To want to scream shut the fuck up

Rosebel · 11/07/2021 20:35

Okay I know the football is a massive deal to some, I can't watch it as I find it too stressful.
I'm upstairs consoling my sobbing 1 year old who was asleep but was woken by people opposite who are yelling, cheering, groaning, swearing and singing. Given we're not even 30 minutes ini can see it getting worse. I mean fair enough cheering when they score but it was only once
Feel like screaming shut the fuck up. There are quite a few children who are /were asleep I'd think in our road (children under 3) and it's just so inconsiderable to make so much noise the entire time.
Poor baby is falling asleep and then wakes with a jump as these idiots bellow. They are clearly being over loud as usually baby sleeps through most normal noise.
Know I actually am being unreasonable as it's a one off but fuck me it's annoying.
Sorry feel better for the rant and obviously not going to scream shut the fuck up but am very tempted.

My 6 month old twins and 5 year old have slept through it and we live next door to a pub 🤷‍♀️
So YABU and a tad over dramatic 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

@osbertthesyrianhamster

8 o clock kick off was a stupid idea anyway and I don't expect total silence just a little bit of consideration (like watching it inside or being just a little bit quiter) but I knew I'd be told I was unreasonable.

Why, because some people chose to have kids? Hmm

It's only 9pm, no reason why people should sit inside because someone might have a baby.

Not just that but because how many "fans" are going to be completely sloshed and behaving like assholes tonight and then be on the road tomorrow (not everyone is able to start work late). I know u will survive and so will my son. Doesn't make it less annoying. Still as said next time England get this far he'll probably be grown up.

I see your point.
Everyone is going on how it's the first time in 55 years. You would have thought as fans they would have known its not. 55 years ago they won the world cup, tonight is the Euros. Not the same.
Whilst I am not watching as am not a fan I do hope England wins.
The fans need to get a grip, they boo'd again during the Italian national anthem.
It has been a dreadful time for so many, but the world does not revolve round football.

chaosrabbitland · 11/07/2021 21:14

yanbu , it must be so annoying op , im hoping italy win and then we wont hear any more of it , and hopefully not that stupid its coming home chant , the drunks will drag themselves home to crash out in a coma . guess i souldnt say this being english lol, but football holds no interest to me being a bunch of men kicking a ball about a field

Vanishun · 11/07/2021 21:14

I'm noise intolerant and don't give a fuck about football - but I did just read that later kick offs mean a reduction in domestic violence, as men don't get drunk all day long like they do with earlier kickoffs.

That helps me deal with yet another night of noise from our neighbours, much more than thinking of this as some historic event (because really, some bloody ball being kicked around doesn't feel historic to me!)

WorldsBestCat · 11/07/2021 21:14

This is frustrating If I was in your shoes ( i was a few years back) i'd probably put little one in the car and go for a drive so they get some kip then come back once its all over with and put him/her back to bed. Not ideal but thankfully only for one night.

So because noise doesn't wake your children anyone who has children who do wake are unreasonable? Really. How narrow minded.
TheDevils · 11/07/2021 21:17

It's only one night.

morepizzapls · 11/07/2021 21:18

I understand the irritation.

I've got a bunch of lads with fog horns and mini drums.

just keep telling myself it's just one night and I expected it to be noisy.

Greenmarmalade · 11/07/2021 21:19

I genuinely hope it’s not too awful for you. These things can be really tough and isolating.

So, because the OP's child can't sleep though noise everyone enjoying the football is unreasonable? Really. How narrow minded of you.

FedNlanders · 11/07/2021 21:19

Just a bunch of dickheads here too

DumplingsAndStew · 11/07/2021 21:20

Nice and quiet here as I think all the neighbours are supporting Italy 😂

Definitely some (loud) white noise, OP, and make sure the trickle vent on the windows are closed too, they can allow a surprising amount of noise in too.

I hope he gets sleep soon, it's awful when noise keeps waking them up.

Abetes · 11/07/2021 21:20

It's just one night. I think you're being unreasonable to be honest.

EverythingWillFallInLine · 11/07/2021 21:20

@ancientgtan do you speak Italian? How do you know they weren't swearing lol? I was in split when Croatia won a big game and I swear every fucker got in their cars and drove around like madmen for about five hours, not that split is even remotely safe driving wise normally anyway lol. And there was plenty of swearing. And they were all pissed. There was one guy with this mental fucked up tractor type affair screeching round and round waving his fucking rakija all over the place. It's just what people do, they go a bit nuts.

Pancakepipsqueak · 11/07/2021 21:21

I’ve had to put white noise on loud for my 9 month old. I’m preparing for fireworks later. A neighbour is having a party and I think they’re watching it outside on a projector or something. They’re actually screaming it’s a bit intense!

TheAwfuITruth · 11/07/2021 21:21

Ahh I sympathise, it can be hard work with babies.

Just remind yourself, it's thoughtlessness, not malice. None of the people shouting are doing it to upset your baby. It's highly unusual circumstances, and a one year old will have forgotten all about it by morning.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 11/07/2021 21:23

Always played my kids to music for this reason-drowned out inconsiderate knobs!

vegas888 · 11/07/2021 21:24

It’s only once every 4 years

KingdomScrolls · 11/07/2021 21:25

I wonder if any of your children have ever disturbed anyone? It's one night, less than two hours. Subscribe a lot of people are enjoying after a shit year and a half. It's not ideal but it's not the end of the world.

Teenagersuniform · 11/07/2021 21:25

Oh behave ... it's the Euros and we're playing in the bloody final!!

littlepeas · 11/07/2021 21:28

I hate the way the football makes people behave, including some posters on this thread. I find men shouting at sport on tv deeply unattractive and can’t watch with my dh (because he shouts and I’m nervous about getting the ick). There’s something really grim about it. It’s a shame as it should be a nice occasion.

CurryLover55 · 11/07/2021 21:28

everythingwillfallinline lol at your 55 years comment!

No, the team is.
AlohaMolly · 11/07/2021 21:29

Do you have Spotify? Can you search calming music or something? I think white noise over the top of loud people might actually be quite stressful!

It’s really fucking irritating OP. DS was between 14-16 months it was high summer and every night, without fail, my neighbours would let their dog in the garden just after DS would drop off for the night. She’d bark for a good five minutes and it would wake DS, who had a twenty minute power nap and then would be awake until 10/11pm. I was fucking livid. Ruined my summer, that neighbour did!
