Someone has parked over my H bar and blocked my car in ...

Earlier this year, I had an H bar painted across my dropped kerb because people kept parking over the edge of the dropped bit, meaning I couldn't get in or out of my drive (the drive is narrow and at an angle on a very narrow street with cars parked opposite).

So far, it's pretty much done the trick. But today I went out for an hour and came back and someone has parked a good foot or so over the end of it, meaning that I can't get my car off the driveway. Unfortunately for them, I was not using the vehicle which was (and still is) parked on the drive, but another one. :)

So I've parked across the rest of my H bar. There's now enough room between my front bumper and their rear one to get a matchbox in. There's about a foot between them and the car parked in front of them.

Today is my last day at work for 2 weeks. Do you think I should have an early glass of wine to celebrate? Grin

If theres a foot between their car and the one in front, can you see if there's a group of rugby players milling around who can shunt it forward a bit? Then there will be no room for manouver Grin

@Sparklingbrook

The last parking thread where the rogue car was absolutely and completely blocked in by the OP and unable to move, the OP turned their back for a minute and missed them somehow getting out. Shock
I remember that!! That was the biggest letdown ever, such crushing disappointment on OP’s behalf...no, I don’t ever get over-invested... Wink

(Sorry btw if I came across combative on the other thread)

Excellent diagram, OP. Enjoy the wine Wine

@peridito

Watford - yeah I get that you don't want to be the bigger person .

If you've parked one of your cars in the road outside your house ,is it really a big inconvenience that you can't get the other one off the driveway right now ?

Personally I see greater merit in front gardens with plants than taking a car/s parking space off the road .But as you're thinking of others in this unselfish act of allowing more space to park cars on the road why not extend that to allowing this car to park ?

If you know that this person is going to park there again why not speak to them/leave a note explaining that you need the driveway to be kept clear at all times ?

No actually it isn't inconveniencing me but they don't know that.

I don't know whose car it is. If my neighbours park over my drive, they usually come and ask me.

I haven't paved over my front garden and the drive and dropped kerb were already here when we bought the house.

Really id just like people not to park like cunts. It's not hard.

Florelei · 23/07/2021 16:44

I like your diagram very much OP!

RogueMnerHidesUnderABigHat · 23/07/2021 16:44

Excellent diagram. ⭐

I wouldn't be able to get the wanker car out of there.

osprey24 · 23/07/2021 16:45

Have you taken a note of naughty parkers reg number OP, so if it damages your car trying to escape, you can claim on his/her insurance?

stellaisabella · 23/07/2021 16:46

Shamelessly placemarking for updates

Someone parking a foot over your dropped access is your definition of a cunt ?

We're obviously in different worlds . Fortunately .

NeedNewKnees · 23/07/2021 16:49

Poured that wine yet, @WatfordGap?

SachaStark · 23/07/2021 16:49

“Blameless cars” 😂

Crockof · 23/07/2021 16:49

Yes, because I can't get my car out.

What's your definition? I'm all ears

Poured that wine yet, *@WatfordGap*?
Yes I have! Just waiting for a piece of work to come back from someone so I can check it and circulate and then my out of office is going on.

I've drafted the email already to be on the safe side 👍

This strikes me as a bit of an overreaction given that you can actually drive your other car.

She can’t get out of her drive? What if op was an emergency worker and couldn’t get to work.

There’s a reason for road signs, a foot or not no one can park there. It is very simple.

Cookies47 · 23/07/2021 16:54

I'm very invested in this

Illogicalmadness · 23/07/2021 16:55

Don't you have a flight to catch somewhere for a fortnight OP? Wink

Battleofwhocouldcareless · 23/07/2021 16:55

Loving this thread, enjoy your wine OP

MaMelon · 23/07/2021 16:55

Yes - a parking thread, complete with (excellent) diagram, ‘you have such easy life compared to mine if this is all you have to worry about’ posts, vicarious but justifiable moral outrage and lots of shameless placemarking!! This is shaping up to be a bloody brilliant Friday night! Wine

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 23/07/2021 16:56

Someone parking a foot over your dropped access is your definition of a cunt ?

There are multiple definitions of that, parking over a dropped kerb is one.

Hope you had that wine OP.

SisterBeaverhausen · 23/07/2021 16:56

Can't wait to see how this turns out haha pregnant and poorly so need some entertainment Grin

Cluckycluck · 23/07/2021 16:56

@peridito
The driver of the parked car doesn't know that Watford has another car and isn't inconveniencing her. What if it was there was an emergency and the person blocked in desperately need to get out? What if they missed seeing a loved one before they died because they spent 40 minutes trying to find the inconsiderate prick who blocked them in?

These people are the same kind of wankers that end up blocking roads for emergency vehicles because they can't park considerately.

CarpeVitam · 23/07/2021 16:57

What cute wee cars OP 👏😀
