To be absolutely raging at this selfish garden CF'ery?!?!

So I live in a street where all the gardens face onto each other. Not a problem usually, most people very considerate.

Tonight one set of neighbours have set up an extension cable to move their TV out of the house onto the decking and are blasting (and i mean blasting!) an action movie out for everyone to hear. Think lots of machine gun fire and everything deafening everyone. No one can have their windows open and beyond that, can't enjoy their own garden because of the noise!!!

I'm staggered by this level of entitlement and given they recently had their garden redone, suspect this is not going to be the last time. AIBU to yell at them to take it indoors once it hits 10:30pm??

My neighbours in my last house did this!!! And refused to budge it. Was a nightmare when the football was on or like you say an action film. Went on all summer.

So fucking unbelievably inconsiderate.

If I had a good aim and was closer I'd honestly Have chucked a big fat stone at the fucking thing and I wouldn't have been sorry. Just sayin' Wink

Chloemol · 19/07/2021 21:51

I would yell at them now. Plus report to the local council if it becomes a regular thing. It’s too hot to not have windows open

Alternatively I might just have to water the plants with a hosepipe and accidentally send some their way

PatMustardsBigTool · 19/07/2021 21:55

So inconsiderate! This level of entitlement baffles me. And that craze of "home cinema" in the garden when it's dark, i.e. night, i.e. sleeping time. Cheeky fuckers!

lactofree · 19/07/2021 21:57

I read a story once about an old chap who had noisy neighbours. He resorted to starting up a petrol strimmer and leaving it on tick over for however long was necessary whilst he went back in the house

Legend!

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 19/07/2021 21:59

@lactofree brilliant!

When my old neighbours were playing a loud movie on theirs once I sent my kids out with their recorders to have a noise competition 🤣

Ilovesleeeeep · 19/07/2021 22:05

My last neighbour had a permanent tv in his garden that he used every night loudly anytime the weather was good with surround sound. We couldn't hear our own tv and having windows open made it 10x worse.
We didn't even last a year living there because we had to move out before we went mad, I feel your pain!

winewolfhowls · 19/07/2021 22:05

Water fight in the vicinity perhaps?

aktat · 19/07/2021 22:05

Hose pipe?

30degreesandmeltinghere · 19/07/2021 22:06

Bluetooth speaker with dinosaur sound effects...

Googlewasmyidea1 · 19/07/2021 22:07

It's very popular round here since lockdown started, there's a couple of companies who rent out the whole home cinema package. Fucking inconsiderate if you ask me

Googlewasmyidea1 · 19/07/2021 22:07

Home outdoor cinema that should've said

JayAlfredPrufrock · 19/07/2021 22:08

Sheesh I’d be round there having a serious word.

That’s inspired! Listening to a group of kids practising Frere Jacques and Hot Cross Buns on repeat would break a hardened terrorist.

lannistunut · 19/07/2021 22:10

I saw a house for sale with a massive screen in the garden and I just felt so sorry for their neighbours - they will have been delighted the garden cinema CFs are moving presumably!

Lunificent · 19/07/2021 22:12

Isn’t this something you report to the council? It’s noise pollution.

fantastaballs · 19/07/2021 22:19

Really hate to upset people on this thread but outdoor TVs are a thing now, I saw one last week in Costco. Not just in Costco or one brand either.

For reasons I don't fully understand, I have a foghorn in my attic. It would be coming out for this! See also pressure washer, goose scarer and agricultural-grade sprinkler system (I know why I have the last three things, it's just the foghorn that's a mystery!).

I think this is probably one of the best things I've ever read on MN Grin

Terhou · 19/07/2021 22:24

Has anyone tried knocking on their door and politely asking them to turn it down?

Great idea!!
OP does your lawn need mowing? Hopefully the neighbours will need doing afterwards too!

Queenoftheashes · 19/07/2021 22:28

I’d be straight on to the noise nuisance team

MotionActivatedDog · 19/07/2021 22:29

You should set your TV up outside too and turn it up full blast. A musical. They can’t really complain- can tbey?

Hugoslavia · 19/07/2021 22:30

We have one neighbour sat laughing so loudly, whilst sloshed, under our window. And another having a massive fireworks display which comes in blasts every five to ten minutes. Normally I have no problem with fireworks, or people having a few drinks etc. However, on the hottest day of the year, when everyone has their windows open and kids are struggling to get to sleep, it's a bit much!

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 19/07/2021 22:30

I hate people.
