To want to scream shut the fuck up

Okay I know the football is a massive deal to some, I can't watch it as I find it too stressful.
I'm upstairs consoling my sobbing 1 year old who was asleep but was woken by people opposite who are yelling, cheering, groaning, swearing and singing. Given we're not even 30 minutes ini can see it getting worse. I mean fair enough cheering when they score but it was only once
Feel like screaming shut the fuck up. There are quite a few children who are /were asleep I'd think in our road (children under 3) and it's just so inconsiderable to make so much noise the entire time.
Poor baby is falling asleep and then wakes with a jump as these idiots bellow. They are clearly being over loud as usually baby sleeps through most normal noise.
Know I actually am being unreasonable as it's a one off but fuck me it's annoying.
Sorry feel better for the rant and obviously not going to scream shut the fuck up but am very tempted.

Oh I know they aren't doing it to be malicious but they keep changing and clapping although I don't think they've scored again.
I don't see why I'm being over dramatic. I haven't stormed round and had a go at them Im just ranting on MN. Not everyone enjoys football and it's been rammed down our throats for weeks.
I just want him to sleep because if England win fireworks will be going off for ages like they were on Wednesday. If he's asleep he might sleep through it (did on Wednesday) but if he's awake he'll just get in more of a state.

Yanbu OP

It may be true that 'it's just one night' and 'it's been a long time since...' etc, etc. But it's also true that high levels of noise can be annoying. That's all OP is saying, that the noise is annoying. Yanbu to be annoyed.

I don't know how anyone can think you're being unreasonable to be annoyed Lots and lots of things are annoying - different things are annoying to different people. Something could even be annoying/not annoying to the same person at different times. I'm sure some people are annoyed that Italy have now scored. Other people aren't annoyed by that. Neither are being unreasonable.

Anythingelseintheboxpandora · 11/07/2021 21:33

If he’s in a state it’s probably because you’re fraught though. They pick up on your stressed out vibes. It’s like when you have a screaming newborn and you try everything and they won’t stop screaming and then you hand them to your calmer husband and they stop immediately.

DrCoconut · 11/07/2021 21:35

YANBU. There is no need to scream and shout so the neighbours are disturbed. It's selfish and inconsiderate. The sense of entitlement that this football has brought out is unbelievable and wouldn't be tolerated for any other interest.

SmashingBlouson · 11/07/2021 21:36

We are probably going to lose at this rate, so not long now until it's over.

TheViewFromTheCheapSeats · 11/07/2021 21:40

It’s after the match I’m dreading. We are near a pub on a main road and last week it lasted until after midnight the running and yelling, car horns of people driving up and down, fireworks… it got a bit hellish with hours of having mobs of men standing on the kerb outside yelling at cars, drinking and crazy driving with people out of windows.

omgthepain · 11/07/2021 21:41

Thankfully we've
Not got too much noise here everyone in the culmde sac is very respectful of each other and out of the 8 houses most have kids and the other 3 are older hope it's not too bad now

JustLoveYourselfALittle · 11/07/2021 21:49

Yabu
We kept the 3 Yr old up as we knew how loud it would all be.
The 1 Yr old went at 7 and how he stayed asleep on the first goal I new know! I'm fully expecting him to be woken, and when he does he stays awake hours! But it's a one off.

BeHappyAndSmile · 11/07/2021 21:50

Our neighbours are inside and still cheering so loudly you can hear it through the (8 month olds) baby monitor. And they have their own 6 month old. It's not the end of the world, if he's upset bring him downstairs and distract him
But you're being very unreasonable with your aggressive post claiming You felt like screaming shut the fuck up.

PersonaNonGarter · 11/07/2021 21:51

YABU

Precious. Very.

Rosebel · 11/07/2021 21:51

Why is everyone saying it's a one off? Are England never going to play football again after tonight?

OP posts:
Sunbird24 · 11/07/2021 21:51

Is everyone saying it’s a one off thinking that the England men are not going to get to a final for another 55 years? 🤷🏻‍♀️

EverythingWillFallInLine · 11/07/2021 21:52

Usually the way.

DeflatedGinDrinker · 11/07/2021 21:53

Yabvu bore off

ancientgran · 11/07/2021 21:53

@Doghead

ivfgottwins
My 6 month old twins and 5 year old have slept through it and we live next door to a pub 🤷‍♀️
So YABU and a tad over dramatic 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Ancientgran
So because noise doesn't wake your children anyone who has children who do wake are unreasonable? Really. How narrow minded.

So, because the OP's child can't sleep though noise everyone enjoying the football is unreasonable? Really. How narrow minded of you.

The OP didn't say everyone enjoying football was unreasonable. She was talking about people screaming, shouting and swearing. Maybe you think that is how "everyone" enjoys things.

Maybe try to understand what she actually said.

DeflatedGinDrinker · 11/07/2021 21:54

I'm sure they haven't enjoyed your baby crying daily but bet they haven't been round moaning.

Nohomemadecandles · 11/07/2021 21:54

I'm sorry I don't think you can ask anyone to watch this quietly without sounding like a bit of a knob.
I get you're annoyed but it's hardly an every day event. It's some joy after a fucking awful 18 months.

ancientgran · 11/07/2021 21:54

So it's all right for them to scream and shout but the OP is wrong to even feel like doing that? Seems a bit unbalanced.
osbertthesyrianhamster · 11/07/2021 21:56

Our neighbour is stamping and yelling at the screen.

Rosebel · 11/07/2021 21:57

I seriously doubt they can hear my baby crying across the road. Anyway he can't help crying he's a baby. They can help being so loud.
OP posts:
Rosebel · 11/07/2021 21:58

Also I haven't gone round moaning to them either.

Eurgh, that sounds horrific.

Also dreading post-match. For the PP who says it's only two hours.. So everyone just goes straight to bed afterwards?! 😂

baffledcoconut · 11/07/2021 22:00

Some twat has a vuvuzela here. I want to ram it up his arse.

Kanaloa · 11/07/2021 22:01

I don’t know why everyone seems to think common decency goes out the window because of football. It is annoying, like any excessive noise. There’s not much you can do about it, but it is very annoying. It’s part of the reason I really dislike football, the ‘enjoyment’ of it seems to be so aggressive.
