To be absolutely raging at this selfish garden CF'ery?!?!

So I live in a street where all the gardens face onto each other. Not a problem usually, most people very considerate.

Tonight one set of neighbours have set up an extension cable to move their TV out of the house onto the decking and are blasting (and i mean blasting!) an action movie out for everyone to hear. Think lots of machine gun fire and everything deafening everyone. No one can have their windows open and beyond that, can't enjoy their own garden because of the noise!!!

I'm staggered by this level of entitlement and given they recently had their garden redone, suspect this is not going to be the last time. AIBU to yell at them to take it indoors once it hits 10:30pm??

Is this thread about you?

OP - look at this thread, you need one of these[/quote]
No, not me! My nearest neighbour is two fields away.

QueeniesCroft · 20/07/2021 11:07

My DS is learning the bagpipes! Thankfully we have lovely neighbours AND they like his practicing.

My sympathies! All three of my older boys learnt the chanter, but never wanted to progress to full bagpipes. The last one is learning the fiddle. I'm not sure if that's better or worse, to be honest!

AntiSocialDistancer · 20/07/2021 11:14

No one, ever, likes anyone practicing the bagpipes. Playing it nicely, at a wedding, is possible I suppose.

But actually liking someone learning to play? I call bullshit Grin

Bloodypunkrockers · 20/07/2021 11:14

@dizzyrabbit

I play music in my garden during the day, I burn my garden waste occasionally, we have a hot tub, barbecue and a fire pit. I also have four cats and a dog. Think yourselves lucky your not my neighbours 🤣😂
Yeah. That's funny
ememem84 · 20/07/2021 11:22

@QueeniesCroft

For reasons I don't fully understand, I have a foghorn in my attic. It would be coming out for this! See also pressure washer, goose scarer and agricultural-grade sprinkler system (I know why I have the last three things, it's just the foghorn that's a mystery!).
what on earth is a goose scarer?

I think this is probably one of the best things I've ever read on MN Grin

I think this one of the best things I have read ANYWHERE Grin

Recorders in the hands of children are a devilish idea.

However, OP have you ever thought of learning the bagpipes? It must be a rewarding thing to try. The instrument is best suited to the outdoors and classes do need space to meet and practice.

(Do offer ear-plugs to the quieter neighbours.)

skodadoda · 20/07/2021 11:33

@Lunificent

Isn’t this something you report to the council? It’s noise pollution.
Play classical music very loudly in your garden 🤣
skodadoda · 20/07/2021 11:36

@Lunificent
Apologies, I hit quote instead of add message. Heat getting to me 🥵

Hont1986 · 20/07/2021 11:36

In a rougher area I bet someone would go and find a small rock (NOT from their own garden), pick it up with a pair of gloves, and chuck it at the TV in the middle of the night. It would really be awful if someone did that.

AdobeWanKenobi · 20/07/2021 11:38

I've seen a bloke on Instagram who's dead proud that he's built a TV into a wall in his garden. He seems to think that because it's built in it's protected. I'm chuckling at the thought of him realising his huge TV wont work because moisture will absolutely permeate brick.

He lives on one of those new build estates where the detached house walls are about 6 inches apart so has half a dozen houses and gardens backing on to him. He's a selfish dick but he will come unstuck.

igelkott2021 · 20/07/2021 11:43

@MotionActivatedDog

I have nothing loud in my attic. I feel so useless. Sad
Me neither. I do however have a recorder in the wardrobe. I will keep it for any similar occasions!
Yesitsbess · 20/07/2021 11:50

I'm thoroughly enjoying finding out quite how many mumsnetters have some kind of audible arsenal about their houses. It's like a Dads Army Orchestra.

chickensouporwine · 20/07/2021 11:53

@MotionActivatedDog

I haven't even got an attic

Jesus! You poor thing.

….are you…. loud?

This made me laugh so much 😂
MostlyMaple · 20/07/2021 12:04

@AdobeWanKenobi that guy sounds a right prick. Hope his TV gets leaked on and breaks Grin

Livpool · 20/07/2021 12:08

That is the most bizarre thing I have ever heard. Who does that?!

skodadoda · 20/07/2021 12:08

@dizzyrabbit

Just let them be. The film will be over soon. The amount of threads on how that go ‘aibu my neighbour is doing x, y and z in their garden’ is unreal. We all need to be a little bit more tolerant of each other imho.
But ‘tolerance’ always seems to be in favour of the cf neighbours.
Toolchest13 · 20/07/2021 12:10

We had a noisy neighbour problem so played “dancing queen” on loop from the shed. Just in case one of them did like the song when it got to the chorus it started from the beginning again.

Yesitsbess · 20/07/2021 12:22

@Toolchest13 you are an evil genius. That's some 'Salt and Pepper Diner' level torture right there. If you haven't seen it I would highly recommend.

DragonWillow · 20/07/2021 12:24

I love watching tv outside - we regularly set up a projector & have outdoor cinema nights.

We are however considerate enough to wear bluetooth headphones though

3scape · 20/07/2021 12:28

I've bought catapults and an archery set for Summer. Wink

user1471538283 · 20/07/2021 12:45

I would tell them very clearly and loudly to shut up. Start a noise diary and get the Council involved - although our Council is absolutely rubbish.

People like this rely on others being tolerant and considerate. I second that they hate noise. So be noisy, very very noisy at any time they are quiet (sleeping in during the day etc).

Everyone has to be considerate. We live so close to each other and people could be sick, working shifts, have sick children or just want to enjoy the warmth without the constant noise. And we are still in a pandemic!

ShagMeRiggins · 20/07/2021 12:52

Cruel and genius.

KatieB55 · 20/07/2021 13:01

2nd party in neighbouring garden in 2 weeks. Speaker right next to our fence with heavy bass. We have a tiny garden and all doors & windows open as it was so hot. We were subjected to loud dance music til late with shouting, singing and screaming. Music was louder than our (inside) tv.
I feel sorry for other neighbours who were trying to get their small children to sleep.
No warning and no consideration.
