To wonder how anyone can think Boris Johnson is doing a good job

Can't believe the mess of opening everything up Monday when the cases are going up so quickly. And when he gives speeches they're almost incoherent most of the time. I'm wondering who can look at how it's all going and not despair, I think he's rubbish at the job.

He's out of his depth
He thinks it's too hard
He's bored with it
He's scared of his backbenchers

They did avoid job getting the vaccines but they are businessmen with money to burn they know paying extra upfront would guarantee the vaccines faster than going in with the EU and we were all treated to the epic and public EU tantrum over it I did not vote for brexit but after seeing them behave so badly im almost glad we are out

The thing is now, the number of cases doesn't actually matter. Same as a normal winter where the case numbers of flu isn't known. The only figures that matter are hospitalisations and deaths.

A large percentage of the country is now vaccinated. Covid isn't going away, we've got to live with it, the same as flu. People will die every year from it, same as flu, and we've got to get used to that. All the lockdowns etc were to buy time for the vaccine

Johnson didn't organise buying the vaccines. Kate Bingham seems forgotten but she did that.

Johnson didn't organise the NHS vaccination campaign, many many people in the NHS did that plus many more volunteers.

Germany are winning the vaccine race so the Boris vaccine thing is not a win he can claim.
People have very low standards if they think he's doing well or okay. It's like the population have become brainwashed zombies.

It does matter in a global context though, we have done a fantastic job on vaccinations, but the vast majority of the world, including popular holiday destinations have not. Our traffic light system means nothing if other countries won’t let us in anyway

But it does matter. Of course it matters.

The vaccine isn't perfect, so some people who are double jabbed are still going to require treatment. If cases continue to grow out of control as they, seeing as the government has basically given up at this point, no doubt will then the NHS is going to come under increasing stress again, and as well as all those covid patients it means that thousands of non-covid patients are again going to have to wait longer.

Plus many more will suffer from long covid.

Plus we are literally begging the virus to mutate. A high number of infected people passing the virus on to vaccinated people is basically a training ground for the virus to have a go at evading the vaccine.

It's fucking madness.

But hospital admissions are increasing. They are three times the rate they were four weeks ago, although still much lower than in January. I think it would be wise to be a little more cautious at the moment. I volunteer in a cafe and we all agreed we would prefer to carry on with current measures for the next few weeks.

I don't understand why people keep saying that nobody else could do a better job. Er, just look around at all the other countries and see their leaders...doing a better job than Boris!

Some people have some seriously low standards if people don't think anyone could have done better than the shower of wankers we currently have running the show.

Hindsight not needed.
It was obvious Johnson could not be trusted in his previous non political roles (hence his sacking amongst other things), couldn't be trusted as Foreign Secretary or even as Mayor of London. How could he be trusted as PM?
It was obvious and provable he was a racist.
It was obvious from the get go we needed to shut our borders to control the spread of Covid.
It was obvious we needed to prioritise the NHS emergency planning when scientists warned a pandemic was likely.
It was obvious we needed to get rid of corrupt lying non elected people like Cummings who were pulling strings behind elected 'leaders'. (But Johnson's own hands were too dirty to do that)
It was obvious his 'get Brexit done' would split the UK and most likely send NI back decades.

Nothing should be surprising anybody

Also, for all those that keep comparing this to flu, flu doesn't cause up to 20% of people to live with Long Flu, does it? This is a ticking time bomb. It's also true that the UK is just becoming a petri dish for a vaccine-resistant strain of Covid. I haven't seen thousands of scientists writing to The Lancet to complain about the "murderous" and dangerous Covid policies of other countries that are going to destablise the vaccine efforts across the world (because almost no other countries are as stupid and reckless as we are).

Johnson will win next GE with an only slightly smaller landslide in 2024.
