To want to scream shut the fuck up

Okay I know the football is a massive deal to some, I can't watch it as I find it too stressful.
I'm upstairs consoling my sobbing 1 year old who was asleep but was woken by people opposite who are yelling, cheering, groaning, swearing and singing. Given we're not even 30 minutes ini can see it getting worse. I mean fair enough cheering when they score but it was only once
Feel like screaming shut the fuck up. There are quite a few children who are /were asleep I'd think in our road (children under 3) and it's just so inconsiderable to make so much noise the entire time.
Poor baby is falling asleep and then wakes with a jump as these idiots bellow. They are clearly being over loud as usually baby sleeps through most normal noise.
Know I actually am being unreasonable as it's a one off but fuck me it's annoying.
Sorry feel better for the rant and obviously not going to scream shut the fuck up but am very tempted.

My 3 week old managed to sleep through it.

Noise doesn't tend to wake babies that young. Once they're a few months old they're more aware of their surroundings and more easily disturbed.

@GenderApostatemk2

Why fucking 8pm for the kick off too? More time for the yobs to drink even more. Why not 3pm or 5pm?
Because not everyone dances round the schedule around other peoples' babies and toddlers that they put to bed at stupid o'clock and expect the entire world round them to go silent Hmm.

Man up mate last time was 55 years ago. YABVU.

Cam2020 · 11/07/2021 20:52

I appreciate people being excited, but how loud must it be to hear people opposite?!

I'm not really an advocate of everyone being quiet for children, but some reactions are just over the top.

Not to mention, everyone on MN seens to think children should be seen and not heard!

Rosebel · 11/07/2021 20:54

I know what you mean about the noise but he normally does. Two older DC so not exactly quiet, sleeps through next doors dog barking, the TV and easily sleeps in the pushchair out and about.
However normal noise doesn't consist of people bellowing outside so loud I can actually hear exactly what's being said (despite shutting the windows).
I know it's one night and people are excited. I'm not going to say anything but fuck me it's annoying.

I mean I get that it’s annoying but you sound like you have the resilience of a wet lettuce leaf OP.

Moorelewis · 11/07/2021 20:55

YABU

UpSlyDown · 11/07/2021 20:55

As a parent of two very small children I get why you’re stressed but it’s literally one time. Even as someone who doesn’t generally give a crap about football I’m really excited!

ChaToilLeam · 11/07/2021 20:55

Feeling for you OP, hope it doesn’t go on too late.

FreeSpirits · 11/07/2021 20:55

Pipe down

InFiveMins · 11/07/2021 20:56

YABU to expect people to be quiet on the finals of the euros.

Your child will survive, it's only one night of inconvenience.

Sleepyquest · 11/07/2021 20:56

I have a toddler and I'm not bothered. It's one night, it's a big deal and I don't think one bad nights sleep will do any toddlers any harm. Hopefully they will quieten down before midnight but try not to get so annoyed

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 11/07/2021 20:56

My 3 week old managed to sleep through it.

Of course they are, they are 3 weeks old.

See you on here when it's the World Cup and you have an older baby.... Wink

ivykaty44 · 11/07/2021 20:58

im so glad this only happens every 80 odd years, pita

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 11/07/2021 20:59

1 and 3yo here with heart beat white noise on. Not a peep. It's coming home....

P.s if mine wake they're coming down to snooze with us. It's one night. They've kept me awake for nearly 4 years. I'm still alive.

Well come over and listen to them bellowing and swearing while your baby screams if it's so easy. 8 o clock kick off was a stupid idea anyway and I don't expect total silence just a little bit of consideration (like watching it inside or being just a little bit quiter) but I knew I'd be told I was unreasonable.

"My 3 week old managed to sleep through it."

Grin yeah, because she's 3 weeks old.

Dentistlakes · 11/07/2021 21:01

I get it’s annoying op, but I would try not to get too wound up about it. It’s not as if you can do anything about it and it’s a one off. I loathe football, but this is such a special occasion even I can’t begrudge them. I just hope to God they win or we’ll have to endure the misery for weeks to come.

ElvenDreamer · 11/07/2021 21:01

I thankfully love in a quiet road, but I've turned the radio off now as it's all making me irrationally angry. I actually quite like football but everytime I see the footage of hoards of people together shouting and singing and in my own industry I still can't get more than 6 people together for a quiet ordered sing song it breaks my heart. The way people are behaving anyway, covid or not, is ridiculous.

RubyGoat · 11/07/2021 21:01

We're on a hill literally right on the edge of town, so not too noisy, but we've had intermittent fireworks for the past hour or so. Thankfully DD is like me, she can sleep through just about anything once she's down. We had an absolute monster of a thunderstorm the other night, right overhead, lasting about an hour, she never even stirred. We used to live just up the street from a pub, she got used to noise.

ElvenDreamer · 11/07/2021 21:02

*live in a quiet road.

Anythingelseintheboxpandora · 11/07/2021 21:02

Oh please. I have two young kids. I’ve done my fair share of sleepless nights. You’ll survive.

(I’m Scottish - I have no skin in this game - but I think it’s a one off and the whole world cannot revolve around your child’s bedtime)

SaucyHorse · 11/07/2021 21:02

YABU, it's a big night for a lot of people, your baby will be fine.

EverythingWillFallInLine · 11/07/2021 21:03

Lol @maddening.

Look on the bright side op : your baby won't be kept awake again by football until she's 55.
