Someone has parked over my H bar and blocked my car in ...

Earlier this year, I had an H bar painted across my dropped kerb because people kept parking over the edge of the dropped bit, meaning I couldn't get in or out of my drive (the drive is narrow and at an angle on a very narrow street with cars parked opposite).

So far, it's pretty much done the trick. But today I went out for an hour and came back and someone has parked a good foot or so over the end of it, meaning that I can't get my car off the driveway. Unfortunately for them, I was not using the vehicle which was (and still is) parked on the drive, but another one. :)

So I've parked across the rest of my H bar. There's now enough room between my front bumper and their rear one to get a matchbox in. There's about a foot between them and the car parked in front of them.

Today is my last day at work for 2 weeks. Do you think I should have an early glass of wine to celebrate? Grin

@fussyhousewife yeah thanks I have applied to my council for the H. The fee was waived as DC has a blue badge too...bargain.

Hi Dithercats - you have a disabled child. You can apply to Council for wider access and yes you will probably get the parking lines. I came from Bromley and there were strict rules about parking on the marked spaces for disabled people. I hope Maidstone adopts the same rule.

@terhou @whynotwhatknot I would call the police but they're a large rowdy family so don't want to cause a feud. I live alone so if they turn nasty I'll be outnumbered. Easier to move.....

Definitely call the police if they routinely do it

Op i still would have left a note asking him not to block you in in future

@Annamaywong25

I comfort myself with these parking threads. My neighbours constantly block my car in, I'm glad it's not only me with this problem. I'm blocked in now, they have three cars and insist on parking right near their house no matter what. They have no drive. I have one bloody car! They know it drives me mad but don't care. I will be moving as soon as I am able due to this. After 11 years living here, they started to do this when my partner moved outand I bacame single. It's passive agressive bullying in my book. Angry

Call the police every time.

I've just come across this thread from the round-up email & the only comment I'd like to make is...

@peridito, if you're going to post, please sort out your 'gappy' punctuation, it's all kinds of wrong! :/

I hope you took a photo and reported the crap parker after your neighbour accidentally freed them?

[quote Dithercats]@WatfordGap how do you get the H bar done?
Constant problems here with neighbours parking over the dips in my dropped kurbs Hmm....causes me hassle getting my (unreasonably large) vehicle off my drive.
Though I drive it for a disabled child so it's large for a reason 🙄

You apply to the council. We had one done a few years back.

what unpleasant post @MaMelon ?

This one

"Just thought I'd pop back on to say that I didn't find @user1471447863's post pointless .

Especially as it resulted in the OP giving more detail .IME it's always helpful to have details if someone is asking whether they've been unreasonable .

And I'm sure my post is helpful as it will provide an opportunity for many to vent more ire. Which seems to be a high priority on this thread "

which came after your post where you felt the need to post to call someone's comments pointless and the poster a prick ?

user1471447863

"You’re not impressing anyone by your pointless questioning, nor are you achieving anything other than to make yourself look and sound like a prat. It’s over now and the parking issue has been resolved."

And I don't see the point in being unpleasant just for the sake of it

Ahhh, I see - you feel your earlier unpleasant post was justified and not simply for the sake of it.

Perhaps me and *@Sparklingbrook* are actually the same person! No, that can't be true because the minx was already down the pub while I was slaving over my laptop on Friday

I'm off there again shortly. Grin

You've rumbled me @Soubriquet. I am the 'H Bar troll'. Sad

Report
peridito · 25/07/2021 10:46

@MaMelon "Why not? " because I think you posing that question "Why do you feel the need to flatter yourself ? "is just an attempt to turn the light hearted and self deprecating remark I made into something unpleasant .An attempt to have a little dig ,be unpleasant ,create an argument .

And I don't see the point in being unpleasant just for the sake of it .

@Sparklingbrook

It has highlighted my laziness in searching for images on Google. I should have browsed the H bar pictures and chosen the fourth or fifth. Just to be sure. Grin

Does….does this mean your the troll?!
