To be absolutely raging at this selfish garden CF'ery?!?!

So I live in a street where all the gardens face onto each other. Not a problem usually, most people very considerate.

Tonight one set of neighbours have set up an extension cable to move their TV out of the house onto the decking and are blasting (and i mean blasting!) an action movie out for everyone to hear. Think lots of machine gun fire and everything deafening everyone. No one can have their windows open and beyond that, can't enjoy their own garden because of the noise!!!

I'm staggered by this level of entitlement and given they recently had their garden redone, suspect this is not going to be the last time. AIBU to yell at them to take it indoors once it hits 10:30pm??

Am glad I have kept the recorder secretly hidden away should this become a thing with my neighbours, wireless headphones are a thing and if they can’t wear headphones watch tv indoors.

This is no different to subjecting neighbours to bloody annoying music

Sexnotgender · 19/07/2021 22:51

Think I’d need to set up my sprinkler system to accidentally cover their patio.

mongoosebaby · 19/07/2021 22:54

@Terhou

Has anyone tried knocking on their door and politely asking them to turn it down?
For Gods sake, there is no room here for sensible suggestions. OP, get sprinklers. Lots of them.
EastWestWhosBest · 19/07/2021 22:54

Who are all you people with fog horns and sirens in your attics? I’ve never had anything like that!

bettyfloormop · 19/07/2021 22:55

@MotionActivatedDog

I have nothing loud in my attic. I feel so useless. Sad
I haven't even got an attic..
MotionActivatedDog · 19/07/2021 22:58

Jesus! You poor thing.

….are you…. loud?

MiddleClassProblem · 19/07/2021 22:59

It’s not really CF’ery unless they are using your Netflix account/power/tv or such…

Missed the point

wallpapering · 19/07/2021 23:00

The recorder has always been hidden, same as those fucking whistles kids get in party bags, I have no tolerance for the noise nor subject my neighbours by allowing child to sod of in garden and blow them.

Goingdriving · 19/07/2021 23:02

I am so sympathetic. I used to live in a wierd valley where noise at the top echoed down and then richicheted off the walls of my cluster of houses. One night a pub at the head of the valley played really loud music, so loud the teeny kids next door came out of the house at 10pm and danced on the path. I stormed round (a 15 minute furious walk), forced my way over to the music system and pulled the plug out of the wall. They didn’t do it again!

Universal remote? Keep muting it or changing the channel?

Livelovebehappy · 19/07/2021 23:18

So many threads about crappy neighbours at the moment. What is wrong with people?

😂

Brilliant!

It’s the good weather- people don’t know how to behave in good weather because we don’t get it that often.
PickAChew · 19/07/2021 23:22

You need to talk to the neighbour of the poster who has a sprinkler system spraying their garden to find out where they got it from. I'm sure a bit of water flying around would send them back inside.

I've got TWO of the gas canister type foghorns in my kitchen cupboard.

It was not their intended use but they may or may not have been used through the letterbox of a noisy neighbour.........

They were never noisy again (the neighbours, not the foghorns) Grin

WhenPushComesToShove · 19/07/2021 23:29

I think my response would be Dorris Day at full volume on our blue tooth speaker. Oh sorry neighbours, it had to be loud to hear it about your racket!

PickAChew · 19/07/2021 23:29

My attic is just about big enough to keep a recorder in.

rosalie11 · 19/07/2021 23:41

A lot of people are inconsiderate and nasty.
My neighbour downstairs use to have barbecues directly below my window when it was open which would smoke out my house even if I wasn’t there when they did it. They have a big garden and when confronted she told me to close my window on a steaming hot day!

I hate them and have had a lot of trouble with them so the police and landlord sorted it out for me

HelloWorld2577 · 19/07/2021 23:46

Tbh I think you are being a bit unreasonable. But then maybe I'm just a peacekeeper lol.

I would be very irritated if my neighbours were blaring something out at 10pm however they've just done their garden, it's their house, they want to do something exciting for the first time. Let them.

If it was every weekend or every night different story of course that would just be unreasonable and completely unneighbourly of them but they're watching a two hour film which will end. And in this heat having windows open does more harm than good so close them 😂

I would defo be calling my mum/Nan to have a moan up about how they were so loud the next day lol. But to shout out the window before it's even 11 on the first time they'd done something is a bit silly really

LemonadeSunshine · 19/07/2021 23:52

Check out 'the noise app'. You can record nuisance noise and forward directly to your local authority

Holothane · 19/07/2021 23:57

No I’m sorry as much as I love my 65 inch tv no way would I watch one in the garden if we had one, TVs are for indoors a dark room and no one else. Really noise stuff is getting worse.

I have the same out the back. 'Home office' during the day, party shack at night. Not great when you work fifteen hour shifts. Good luck to them when I get time to report them.

Doodlebug71 · 20/07/2021 00:07

@FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop

For reasons I don't fully understand, I have a foghorn in my attic

I think this is probably one of the best things I've ever read on MN Grin

Grin I like that one, too Grin
