To ask if your DH/DP would do a booze run?

If you were getting pleasantly pissed in the garden with your friend but ran out of booze, would your DH/DP nip to the corner shop for more wine and some snacks for you?

They aren’t part of the socialising as such - perfectly welcome to join in but see it as you socialising with a friend.

YABU - he wouldn’t go
YANBU - he would go

Of course! Unless he was bitter i had friends and was feeling left out. But he's not 5 so I doubt that would happen.

sunshineandshowers40 · 27/07/2021 21:13

Hell Yes! Of course! I would do the same for him!

TheDevils · 27/07/2021 21:13

Yes. 100%.

LubaLuca · 27/07/2021 21:13

Yeah, he'd go. He encourages debauchery.

Horehound · 27/07/2021 21:14

Yes he definitely would.

Laaaaa · 27/07/2021 21:14

No he is a miserable arsehole

SameToo · 27/07/2021 21:14

Yes 100% He’d probs go without me asking.

DragonMamma · 27/07/2021 21:15

He absolutely would!

lastqueenofscotland · 27/07/2021 21:15

Yep definitely

Hankunamatata · 27/07/2021 21:15

Depends what mood he is in

heidihigh · 27/07/2021 21:15

Yeah I reckon mine would !

Munchyseeds · 27/07/2021 21:15

Yes he would, without a moan

dudsville · 27/07/2021 21:17

C) I wouldn't ask. He might, he's a nice guy, but I'd enjoy the stroll with my friend and not interrupt his evening.

InFiveMins · 27/07/2021 21:17

YANBU - DP would always do this for me.

MattyGroves · 27/07/2021 21:17

He would if I asked him but it would feel lazy, I would just go myself

Merryoldgoat · 27/07/2021 21:18

Lovely answers so far.

To explain.

This was going on in my garden last week and after the second bottle we realised we did in fact need a third.

I asked DH and he went willingly, returning with bottles 3 & 4 (and made us chips).

I have relayed this and have had the most bizarre responses from colleagues

He’s under the thumb
He let you drink that much?
No way could I get away with that

It was such a non event - I only told because we were talking about hangovers and given I’d had 2 bottles of Prosecco to myself I’d had one that weekend that required significant care.

I just thought it was a nice thing.

Of course he would

Shoxfordian · 27/07/2021 21:19

I’m glad your partner went for you @Merryoldgoat, thought the op might have been the other way round

Merryoldgoat · 27/07/2021 21:21

@Shoxfordian

He’s very easygoing and I’d have done the same for him no question.

He was kind… but actually two bottles each is not funny. I have changed my answer as I’d be concerned about that level of drinking.

girlmama32 · 27/07/2021 21:22

Yep definitely.

Oysterbabe · 27/07/2021 21:22

Yes he would, as would any decent partner.

OoofBaBoof · 27/07/2021 21:22

A couple of weekends ago, I had a few friends over in the garden and DH opened the fridge to see that we were running low and went straight to the shop and got us some more before we even realised we needed it!

I'd absolutely do the same for him too.

MattyGroves · 27/07/2021 21:23

Agree and I drink a fair amount, not by any means a puritan about alcohol but 2 bottles is lot.
Merryoldgoat · 27/07/2021 21:23

@cunningartificer

I drink about twice a month and have two bottles to myself once in a blue moon.

I can assure you it was hilarious.

Plus the chips cancelled a bottle out.
