AIBU?

To ask if your DH/DP would do a booze run?

Merryoldgoat · 27/07/2021 21:09

If you were getting pleasantly pissed in the garden with your friend but ran out of booze, would your DH/DP nip to the corner shop for more wine and some snacks for you?

They aren’t part of the socialising as such - perfectly welcome to join in but see it as you socialising with a friend.

YABU - he wouldn’t go
YANBU - he would go

I’m also over 20 years his junior and I don’t care. He’s lovely 😊

@Merryoldgoat Not seen your other thread but I'm sure Julien would mosey on round to the shop for some essentials 😊 I have to say I'm 20 years younger than my on screen husband but there's just something about him...

My husband wouldn't bat an eyelid. He'd also get the snacks and take my friends home.

He does nice things for me, and me for him. He probably does more for me though as he's nicer than me 😂

I don’t think it matters as long as it works for your family.

DH and I both feel like we get a good deal and have different strengths.

He does nearly all the cooking and I do nearly all the laundry.

I do childminder drop, he does school drop.

I do money, he does the garden.

It works for us and we do the stuff we prefer without taking advantage of the other.

Most definitely and often does, even if I'm just being a fussy so and so and want something different to what we already have in Grin

Us too. The laundry thing gets so weird on here.

"But why run so many half loads?" We don't, we just wait for a full load because we own enough clothing

"Such a faff to separate the washing" you actually separate a lot less if you have your own baskets and deal with your own

I swear some posters actually think there is less laundry if you share it.

Exactly!!
I don't know why it's so hard to understand!!

@TheDevils

They are ridiculous 🙄 It's like the separate washing thing. Couples are suppose to be partners doing stuff together and for each other, not separe entities essentially just house sharing with sex on top.

Why are some people on mn so concerned about how couples organise their laundry. It's bizarre.
Me and DH have a very loving and caring relationship. We regularly do nice things for each other and wouldn't think twice about popping to the shop for each other, getting each other snacks, drinks, cooking for each other, giving each other lifts etc but we each do our own laundry and always have. It's just how we do it and it works for us 🤷🏼‍♀️

I find it ridiculous that some people can't understand that people might do things differently.

@GreenestValley I barely drink. Can go years without it and I never drink at home. I had a glass of wine about 16 months ago and that was my last drink

On a night out I could do three bottles of wine and a few shots and be drunk but I've never vomited or passed out from alcohol. Even when I decided stupidly to do 18 shots in revolution and then carry on drinking Blush
I do seem to have always had a really high alcohol tolerance but I'm 5ft 10 and fat a size 16

I know what you mean about Prosecco! My friend and I drank loads on a weekend away with very limited drunkenness/ill effects. Weird.

My DH absolutely would. Would offer to go collect a takeaway too.
But I would do the same for him.
It's not under the thumb to be nice to the person you share your life with 🙄

It's normal. He'd go and bring back snacks/cake/ice cream. He'd be happy to keep an eye on us and make sure we didn't run out and need to be asked. His role in life is to spoil me now the girls aren't here to be spoilt.

@FizzyPink

Some people can be quite strange over couples doing kind things for one another. Almost as if you can’t be a strong independent female if your other half does favours for you Confused

My DP finishes work very late every night. Because of this, I make both of us dinner and then he heats his up when he gets home. I’ve had friends before be shocked that I don’t just look after myself and leave him to make his own dinner at 9 or 10pm!

There is something about Prosecco that allows you to drink gallons of it without getting absolutely shit faced. It could be the high sugar content or perhaps there is just less of it in the bottle because the bubbles take up room? Champagne does not have the same effect and I've been violently ill after overdosing on that.

Were you on my other thread since you seem to have stolen my husband?!

If you were my neighbour I would absolutely understand those are entirely necessary for isolation.

Oh God, I've just had to start an online delivery as we're currently isolating and I'm panicking we might run out of booze over the weekend! 😨

The neighbours are being great and calling at the supermarket for us for essentials but how can I tell them that 2 bottles of wine, 2 bottles of prosecco, beer and gin are essentials? 🤔

Thank you @LittleGwyneth

I ignore the booze police because I know I don’t have disordered drinking.

My DH is very nice - he’s genuinely one of the good ones. I don’t think he’s raised his voice in 16 years.

and so do I...

On threads where people cannot imagine living with someone and I state that living with my Dh makes OUR life easier, it's true.
