To wonder how anyone can think Boris Johnson is doing a good job

Can't believe the mess of opening everything up Monday when the cases are going up so quickly. And when he gives speeches they're almost incoherent most of the time. I'm wondering who can look at how it's all going and not despair, I think he's rubbish at the job.

@TARDISLover

Not to mention NZ is an island nation so has an advantage the we don't...........oh hang on a minute.

No, but NZ Is a country with about 7% of the population we have

Not sure why that would take away the advantage of being an island? If we'd closed the borders faster/properly the population size wouldn't be relevant would it.
Penistoe · 16/07/2021 22:26

People voted for a catch phrase!

Livelovebehappy · 16/07/2021 22:26

Can you suggest who would have been a better option to put our faith in at the last election OP? Which party leader would have dealt with the covid situation better? Bois gave us the means to get this sorted by introducing an effective vaccination program. The majority of adults have had the opportunity to have vaccines. It isn’t children in hospital with covid, but the people who have chosen not to be vaccinated. There are very few people who genuinely can’t have the vaccine due to vulnerabilities. Where would you go from here?

ancientgran · 16/07/2021 22:28

@HmmmmmmInteresting

I think my cat would do a better job and she's been dead for ten years.

I respect that

She was an awesome cat. A battle scarred stray who sometimes liked a quiet life with us but sometimes had to go out and add to her scars. Not to mention the surgery and 1 to 1 intensive care. We could have bought a champion for less but they wouldn't have been half the character she was.
PaulaPetunia · 16/07/2021 22:31

He's an embarrassment.
I do blame Corbyn and Momentum a bit too.

alibongo5 · 16/07/2021 22:31

He did not give us an effective vaccination programme. That would be the scientists and the NHS. I agree it has been fantastic but I can't give him any credit.

SueSaid · 16/07/2021 22:31

He has done as well/as badly as the other home nations.

He has acted on the same advice as any gov would have, we've done a lot well such as furlough, vaccines and managing the surges on the NHS. Nobody was ventilated in corridors like we saw in Italy with its advanced health care system.

Now we have the usual mn hysteria of they're not doing enough v they're doing too much/it's a dictatorship etc etc 🥱.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/07/2021 22:32

I think my cat could do a better job and she's been dead for 10 years.

I think my baby spider could also do a better job. Grin

ancientgran · 16/07/2021 22:33

Well I suppose if your baby spider is alive that does give them an advantage.

SueSaid · 16/07/2021 22:34

Things go well it's nothing to do with government and the actual Department of Health, things go badly and it's all their fault . Make your mind up 🙄.
Blossomtoes · 16/07/2021 22:34

That speech yesterday was the biggest load of incoherent bollocks I’ve heard in a long time. It’s absolutely terrifying that this is the leader of our country.

Well done avoiding ventilating people in corridors. Shame that was at the expense of sending infected people into care homes. Of course we did have an advantage on Italy as we'd seen what was happening there, we didn't capitalise on that though did we.

Give him his due though, I think he combed his hair on Monday. It was a mess again by Wednesday but at least we know it is possible.
Katekarate · 16/07/2021 22:37

Blaming Corbyn is a reason maybe why Boris Johnson is there in the first place but not a reason why he is so crap Confused He's meant to be an intelligent man. He's not good at the job because he's not a leader.

Now we have the usual mn hysteria of they're not doing enough v they're doing too much/it's a dictatorship etc etc 🥱.

I don't think you'll find it's just 'mn hysteria' since there's a lot of concern among scientists, I think around the world, about having 'freedom day' in the middle of cases rapidly going up. That seems like a basic.

Well at least you have enough facts to decide if he’s any good or not. This time next year you’ll have a better idea of what worked and what didn’t compared to other countries.
I don’t blame the PM. People are idiots. When we had strict lockdown people totally went nuts and stripped the shelves. And then moaned about all the stuff they couldn’t do and mental health etc etc.
When we were told we cold reopened a but that was also wrong.
When we had a bit of reopening followed then strict lockdown which was really really wrong.

Luckily, you can vote someone else in next time.

You’ll hate them too though.

rubbletrouble · 16/07/2021 22:43

I am yet to meet a Boris Johnson supporter that can list 4 things he has done well, during this pandemic.
They simply start waffling about corbyn, no one else to vote for or some other tripe that doesn't answer the question.

He is a disgrace at running this country, he is a liar, he is a thief and he should be sacked.
He will stay until we are in a better place with COVID whenever that may be, then they will give the boot.

Some people would vote for a spud if it wore blue.

rubbletrouble · 16/07/2021 22:45

He's constructed it to deflect blame from the government and everyone blames the stupid public, not his confusing messages, constant changes in rules and guidelines and bad decisions.

Eskarina1 · 16/07/2021 22:46

I remember conversations on mumsnet last summer that we were opening up too early and risked going back into lockdown. I remember working overtime in February last year pulling together plans and risk assessments of patients so we could make the best possible response to any disruption. So many people were doing the same, just not our Government.

This isn't hindsight, this is worrying about his actions time and time again, and being proved right. Remember schools being closed after 1 day in January?

I don't want a prime minister who "does his best" any more than I want a surgeon who tries hard and crosses his fingers.

I guess all I can say for him is he's probably better at the job than most of his cabinet would be. And he made me wish Jeremy "former secretary for hulture" Hunt was prime minister.

I don't think, and have never thought he does a good job. He's a pathological liar
Thedogscollar · 16/07/2021 22:51

He is quite simply the epitome of a useless wankerGrin

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 16/07/2021 22:52

@Onlinedilema

I preferred Theresa May.
It’s always the way isn’t it? We look back and think John Major was actually ok and a sensible, decent bloke. Some people even reminisce fondly about Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Quite a few people really would have preferred Jeremy Hunt as a Health Secretary. Which makes you wonder, in five or six years time will we have a PM so fucking appalling, that we might sigh and think, aw Boris, he wasn’t so bad……..what a terrible thought.
Onthedowns · 16/07/2021 22:57

The department of health passed over the vaccination to those in charge of the NHS to set it up. Same as all other vaccination clinics.

The logistics and roll out were and are down ti NHS staff not Whitehall dept of health

Read that as depth of hell. Which feels quite apt.
