedForAChange · 05/08/2021 21:44

That sounds fine. What’s your issue with the dog being there?

Lockheart · 05/08/2021 21:44

If I'd be happy with it or not makes no difference to how you feel.

If you don't like it, find a new hairdresser.

MichelleScarn · 05/08/2021 21:46

I would love to have a dog entertain me while waiting for my hair dye to set!!

AutumnColours9 · 05/08/2021 21:46

I wouldn't mind at all

Lazypuppy · 05/08/2021 21:46

Yep, main reason i go to my hairdresser is her dog!

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/08/2021 21:46

Thought you were going to say, the dog was there for a short back and sides Smile

MidnightHangingTree · 05/08/2021 21:47

I would love a dog at the hairdressers. Dogs make every place better IMO.

MauveMagnolia · 05/08/2021 21:48

My hairdressers lets clients bring their dogs in -don't most?

Aprilx · 05/08/2021 21:49

I’d be indifferent.

No! Of course not.
glowyjuice · 05/08/2021 21:50

Yeah I know It's not a big deal but I've got a fear of dogs, I was bit by a family dog when I was very young not badly or anything but ever since then I get a bit tense around dogs, worried that I'm going to accidently step on it's tail and it's going to attack me but I know it's my responsibility to overcome this and not be fearful of them.

I'd love it..

JayAlfredPrufrock · 05/08/2021 21:52

I’m always a bit disappointed that my hairdresser’s dog isn’t a cuddle monster and doesn’t want to sit on my knee.

Downsize2021 · 05/08/2021 21:52

My ex went to my current hairdressers first and he told me about their puppy they had there. I've been going for five years since. But I love well trained and socialised dogs. The dog is rarely there these days but we always have a good dog chat and they don't judge me when I arrive with leaves in my hair from the morning dog walk

ThatsNotMyReindeer · 05/08/2021 21:52

I would go because of the dog to be honest

GCAcademic · 05/08/2021 21:53

I would be delighted.

MauveMagnolia · 05/08/2021 21:53

No! Of course not.

Are you sure, it is a big international chain and thinking about it most of the salons in the city let dogs in.

SW1amp · 05/08/2021 21:53

A dog used to the noise and activity of a salon is going to be pretty calm and relaxed, so probably the ideal dog to help you get over your phobia?

I wouldn’t mind a dog in a salon. Several near me have them, and the place I go to let’s you bring dogs in with you, so there is the occasional dog sitting on a clients lap

Salons are being constantly swept up so a bit of dog hair isn’t going to matter

autumnboys · 05/08/2021 21:53

I am more of a cat person but my hairdresser has a dog and I quite like him sitting on my lap while I have my hair washed/cut/dried. He always asks with a paw, it’s sweet.

However in your situation, I think it’s fine to ask if the dog could be moved away from your chair because dogs make you feel (understandably) anxious.

Just10moreminutesplease · 05/08/2021 21:54

I love my hairdresser’s dog, it’s the main reason I go there. But if I was scared I would go elsewhere.

Sexnotgender · 05/08/2021 21:55

I’d be delighted to have a dog to entertain me through the bloody hours of tedium involved in a visit to the hairdressers.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 05/08/2021 21:57

No. I'm allergic to dogs, they set me off sneezing and rubbing my eyes which would make cutting my hair difficult.
I'd change hairdresser.
Up to you if it's an issue for you personally.
