Someone has parked over my H bar and blocked my car in ...

Earlier this year, I had an H bar painted across my dropped kerb because people kept parking over the edge of the dropped bit, meaning I couldn't get in or out of my drive (the drive is narrow and at an angle on a very narrow street with cars parked opposite).

So far, it's pretty much done the trick. But today I went out for an hour and came back and someone has parked a good foot or so over the end of it, meaning that I can't get my car off the driveway. Unfortunately for them, I was not using the vehicle which was (and still is) parked on the drive, but another one. :)

So I've parked across the rest of my H bar. There's now enough room between my front bumper and their rear one to get a matchbox in. There's about a foot between them and the car parked in front of them.

Today is my last day at work for 2 weeks. Do you think I should have an early glass of wine to celebrate? Grin

The bare-faced cheek of it! Posting a thread like this and not including a diagram!

Obviously in the minority here .Just ignore it .Better yet can you move your car a little so that it's easier for them to drive away .

You say that the marking has mainly done the trick so why go out of your way to make someone else's life difficult ?

I presume you've made a one off payment to have the kerb dropped and the marking carried out .I return part of the public highway becomes an area that you want to keep free just for you 100% of the time .Not a bad deal .

Be the bigger person and forget this minor infringement .
@MotionActivatedDog I can see that if it was a hugely complicated scenario then it would be very useful.
For this one I think we’re ok. Grin
@CiaoForNiao

When they knock and ask you to move your car tell them it's not yours. The one that is now completely blocked in is yours...

@CiaoForNiao

You are an evil genius Grin

I wish I hadn't suggested to DH we take a picnic up the hill after he finishes work. This would have been much better. OP, you have to keep us informed even if there's nothing happening.

Yes, have that drink. You won't be able to move your car - you might even have a sleep and not hear the front door.

@Sparklingbrook you mean you can't draw in beer on a table?
Your education has been sadly lacking I feel. Grin
Nice H bar though.

Here’s an h bar though.

I see it has delusions of grandeur, calling itself a H bar, clearly it is a capital I bar Grin

As it's HAPPENING RIGHT NOW why not raise the Mumsnet parking diagram bar with a PHOTOGRAPH? That would thrill me.

Stick notices demanding the car blocking you in be moved instantly on both the interloper's car, and your car blocking them. Proof it isn't your car!

I’m already invested. Looking forward to a diagram for extra clarity and to create the vision 😂

Anyone else think that MN should have a 'draw' function for these situations? Saves people getting out the pens and paper!

Not a great idea. Posting pics of your road on the internet. Bit outing.

The only issue is if your neighbour drives off.

Could you let their tyre down? You did say you don't like them, this two birds....

Your little cars look like they're all lying upside down so you can see their axles. V cute.

The only thing that would make this thread better is if the perpetrator started their own thread 'some twat has parked too close to me and blocked me in!'
