To wonder how anyone can think Boris Johnson is doing a good job

Can't believe the mess of opening everything up Monday when the cases are going up so quickly. And when he gives speeches they're almost incoherent most of the time. I'm wondering who can look at how it's all going and not despair, I think he's rubbish at the job.

Yep the 37 billion i just cant get over, do the public just not realise how much it is or what? Larger than scotlands yearly buget. Corrupt scum.

BrozTito · 18/07/2021 15:14

"doing their best at least' becomes not good enoungh at u13s football, not PM

TeamRick · 18/07/2021 16:38

Sure he's doing a great job! 🙄 We have more new cases than any other Country in the World the day before we remove all restrictions!

@TARDISLover

Do I like boris: No Do I surport the Conservatives : Hell no Do I think he’s doing a good job: no Do I think I or anyone else could do better: No

I do think we are living in difficult times and I highly doubt that anyone could do much better. No matter what anyone does there would always be someone unhappy with what is going on.

Compare his efforts to those of his counterparts in most other countries and he's doing appallingly. Our numbers of cases and deaths are truly appalling. Our track and trace is appalling. The Health Sec just got sacked for shagging his aide and the new one just caught Covid and tried to sidestep isolating.

This is Boris Johnson's government. Now the painfully cliche 'Freedom Day' where it's every man for himself in the midst of 55000 cases a day and 1200 scientists writing to The Lancet to say the opening up of England from tomorrow is literally a danger to the world and is likely to lead to the hot housing of new variants that might lead to many more deaths across the globe. How many countries are going to open their borders to us after that?

This is a man who once his in a fridge to avoid questions. He hid in a FRIDGE.

Utter disaster.

Youdiditanyway · 18/07/2021 16:57

I honestly think he could commit mass murder at this point and people would still vote for him.

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2021 17:51

@Youdiditanyway

I honestly think he could commit mass murder at this point and people would still vote for him.
He’s already done that in terms of having blood on his hands.
ancientgran · 18/07/2021 18:11

@Clavinova

ancientgran You just have to accept that like everyone else on here I can comment on or reply to other posts.

And you have to accept that some/many posts might not seem interesting/relevant to you.

Perhaps it's age

Nothing to do with your age - Angela Rayner is a gran at 37.

I do accept that but it doesn't mean I can't comment on it.

Angela Rayner is unlikely to describe herself as ancient, although I realise a 15 year old probably would think she's ancient.

I'm sure someone will be along to explain that you don't understand, we are only top of that league because we test so much, it doesn't matter because vaccines vaccines vaccines, we are in a different geographical place to them, our borders are different, we are a different sort of island, Boris is a laugh isn't he. That sort of thing.

Presumably you mean we have more positive test results than any other country. I'd be extremely surprised if we have the most cases. Indonesia, Myanmar and Russia seem to be suffering a lot at the moment, but I expect other countries are as well.
Jayne35 · 18/07/2021 18:36

But restrictions have to be lifted at some point as covid is clearly here to stay. I’m sure there isn’t an endless pot of money to pay furlough?

I think he is doing the best he can and it’s easy for others to say they would have done better. I voted tortes btw, and brexit.

Marguerite2000 · 18/07/2021 18:49

@lljkk

Johnson will win next GE with an only slightly smaller landslide in 2024. Not what I want, just what I expect.
Exactly. The labour party knows what they have to do to stand a better chance of winning, but they choose to ignore the advice. One must conclude that they don't want to win. And I'm not a tory voter (and never will be) but I am an ex labour voter. Though to be honest, Tony Blair did most of the damage for me.

I suppose you could say that, if the best he can = complete and utter shit, a complete disastrous balls up

I voted tortes btw, and brexit.
I reckon we'd have been better off with the torte

Get rid of Corbyn, which thankfully they have done

Pandemic has been top of the national risk register for years and years. This hasn't come out of the blue, why weren't they better prepared ? Taiwan for I stance gas done an amazing job.

TeamRick · 18/07/2021 19:23

ancientgran Bingo!

How can anyone look at that list and think no one else could have done better! 🙄

The best he can do is clearly shit.

And even then, I doubt it is the best he can do. He's playing at being PM, just as he has played at politics his whole life.

And yeah, it is easy to say what we could have done better when the list of mistakes is so. Fucking. Long.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 18/07/2021 19:55

Should have left the wanker up on that zip wire

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2021 22:53

I’m getting really tired of this one. Domestically he was the best PM we’ve had in the last 50 years. Public services improved massively and poverty levels decreased. It’s become fashionable to decry him despite his winning three elections with bigger majorities than Thatcher or Johnson.

The problem with him was obviously Iraq.

Graphista · 19/07/2021 01:06

May's main issue was a lack of confidence. I don't agree with her politics but what did for her was her lack of firmness, assertiveness.

@Onlinedilema it's not just this Tory govt that was wasteful/financially corrupt. It's been shown that the last one was too, this is par for the course. Albeit much worse and more blatant with this lot. The myth that Labour plunders the gold and the torys bring it back in has been roundly debunked.

Those in my circle who voted for brexit and were vocal about it at that time are now VERY quiet whenever the subject arises.

I've still yet to see one single positive of Brexit shown/described by anyone, despite many threads on here, posts on sm, questions of pro Brexit people on news and current affairs shows. Not one thing that's happened thats positive.

I'm housebound through ill health and dependent on online grocery deliveries, I've noticed in recent weeks I am really struggling to get fresh items with any reliability. Supermarkets when asked are saying Brexit!

The last few elections have been a nightmare for the lack of decent candidates. I've voted all my adult life, the last election here I could not in good conscience vote for any of the candidates.

They've all disappeared down the twaw rabbit hole, Lib Dem's had shockingly horrible policies and an awful leader, snp were sniping at each other, Labour Scotland were being shitty to women generally and I will never vote Tory.

Where the fuck are the decent, common sense, working class candidates?!

I honestly think he could commit mass murder at this point and people would still vote for him.

Many would argue he already has!

@Jayne35 not all restrictions have economic impact. Or needn't. At the very least maintaining mask wearing is not difficult.

I'm sure he IS doing the best he can, the problem is he's a fucking useless numpty!

@Marguerite2000 I feel very similar re Labour Party. It's very much lost its way and forgotten its working class roots.

@Blossomtoes there were other issues with Blair. I stopped voting Labour at that point. Didn't vote Labour again until Blair was gone. Brown was better but still not ideal as a Labour leader, but I don't think he deserved the rap for a global financial crisis which he managed better than many. Can you imagine Johnson dealing with that? We'd end up in a 30's style depression!

Onlinedilema · 19/07/2021 06:44

Doing his best. Christ on a bike since when is that good enough!
Would you accept that from your child’s teacher?
Well I’m doing my best so what if I’m not actually doing anything positive.
