To wonder how anyone can think Boris Johnson is doing a good job

Can't believe the mess of opening everything up Monday when the cases are going up so quickly. And when he gives speeches they're almost incoherent most of the time. I'm wondering who can look at how it's all going and not despair, I think he's rubbish at the job.

Cue "... but Corbyn..."

Hmm
devildeepbluesea · 16/07/2021 20:36

Well yes. Thank God I'm in Wales. Though our First Minister has relaxed more rules than he would like simply because the pond life in Downing St has, and it's not practical to have them different.

StoneofDestiny · 16/07/2021 20:38

He was a lying, shagaholic poseur before he was elected. He still is. No surprise to anybody with a brain he has mishandled everything. He did only put himself forward to advance his own reputation by 'getting Brexit done'. He offered nothing else. He was the best the Tories had to offer - says a lot about the rest of them.

We are stuck with him - the most vomit inducing PM in history.

adawong · 16/07/2021 20:38

Yay we've not had a anti Tory thread for hours.
What does Captain Hindsight say?
BUT CORBYN.

nancy75 · 16/07/2021 20:39

At this point I’m not even convinced he’s doing a job. From Monday the government have basically said we know lifting restrictions is wrong but we don’t want to be responsible anymore so it’s every man for himself.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 16/07/2021 20:39

He’s appalling and makes me ashamed to be British tbh. He’s a lying, racist, imperialist, lazy, ignorant misogynist.

IvorHughJarrs · 16/07/2021 20:39

I'm not a Boris fan or a Tory but I'm not sure that anyone could do a widely acknowledged good job at the moment as there are so many unknowns. It's easy to criticise with hindsight and easy to oppose things like opening up as there are arguments on all sides.

Look at the vaccines. The Guardian and many others were howling that it was a huge mistake to not join the EU scheme but the gamble paid off, this one may or may not. Only time will tell

Katekarate · 16/07/2021 20:40

Yes I think he was there for Brexit and it was very bad timing that the pandemic happened on his watch. He's still popular though isn't he. But to me he's coming across as incompetent.

Do I like boris: No
Do I surport the Conservatives : Hell no
Do I think he’s doing a good job: no
Do I think I or anyone else could do better: No

I do think we are living in difficult times and I highly doubt that anyone could do much better. No matter what anyone does there would always be someone unhappy with what is going on.

Nah, I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people who could have made a better fist of things than Boris. It wouldn't be difficult seeing as he is a lazy homophobic sexist racist prick.

We should expect higher standards from our politicians rather than going "oh, but they are all shit."

Onlinedilema · 16/07/2021 20:41

I preferred Theresa May.

Unsoliciteddeckpic · 16/07/2021 20:42

The only people I know who don't think he has done the worst job (I know no one who thinks he has done an actual good job), generally feel anyone in power at this point would have made huge errors. Just different ones.

Buts that's not the same as a doing a good job.

whatswithtodaytoday · 16/07/2021 20:42

We have the worst possible Prime Minister at the worst possible time.

And millions of people voted for him. It's utterly baffling.

Megasausagehead · 16/07/2021 20:42

I preferred Mr Blobby

And I detest Mr Blobby

ilovesooty · 16/07/2021 20:42

I don't accept that he was the best the Tories had to offer. The Tory Party membership thought he was the most electable though.

It doesn't say much for their intelligence, honesty or decency.

whatswithtodaytoday · 16/07/2021 20:42

And I can assure you that I would do a better job.

Katekarate · 16/07/2021 20:43

I'm not the gambling type and find it terrifying being in the middle of his gamble personally

I cant believe I am saying it but I also would much prefer Theresa May

Megasausagehead · 16/07/2021 20:44

@whatswithtodaytoday

My 8 year old could do a better job
Katekarate · 16/07/2021 20:44

Yes I think she would have done a much better job of handling all this than he is doing.

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 16/07/2021 20:44

I can't believe Jeremy Hunt would have done as bad a job.

Motherto · 16/07/2021 20:45

Definitely not a Boris fan here he was actually my hometown mayor years ago as far as I’m aware he was awful then too.

PTW1234 · 16/07/2021 20:45

It’s like he has given up. The country seems 50/50 on whether or not restrictions should continue so it basically feels like he has said, “it’s a lot of effort to tell you what to do and for people to ignore it, so crack on and you only have yourselves to blame if it goes horribly wrong...”

Meanwhile 1200 scientists across the world have condemned the uk governments approach this morning, so we might as well kiss good bye to holidays abroad etc this summer as nobody will want us

subsy1 · 16/07/2021 20:45

"Do I think I or anyone else could do better: No "

Jacinda Ardern seems to have done, and be doing, a far better job!
