To want to scream shut the fuck up

Okay I know the football is a massive deal to some, I can't watch it as I find it too stressful.
I'm upstairs consoling my sobbing 1 year old who was asleep but was woken by people opposite who are yelling, cheering, groaning, swearing and singing. Given we're not even 30 minutes ini can see it getting worse. I mean fair enough cheering when they score but it was only once
Feel like screaming shut the fuck up. There are quite a few children who are /were asleep I'd think in our road (children under 3) and it's just so inconsiderable to make so much noise the entire time.
Poor baby is falling asleep and then wakes with a jump as these idiots bellow. They are clearly being over loud as usually baby sleeps through most normal noise.
Know I actually am being unreasonable as it's a one off but fuck me it's annoying.
Sorry feel better for the rant and obviously not going to scream shut the fuck up but am very tempted.

Can you put on some white noise to drown it out a bit?

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 11/07/2021 20:38

I also have a 1 year old and agree that its very annoying.....bracing for the fireworks later

maddening · 11/07/2021 20:39

Yabu at home,
yabu at home,
yabu, yabu at home

princesslarmadrama · 11/07/2021 20:39

I've put a fan on the highest setting to drown out the noise for my youngest.

SoddingWeddings · 11/07/2021 20:39

How on earth are they to know a baby is dropping off to sleep? It's not as though they're screaming at 2am.

Put some white noise on.

User5827372728 · 11/07/2021 20:39

It’s the final, after a shit year. Let them celebrate as they wish. A One off disturbed 2 hours of sleep will be fine for a one year old

Sunbird24 · 11/07/2021 20:40

Can you put any white noise or gentle music on to try and cover it up a bit? Or is there a quieter room you could try just for the next couple of hours? Even if you did shout at them it really wouldn’t make any difference tonight, I’m sorry.

Rosebel · 11/07/2021 20:40

I have tried that but honestly they're so loud it sounds like they're right outside his window.

I actually don't think you're being that unreasonable. Yes,it's exciting for football fans but that doesn't mean that the need to be a little considerate ends.

Why can't they watch it indoors!

YukoandHiro · 11/07/2021 20:41

It's one night. It sucks, but just bring him wherever you are and hold him.

People are excited as it's the one good thing that's happened for a lot of people in absolutely fucking shes. Sorry but they don't care that your kid can't sleep (neither can mine; ive given up)

YukoandHiro · 11/07/2021 20:41

*absolutely fucking ages

ivykaty44 · 11/07/2021 20:42

im enjoying hearing the birds sing as there is a silence without any cars on the road

already had fireworks and drunken shouts - they've been drinking all afternoon... I feel your pain

MindTheBumps · 11/07/2021 20:43

Stick a fan on, move to another room but ultimately grin and bear it, it's a one off and your one year old will survive.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 11/07/2021 20:43

Put a fan on.

TheGumption · 11/07/2021 20:43

Seriously the best thing you can do for a baby's sleep is get them used to sleeping with loud white noise on. My kids are basically un-wakeable. Dogs barking, chinooks going over the house, twatty chav neighbours with TVs in the gardens... Doesn't bother me anymore because my kids can't hear it!

osbertthesyrianhamster · 11/07/2021 20:44

It's one night.

Yep. Mine, too. Mine also stayed up far later than many British parents do - then they slept later, too. I fucking hate morning.
PRabbit · 11/07/2021 20:45

YANBU. People are selfish. The older you get the more you realise that nobody gives a shit about anyone except themselves.

Vilanelle · 11/07/2021 20:46

I agree, try white noise. All the people here saying it's just one night need to get in the fucking sea.

ShaunaTheSheep · 11/07/2021 20:46

Move the baby somewhere quieter?

GenderApostatemk2 · 11/07/2021 20:46

Some idiot in my avenue let off a massively loud firework that sounded like a gunshot, presumably when they scored ( not watching the game) cue next door’s dog going beserk and I’ve had to shut my doors and windows.

Don’t get me started on the morons who stormed Wembley, people could have been killed - I’d have turned water cannons on them, or rubber bullets.

kokosm · 11/07/2021 20:46

yabu it's the first time in literally 55 years

bubblebath62636 · 11/07/2021 20:48

YABU

My 3 week old managed to sleep through it.

Just treat it like fireworks night and grin and bear it.

GenderApostatemk2 · 11/07/2021 20:49

Why fucking 8pm for the kick off too? More time for the yobs to drink even more.
Why not 3pm or 5pm?
