For my toddler Dd? Nothing fancy, just something lovely from baby Zara, for example.
I also sort of buy her new outfits to match places/the colours where we are going, to look aesthetically pleasing in Instagram photos etc..I’m weird, aren’t I 😬

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 05/07/2021 15:00

Fucking hell

HappyCamperT5 · 05/07/2021 15:01

🤣🤣

ThursdayWeld · 05/07/2021 15:01

You are lucky, is what you are. I do hope you appreciate it!

LittleRa · 05/07/2021 15:01

Are they comfortable, practical outfits that your DD can easily explore in and play in? If so, and you can afford it, knock yourself out. If they’re restrictive like mini leather jackets or super frilly dresses which impede on her crawling/running about then maybe time to think again. Do you get upset if the outfits get dirty with mud, paint, food stains etc?

SpaghettiSpoons · 05/07/2021 15:01

Literally no words.....

ItsSnowJokes · 05/07/2021 15:01

Not weird but spending a lot of money you don't really need to and its not great for the environment. Does your child need this many clothes?

I don't get the looking good on insta thing, it always looks so fake, is that really how you want to look?

Sbsh · 05/07/2021 15:02

Sounds expensice/wasteful, toddlers need comfy clothes to play in for playdates they don't care if its Instagram fashion.

Soubriquet · 05/07/2021 15:02
Hmm

Your child isn’t a prop for Instagram. Buy the clothing if you wish to waste your money but your child does not need to be in environment matching clothing just because you think it looks cute

Snookie00 · 05/07/2021 15:03

What a ridiculous waste of money and so pointless as she’ll grow out of them in a matter of weeks.

Imapotato · 05/07/2021 15:03

Ummm yeah… that’s a bit weird.

popcorndiva · 05/07/2021 15:03

Doesn't sound very environmentally friendly to only wear things once no. I like toddlers in comfy clothes so they are not restricted

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 05/07/2021 15:04

This doesn't sound particularly healthy to me.

FleetwoodRaincoat · 05/07/2021 15:04

Yes weird. And sad.

undertheblue · 05/07/2021 15:04

This sounds like a piss take troll type thread....

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/07/2021 15:04

Why do you hate the planet?

BingBongToTheMoon · 05/07/2021 15:04

Wow

HappyCamperT5 · 05/07/2021 15:04

Surely it's a joke?

Paddling654 · 05/07/2021 15:05

I thought everyone did this?

BigPyjamas · 05/07/2021 15:05

It's excessive, and not very environmentally considerate but I can think of worst things to be doing.

Perhaps with lockdown, each play date is a novelty, and holds more significance than it normally would. I don't begrudge people some quite enjoyment after 18m of shit.

Maybe look at ways you can lessen the impact: will she wear them again, are you planning more kids, could you sell them or give them to charity later?

Notajogger · 05/07/2021 15:06

This can't be real. What a waste of time, money, and the environment.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 05/07/2021 15:06

Wot, so if you are going to the Zoo you mean you'd buy her a lion or giraffe outfit so she'd match her surroundings and look appropriately dressed on Instagram?

CupOfTPlease · 05/07/2021 15:07

I'm assuming an IKEA trip you will dress her as a minion then.

miltonj · 05/07/2021 15:07

I'm not one of these mumsnetters who think that anything other than a baby grow is cruel or anything other than 2nd hand is wasteful. BUT what you've said is just madness, what happens when I friend nips round, short notice? Do you swiftly whip off whatever your daughter is wearing and replace it with something more Instagram ready? Grin

JovialNickname · 05/07/2021 15:07

If you can afford it and your little one is comfy then why not Smile
