To ask if your DH/DP would do a booze run?

If you were getting pleasantly pissed in the garden with your friend but ran out of booze, would your DH/DP nip to the corner shop for more wine and some snacks for you?

They aren’t part of the socialising as such - perfectly welcome to join in but see it as you socialising with a friend.

YABU - he wouldn’t go
YANBU - he would go

Yes 100%

Chihuahuacat · 27/07/2021 22:42

I think he sounds lovely. And 2 bottles is definitely a lot, but as a one off, over a few hours catching up with a friend absolutely fine!

omgthepain · 27/07/2021 22:43

Mine would make sure we had plenty in anyway 🤣
We NEVER run out

JustLyra · 27/07/2021 22:50

We rarely run out of booze, but he'd have gone.

Last time I had a girly night with two friends he did a food run for us even though we weren't in our house. Lovely MIL (who lives with us) minded the kids while he went. Friend's house is just a couple of minutes away.
Then in the morning he brought round bacon rolls before taking the kids out for the day as he'd guessed we'd be hungover.

Moonlight1972 · 27/07/2021 22:50

Yep he would

namcybotwinbloom · 27/07/2021 22:51

@Merryoldgoat

It’s odd - I love my DH having fun and vice versa.

He said the next day how nice it was hearing us laughing.

He doesn’t go out much but when he does I love it - he comes back all energised and happy - laughing with friends is good for the soul.

Laughing is. There is are some people I see and just come away feeling energised from seeing them.

Their outlook on life. Their whole personality. Just makes me feel good.

AfterSchoolWorry · 27/07/2021 22:52

No. Not in a million years.

TheDogsMother · 27/07/2021 22:52

Yes 100% and would probably bring far to many other treats too.

shouldistop · 27/07/2021 22:53

Yes. In fact he has done before. Drove several miles with the kids in the car to bring me booze.

Emmelina · 27/07/2021 22:55

I don’t think I’d need to ask, he’s good at monitoring the situation and would probably just go if it looked like we were running down :)

wheresmymojo · 27/07/2021 23:07

Yes...he did an M&S custard choux bun run earlier!

billy1966 · 27/07/2021 23:11

In a heartbeat he would, but the truth is I'd NEVER run out of wine!

Gilly12345 · 27/07/2021 23:21

No I wouldn’t want him to, if we ran out of drink then that would be ok, I can’t stand being drunk now I am older, it’s not worth it the next day or going to bed drunk and having a bowl by the bedside. 🤢🤢🤢

Wineat5isfine · 27/07/2021 23:22

Oh good lord….judgy judgersons are out in force!

Yes, my DH would definitely do a Prosecco run if I was running low…and he wouldn’t judge me.

He would probably also buy doritos / dips or order a Chinese for us. #keeper

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 27/07/2021 23:31

yes, absolutely.

he always does a jaffa cake run for me when I'm nor prepared and my period sneaks up on me.
one time I needed my sugar hit but couldn't decide what I wanted so I asked him to get kitkats or jaffa cakes or ferrero rocher or battenberg cake for me, any of those would've done it.
he bought me all 4.

best husband ever

crabbingbucket · 28/07/2021 08:44

I would never have asked mine and gone myself but when he was divorcing me he said he hates the way I was so capable and never asked him to do things like that for me so I say crack on!

MrsKeats · 28/07/2021 09:19

Yes and would probably buy loads too much!

BadLad · 28/07/2021 09:59

Your like your husband and your mother-in-law? Both of them?

Justilou1 · 28/07/2021 10:04

Your DH is a keeper for sure. I would have married him again at the time just for making the chips (I love me some carbs when I’m a bit merry!)… Then the comment about how lovely it was to hear you laughing…. You don’t get much of that on the Mumsnet threads, do you? The people saying that he’s under the thumb are either jealous AF or don’t know what real love is - the kind that stands the rest of time… I’m very happy for you.

Wantingtogetitright · 28/07/2021 10:05

Absolutely!! I had to persuade my DH not to go back the shop for more crisps and dip for me recently. I’m sure there would be times he wouldn’t though.

hellcatspangle · 28/07/2021 10:14

Yes I expect so

SheABitSpicyToday · 28/07/2021 10:16

Yes he would of 100%. He phones me everyday on the way home from work to see if I need anything!

I’m the other way round to you OP. I can drink 3 bottles of red wine but one glass of Prosecco fucks me up!

IonaLeg · 28/07/2021 10:27

Yes, mind would

Fromablokespoint · 28/07/2021 11:33

Laughing at the judgmental posts! More than 2 bottles of wine in an evening!!

The real issue is that he allowed you to run out of wine and had to go out to get more - LTB!
