Dog in Hairdressers

At the hairdressers I go to the owner's dog is always there, when I go normally it's asleep but on one or two occasions my hairdresser has had to step around the dog and get it to move as it was lying right next to us. I know I don't have to go there to get my hair done but apart from the dog I have no problems with the place and the service. For context the dog belongs to the owner of the salon who lives upstairs. Would you be happy with this?

No YANBU. . When I go to the hairdresser I don’t want anyone else’s pet there.

It wouldn't personally bother me, I know a few hairdressers that take their dogs to work.

Although if you have a fear of dogs, why would you continue to go to that hairdressers as you've said it's been there a few times so you must have known about it

I’m always a bit disappointed that my hairdresser’s dog isn’t a cuddle monster and doesn’t want to sit on my knee.

I continue to go there as I'm trying to overcome my fear and have been going there for years and like my hairdresser and how she does my hair.

It would be a bonus for me to have a dog there.

I would be fine with it but I think it is a bit unfair for people to assume that everyone would be comfortable with it. And it isn't something you're going to necessarily feel comfortable saying to your hairdresser, especially as some dog people get really weird if you say you don't like dogs.

I wouldn’t be that impressed. I don’t think it adds to a relaxing environment for me personally so would go elsewhere.

I’d hate it and I’ve moved hairdressers for that reason in the past. I wasn’t comfortable with the dog sniffing around me when I was basically immobile with foils in or having my fringe cut.

No I would find a different hairdresser. But I suppose she is doing nothing illegal.

I’d be delighted to have a dog to entertain me through the bloody hours of tedium involved in a visit to the hairdressers.

My hairdressers dog sits on my lap while I get my hair cut. It's lovely. Look into some counselling for your fear. But you also don't have to use that hairdresser if it makes you uncomfortable. You could try talking to her and asking if she could not have the dog in the salon when you visit.

Not for me. Uncomfortable with dogs - not helped by the fact a friend was turned on by her dog of 11 years. Had Puncture wounds and the poor dog had to be put down.

It wouldn't bother me now as long as it was well behaved.
Back when I had a fear of dogs it would have bothered me enough to find a new hairdresser unless they were willing to have the salon dog free when I was in or I could book in at a dog free time.

Yük, I don't get why dogs are allowed everywhere these days. Another reason to keep cutting my own hair.

Ooh I'd love it if there was a puppy in my salon! But not for everyone, I do get it.
